My Alleged Husband

Chapter 1531: Chapter 1325: Fulfillment

Whose path of love isn’t filled with bumps and hurdles? Isn’t it laughable? In the end, I’m destined to grow old alone, and I’ve become the person I once detested the most. From now on, I won’t be the one by your side every day, and the promises I once made can no longer be fulfilled.

Ran Zhihan doesn’t know why I seem to be so agitated in the hospital. He smashed a cup, cutting his wrist with the shards. Blood gushed out, flowing down his arm like an unstoppable spring.

Zhang Yichen was outside discussing his wife’s condition with the doctor, completely unaware of what was happening inside the hospital room. He kept feeling that his wife’s situation was already quite dire.

He doesn’t worry about anything now; he only worries if his wife might encounter accidents at any moment. She is genuinely afraid. It’s been so difficult for them to reach this point after all these years together. No time has ever been as tense as now. He always thought he could live happily, but now that his parents have returned, achieving his long-held unfulfilled wish, yet his wife encountered an accident. If that’s really the case, how should he bear all this pain?

Zhang Ni was planning to see what state his mother was in today, whether things had improved. But upon entering the hospital room, he was almost scared to the point his heart stopped. His mother was lying in a pool of blood, her hand still bleeding profusely. His mother’s face was pale like a sheet of paper, devoid of any color. He couldn’t understand what could drive his mother to attempt suicide. Was this incident related to his father? Where was his father when his mother was in trouble?

When Zhang Yichen saw all the medical staff rushing towards his wife’s hospital room, he realized something wasn’t right. He quickly ran into the hospital room and saw his son holding his wife there, crying. He knew this incident had happened again, and it was yet another unfortunate situation. He didn’t know if this time his son would once again pin the weighty responsibility entirely on him.

”Doctor, please come quickly and check on my mother. As soon as I entered the room, I found her lying on the ground covered in blood. Her complexion has already turned so pale. I’ve done the simplest bleeding control on her hand, but seeing all that blood, I’m still quite worried.”

After examining Ran Zhihan’s wounds, the doctor said, ”I don’t understand why he attempted suicide again this time. His condition is very unstable now. If he encounters anything unhappy or something that troubles him deeply, he resorts to self-harming behavior. Such incidents might frequently happen in the future, so it’s best to always have someone around. Sometimes family members need to be by his side 24 hours a day to prevent any accident. Otherwise, if this situation happens again, it might be too late to save him. He’s already lost too much blood this time and needs an immediate transfusion, so please seriously consider how you should care for your wife, this patient. He cannot bear any disturbances at the moment, nor can he accept even a word of comment from anyone.”

When Zhang Ni saw his father at that moment, he realized his father had once again left his mother like this. He truly feared for his mother being with his dad, unable to bear such risk. All he wanted now was for his mother to be able to recover in peace, without any threats or harm. But why does everything have to be so difficult in the end? His mother is already in the hospital, so why won’t his father stay by her side a bit more?

”Dad, what did you promise me? You said you would stay by my mother’s side and never let anything happen to her, so what does today’s incident mean? Does anything you say still hold the slightest bit of meaning? Why do you always treat your family as people you can casually hurt? Just think about your actions. Have you ever done anything today that lives up to my mother’s sincere affection for you?

He’s become like this now, living in the hospital without any freedom in his life. Do you still wish to continue tormenting him? Why can’t you let my mother just have one peaceful day? You know better than anyone how tiring it’s been living this way for all these years. To the rest of the world, he’s the happiest woman in the world being with you. But whether she’s truly happy or exhausted inside, only you know. Whatever you give to her, she responds with all her heartfelt truth. Is treating her this way your way of repaying her?

You’re my father, and I never have the right to stand between the two of you and scrutinize or comment on anything. Nor do I have any right to judge each decision you make. But regarding my mother, I still hope you can treat her sincerely and not try to fool me. The one you’re deceiving isn’t me; it’s my mother. It’s yourself. You treat the feelings between you like bubbles, so what do all these things mean to you? Isn’t my mother exhausted living this way? Do you think she wanted to turn out like this? If she were clear-headed and normal now, seeing herself like this, do you think she wouldn’t be scared? She doesn’t want to live without dignity either, but she has no choice; she’s already become like this. She can only accept treatment. During the treatment process, she needs the accompaniment of you, her husband. Where is your companionship? If you truly accompanied her, how could she have the chance to attempt suicide?

Can’t you stop being like my grandfather? Whenever something happens and results in dire consequences, you think of shifting the blame onto others. Shifting responsibility is not a good way to face situations, nor does it solve the fundamental problems. By pushing responsibilities onto others time and again, what does that make you? Do your actions never make you reflect deep inside whether what you did was right or wrong? What have you turned your family into with every mistake you’ve made?”

Zhang Yichen knew that today’s incident was his oversight, so facing his son’s accusations, he had nothing to say in defense. He could only silently endure the self-blame his son directed onto him. As a husband, he was a total failure. His wife attempted suicide in the hospital room, and he had no clue, didn’t even hear a single sound. Even if he was alive in this world now, could he provide a happy and stable home for his wife? Maybe he never could!

Isn’t it laughable? All of this is my own doing. Even when I’m destined to grow old alone, the person I can’t forget from the bottom of my heart is still him. But what can I do to forget him...
