My Alleged Husband

Chapter 1510: Chapter 1304: Keeping a Distance

Some injuries, some pains, maybe truly only distancing oneself is the right solution. No one can live as carefree as before, all the hurt that everyone has suffered forever resides deep in their memory.

Zhang Zhentian knows that his wife says so much just to get him to retreat, but he is not someone who would easily back down. Since he made such a decision back then, no matter what, he would not regret it. As long as he can stay by his wife’s side, it doesn’t matter how much grievance he suffers.

On the contrary, seeing his wife consider so much for him, he feels deeply moved. He never thought he could one day have the same attitude as his wife. Every time he tried to do something, it would always bring great pain to his wife, for in her eyes, everything he did was wrong.

But today he realized that his many years of efforts were not in vain. His wife was not unaware of those efforts, she only pretended not to see them, silently bearing everything. And now, he finally couldn’t help but express it.

”Honey, I don’t care what you think, I just want to tell you, my decision will never change. Since I decided back then to stay by your side, then no matter what, I will definitely stay by your side, even if you try to drive me away, I won’t leave!

All these years, we have relied on each other, been by each other’s side for so many years. Don’t you have even a bit of love for me in your heart? If you don’t love me, why do you care about me? If you don’t love me, why do you worry about me being hurt so much?

You’re just afraid to believe in yourself, you’re afraid to face your own heart.

Because of your people, you fear what they have. You think you owe it to him, but do you know how many years have passed? Even if you could reunite, could you return to the way things were? The past is already the past, shouldn’t you cherish the present and live a good life with me? Isn’t this more important for you?

If you keep holding onto the past, neither of us can be happy. Everyone wants happiness, life is really simple, as long as you have your loved ones by your side, and live a life free from worry, that’s the greatest happiness, and you are the greatest happiness I have in this life.

Don’t think the things I say to you are sweet nothings. Every word is sincere; I genuinely want to be with you. My desire to be with you has never changed, every time longing for the day we can be together, how joyful and happy I would be. But why, after all these years, do you tell me such a cruel truth?

Seeing me live so sadly and dejectedly, does it really make you happy? You know how conflicted and painful my heart is, yet you still resolutely informed me of this result.

I know, though you told me the result for honesty’s sake, do you know every impulsive decision you make brings us another different fate?”

”Yes, I hope that you won’t say these things again, no matter what happens. There really is no relation between us anymore, no possibility of us being together. If you truly hope someday I can accept your words, then just let this notion die. I’ve said I’ll gradually try, but I have to admit, my heart feels conflicted because of you now.

You are right, I fear being with you, thinking I’ll be unfaithful to him. But do you know how painful this torment is for my heart? Each time, it grows. I don’t know which choice is right. I want a stable life with you, yet I cannot betray him!”

”Actually, from the day you married me, you’ve already been unfaithful to him. Why say these words now? Is there any meaning in saying these words? Do you think they will bring him back to your side? They won’t!

Time and again, using self-deception to numb yourself, are you truly happy living like this? You can see clearly what kind of life you want, yet you don’t know what you should do!

Maybe my demands seem too harsh, but this is the most honest truth from the depths of my heart, that’s why I resolutely tell you all this!

I just want to share my truest thoughts with you, to keep you by my side to live the happiness we desire, to avoid conflicts and arguments over differences as before. Living that way is so exhausting, clearly a joyful family, why make it so complicated?”

Xia Jing is truly at a loss for words. No matter what she says to her husband, it seems like she is just being unreasonable in his eyes. Anything she says, he has a reason to refute. In his view, nothing she does or says seems right.

Suddenly, she feels exhausted interacting with her husband. No matter what she says, it’s wrong. What is the point of being together like this? It might be better to separate sooner.

Zhang Zhentian fears his wife uttering words of refusal to him, so time and again he watches her with longing eyes, hoping she can give them some space and not make things so definite. He simply wants to stay by her side; why must she always reject him this way? By refusing him, will she truly feel happy?

Does staying by his side really make his wife this self-conscious and uncomfortable? The recurring pain ultimately torments his heart.

”Don’t say anything, just stay here peacefully. I just want to say, no matter the decision you make, I will support you. But at least please respect my own wishes, because I do care!”

Back then, naïve and silly, I thought everything could go as I imagined. But all this is just a deep-seated longing in my heart.
