Transmigrated as a Peasant Baby Who is Pampered by All

Chapter 500: Chapter 310: Suggestions

By the time they returned home, it was already late afternoon. Upon seeing them from a distance, the Second Aunt quickly returned to the house. By the time they stopped at the back door, she had already brought out two bowls of iced jelly on a tray.

”I figured you’d be coming back soon, so I made some iced jelly. Eat it quickly to quench your thirst.”

As she spoke, she handed a bowl to both Jiang Hu and Yang Shulin, then said to Xiaomi, ”Xiaomi, your iced jelly is in the kitchen. Go eat it first.”

Saying this, she took the bamboo basket from Xiaomi’s hand, holding her other hand to lead her inside the house.

”What did you buy?”

Since they came back from the city, they must have bought something.

”It’s a little fox,” Xiaomi boasted excitedly, ”Mom, it’s a little white fox. It’s so beautiful.”

In the next second, she wilted again, ”But it’s a pity its leg is injured, and it’s quite serious.”

”A fox?” The Second Aunt was surprised, as she had never seen a fox before.

She ruffled Xiaomi’s hair, ”It’s okay, apply some medicine on it, find some herbal remedies soon. You see the goat we brought back yesterday, today it’s already much better.”

Xiaomi nodded, ”Okay, Mom, can I keep the little fox in my room? I’ll just make a little nest for it.”

”Alright, no problem. You rest a bit, I’ll go make a nest for the little fox,” she said.

The Second Aunt gestured for Xiaomi to head to the kitchen, then opened the bamboo basket for a peek. Indeed, it was an unfamiliar little animal, looking somewhat like a puppy but not quite the same.

Its white fur was indeed rare.

The little fox seemed a bit scared, curled up in a corner of the basket, letting out soft cries, sounding quite similar to a puppy.

Of course, not like the ’woof woof woof’ kind of sounds.

”So small, it’s hard to say if it’s even a month old yet,” the Second Aunt said as she covered the basket. ”Xiaomi, when you finish eating, go find your dad and bring back some fish. We’ll make fish soup tonight and give the little fox some.”

”Alright, got it.”

The Second Aunt went to find a bamboo crib and added some straw. It’s still a bit hot these days, so there’s no need for it to be too thick.

Coincidentally, when Little Black had puppies before, she made a small quilt out of old clothes. Now, as there are already four dogs, they no longer need it, and it can be used for the little fox.

The Second Aunt didn’t ask how much Xiaomi bought the fox for, though she guessed it wasn’t cheap, since foxes are rare to begin with, let alone a live, white one.

But it was rare for Xiaomi to have something she liked. Usually, she hardly spends any money. The brothers’ annual study fees are quite significant. Even Xiaoxue’s embroidery books cost quite a lot of silver.

Xiaomi, however, even if you wanted to spend money on her, you wouldn’t know where to start.

Food?

She loved homemade food, but wasn’t particularly fond of purchased foods, especially sweets. Aside from summer, when she likes ice shavings and iced jelly, she hardly eats sweets in winter.

Fun activities?

Besides hunting and practicing swordplay, Xiaomi wasn’t interested in anything else, not even hobbies like Xiaowei’s Seven-piece Lock.

Clothes?

Don’t even mention it. Despite making many pretty dresses for Xiaomi, she would only wear them if she wanted to!

Except when visiting others’ homes or attending important occasions where she wore new clothes and dresses, she mostly wore her practical work clothes.

She especially liked wearing old clothes, the more practical, the better. Unless they became too short, she would continue wearing them, even the shoes were straw sandals. Xiaoxue had made her many pretty shoes, but Xiaomi rarely wore them.

Despite bringing fortune to the family, raising them from poverty to their current status, whenever she wanted to repay this daughter, she honestly didn’t know how.

Thus, for anything Xiaomi wanted to do, the Second Aunt almost never objected—as long as it was safe to do so.

Since Xiaomi wanted to raise this little fox, she thought about how to keep the little fox alive and well.

Today was a bit muggy, the sun was blazing, but there was no wind at all. Without a doubt, it would rain in the next couple of days, heavy rain.

Xiaomi finished a bowl of iced jelly and was about to head to the backyard when her dad came in holding a bowl and a bucket.

”Dad, you brought back the fish?”

”For us to eat. By the way, it’s likely going to rain heavily in the next few days, so don’t go up the mountain tomorrow.”

”Okay.” Xiaomi took the bowl to help, ”Where’s Uncle Yang?”

”He went back first.”

”Dad, did you pay him?”

Jiang Hu casually patted Xiaomi’s head, ”Of course I did. Do I need you to remind me?”
