My Alleged Husband

Chapter 1533: Chapter 1327: Holding Hands

In your world, I’ve never backed down, never been cowardly, but I lean close to your ear and just want to softly speak my thoughts to you. I wish for you alone to have my tenderness, and for you to alone bear my love.

”Child, your grandparents certainly believe you are an honest child. I believe every action you take has its own reasons and purpose, and I have never doubted you.

All these years, everything you’ve experienced—how could we not know? Yet, we still have no way to stand by your side and protect you. When you are bullied, we can only watch from afar, watch you solve every problem through your own efforts and wisdom. When you successfully tackle challenges time and again, our hearts are secretly proud, even elated. Having such a talented child in our family as our descendant—how could we not be happy? You are so much like your father, living to prove yourself to others. But is such a life truly joyful? When you make these decisions time and again, can you truly say you’ve never felt regret or reluctance?

I don’t know what you really want to do, nor do I truly understand your dreams. Do you know? The happiest moment for me was seeing you reach where you are today. Yet, I don’t want you to abandon your dreams just to prove yourself to others. Dreams are truly important. With a dream of your own, you can put in all your effort. If you truly don’t want to do certain things and can’t do what you truly want, then living like this is very tiring. Why change yourself for others? You should follow your own pace, not adapt to others’. You should have everyone follow your rhythm. If one day you choose to proceed at someone else’s pace, it means you have already lost to them at the starting line of life.

What I am more afraid of is that your abandoning your dreams might be related to us. We really don’t want to go through such things again. We just want to live peacefully, for everyone to be happy and joyful. If you give up on your dreams because of me, how could I bear it in the depths of my heart? I only wish to see my family happy and joyful, but time and again, I have changed everything. I changed your father’s fate, changed yours, and now I have changed the entire family’s fate. Is changing other people’s destiny all my life is meant for? Is it really the easiest thing in life to cause others pain? I don’t believe it; I refuse to become such a person.”

”I think you are overthinking it. How could I possibly give up my dreams because of you? May I ask what makes you think I’d change my direction for you? I feel all this is a matter of personal preference; whether it’s proving myself to others or whatever else, as long as I am content, as long as I tread the path I most wanted to take, I have no remorse. I have never thought of changing my direction for anyone else, nor adapting to others. I will only let others adapt to me, follow my rhythm, and I just adapt to the environment to make others follow my pace.

I once thought about adjusting my pace to follow others, but I found out I’d be making a huge mistake. If I changed myself and followed others, I’d never have a chance to rise again. I want others to follow my pace, adapt to my rhythm. If, from the start, I chose this path, I was fully prepared. This choice has nothing to do with anyone else. I just purely wanted to take this path, to become someone different, to have one more skill, one more means to survive. I never imagined you’d think this way now. If I’d known, I’d never have chosen it. Do you think you have the power to change my direction? You don’t.

If, from the beginning, you had chosen to stay by my side, maybe I would indeed have chosen my path based on your opinions. But my grandfather never interfered with my decisions. I simply walked the path I wanted most. Sometimes, don’t be too self-assured; the paths we choose are about ourselves with no relation to anyone else. I would never gamble with my life, nor let it change for others. Living like that is truly burdensome.

Don’t think that because of his mother, my son changed his path. From a young age, he indeed chose paths thinking of you, but I believe my son shouldn’t be influenced by anyone. He should live a joyful life, and I will bear all burdens on my own.

Why should my son bear the pains I’ve endured? There’s no need or possibility for that. How could I let my son endure endless pain? He should lead a happy and joyful life. If he is happy and content, that is enough for me.”

Zhang Zhentian felt deeply moved listening to his son. At the very least, his child and grandson hadn’t changed their life’s path because of them. If they really had, they would not know how to face it. There would be no way to bear such pain, nor any justification to have their children follow their footsteps in life. The mistakes they’ve made should be borne by themselves. Why involve their children?

How innocent children are! Abandoning them once was already the greatest mistake in the world. If, again, their reasons change their children’s dreams and lives, what reason does a father have to remain by his child’s side, what right to remain in the family, or to be a father?

My spirit and soul continuously guard your deepest self. My wounds and tears disappeared only to be for you alone, hidden in an endless small universe. Can you understand my love for you? Can you hear every word I say for you...
