My Alleged Husband

Chapter 1527: Chapter 1321: An Unattainable Dream

Untouchable dreams are the deepest pain in our hearts. Whether we’re happy depends on how we choose to face it.

Zhang Zhentian never imagined his father could be so heartless. As a son, he’d knelt down, begging with all his heart, yet his father remained unmoved, refusing to forgive him for his mistake. He truly didn’t understand what he was thinking back then that made him believe he could kneel in front of his son, insisting on getting his father’s forgiveness from the commitment he made at school. Now it feels like he’s put himself in a difficult position. Why did he continually put aside all his dignity to plead with his father whose intent was clear from the doctor: he wouldn’t forgive him nor allow his son to return home, back to his side.

Could all of this just be his own wishful thinking? He simply wants every family member to treat him kindly, to coexist in peace, for everyone to live harmoniously. Why then must they repeatedly hurt each other with unpleasantness? Clearly, a family can live happily together, yet they choose to harm one another, leaving everyone in discomfort.

He truly wishes he could find a place to hide, for never in his life had he felt such humiliation as he did now, kneeling for another’s forgiveness, while the other party never even considered forgiving him, instead making conditions. To him, this was a great insult, believing his father never treated him as a real son. Yet Zhentian never considered why his father acted this way. Was he trying to prove his actions were right or wrong? His perspective only saw others’ faults, never his own. Like someone with two pockets, one showing only others’ mistakes, the other concealing his own, blind to the harm his past errors had caused others.

”Dad, I really didn’t expect I’d be kneeling here today pleading with you, and you never even said you’d forgive me. I truly don’t understand why. If it wasn’t for a promise I made to my son to get your forgiveness, I wouldn’t be here kneeling and begging you today. You are my father, but I have never lost my dignity like this before. I have always valued my dignity highly, but I never said anything, because I knew as long as I followed my heart, I would achieve what I wanted. But when I realized everything I wanted was drifting away, did you know? I truly found I’ve changed, I’m no longer the person I once knew.”

”I hope that every decision you make allows the family to see clearly. I wish I could reflect on why I do everything and hope you can give us a complete family.”

”I also hope you give me a chance to stay with my own child, to see them live happily. I want to make up for all the lost time all these years.”

”Why won’t you give me a chance? Do you truly see everything I’ve done as so disgraceful? I long for a chance, a chance to turn over a new leaf. Yet you repeatedly use words like these to hurt me, making me realize, whatever I do, I can’t return to the past.”

Xia Jing couldn’t bear to see Zhang Zhentian desperately plead to his father without gaining any understanding. She didn’t want her husband’s dignity trampled like this. She decided to take all blame on herself, thinking it would be better than keeping it buried deep inside. If she continued this way, she truly wouldn’t know what to do.

”Dad, I’m sorry. I know that leaving this family was indeed my mistake. If it weren’t for me, your son wouldn’t have abandoned you. I didn’t realize how much it bothered you inside, making you distrust everyone...”

”Because deep down, you believe those you trust will betray and hurt you. But we aren’t heartless. We want our family’s understanding and support. We realize our past decisions were wrong. Can you see it from my perspective? I hope we can all show a little empathy, think about the difficulties we each face, and envision the life we want. Can we stop hurting our family?”

”Perhaps I’m the least qualified to say this now, the person who caused everything to become like our parents. How can I ask you to forgive us now?”

”I merely want a clear conscience. I regret my past actions. If there were a remedy for regret, I’d take it. If time could turn back, I’d return to the start. I wouldn’t choose to leave my child. For me, as a mother, not seeing my child all these years has been heartbreaking. But I never expected that meeting my son would leave me so numb. I never imagined my actions would bring such unbearable pain to my child. I hope the hurt I’ve caused ends here. I refuse to hurt loved ones due to our strained relationship.”

”I know that kneeling and begging you today was in vain, because you won’t trust or forgive us. Our past mistakes have lost your trust; forgiveness like before is impossible for you...”

”But I am always by your side; that’s an unchangeable fact.”
