My Alleged Husband

Chapter 1515: Chapter 1309: Holiday

I have never spent a perfect holiday, I only know that my life is filled with suffering, and every step I take feels like walking on thin ice, yet I still move forward, never giving up on any hope.

I always believe that as long as I can persist, no matter what lies ahead, even if the road ahead makes me wish for oblivion, I don’t want to give up easily.

Zhang Zhentian never imagined that one day his grandson would have such deep prejudice against him. What exactly did he do wrong?

Deep down, he increasingly cannot fathom how his family perceives him. Time and again, no matter what he does, he never gets a good result. No matter how many mistakes he has made in this lifetime, he truly considers them family in his heart. Why is it that in his father’s eyes, he is not seen as a son, in his son’s eyes, he’s not seen as a father, and in his grandson’s eyes, he’s not seen as a grandfather? Has he truly lived his life so unsuccessfully?

All he wants is for his family to forgive him, to let him stay in this home, never to leave again, and to have the chance to be with them, to make amends for all his past mistakes over the years.

But why do these people seem to have forgiven him on the surface, yet deep down haven’t truly forgiven him, not seeing him as a part of the family? Why choose to treat him this way? If that’s the case, why did they choose to forgive him in the first place, letting him return to this family, as this only puts him in an embarrassing position?

”Children, if you truly don’t wish to forgive us or allow us back into this home, then you shouldn’t have pleaded for us, shouldn’t have let us return. Now that you’ve chosen to let us come back, why treat us this way now? Do you think treating us like this is good? Do you believe it’s fair? All we want is a healthy, stable family, for everyone to live a happy life, yet you choose to treat us like beggars with your sympathy, placing us in an awkward position?”

In fact, you should know that since we’ve chosen to return to this home, it shows our genuine intention to live here and truly treat this as our home, wanting to integrate into one big family, wishing to eliminate the barriers of the past. But by doing this, what do you take us for? Doesn’t this deepen the gap between us?”

Perhaps, in your eyes, none of this matters, it’s not worth mentioning. But in ours, this is not a good thing. You may not care, but we do. You are the child, and we, as adults, shouldn’t argue with you, yet your words today hurt us. Since you chose to forgive us, why act like this? Actually, you are the ones who are two-faced, pretending to generously forgive everyone, but still pressing us behind closed doors. Do you want us to leave this home never to return, is that what you truly think? Do your parents know what you think? Does your great-grandfather know? If they found out the truth, how would they see you?”

Zhang Zhentian never expected his grandson to be so scheming, for such a small matter to escalate like this. He only wished to stay in this home, but his grandson chose this moment to say such things to him, clearly wanting to force him to leave. Unless he leaves voluntarily, he can’t bear to drive them out in front of everyone.

Zhang Ni smiled helplessly.

”My dear grandfather, when did you hear me say I wanted to drive you out? When did you hear me say I wouldn’t welcome you to stay in this family? When did you hear me being aggressive? All I want is a fair and just answer. I just want you to give me an explanation. Why would you rather keep everyone in the dark than give me this explanation? Can you tell me what that explanation is? Can you tell me the truth behind this matter?”

Even if my father stupidly believed the explanation you gave him, I don’t believe it. I don’t believe such a simple matter could actually be truth, that you could make everything seem like it never happened with just a few words. Do you really think we are fools?

My father chose to believe you because he knows the deep longing in his heart for his parents’ company over the years. But for me, although you weren’t by my side, my parents never left me. For me, the company of grandparents is important, but it can’t compare to the love from my parents. I have the love of my parents and the care of my great-grandfather, so whether I have you or not doesn’t make much difference to me!

Don’t you see why I’m asking you these things? I just don’t want these things to escalate in the end. I just want answers.

It doesn’t matter what the answer is or if it surprises me. I just want an accurate answer, which is as simple as moving your lips for you, but I just want a genuine answer. Why can’t you fulfill this small wish of mine? And you turn around saying I’m aggressive. Have I forced you?

Why don’t you think for a moment, that if I wanted to force you, I wouldn’t have let you come back. I’m just a child who speaks carelessly, if I truly didn’t want you back, I wouldn’t have pleaded on your behalf outside. I did it just to smooth things over, making you grateful so everyone feels indebted to me. I just wanted to ease my grandfather’s situation without embarrassing him too much. Everything I’ve done wasn’t for you. I had ulterior motives. Don’t give yourself too much credit, thinking I did all this for your sake to let you back. It’s quite laughable!”

Xia Jing and Zhang Zhentian suddenly felt that this child in front of them had changed from the one outside not long ago. Clearly, in front of his father, he was so calm and poised, never revealing the aggressive side he is showing now. But suddenly, he seemed like a different person, making it hard for them to adapt to this change.

I have always known the path is one I choose, and even if obstacles come, I must continue forward. As long as I can persist, there’s no reason to give up easily. Thus, I have never abandoned my life’s path.
