Transmigrated as a Peasant Baby Who is Pampered by All

Chapter 474: Chapter 296: Xie Fuya (2)

The courtyards of the two families were very close, with only a ditch separating the two walls. A pebble path was laid between the two gates, both anti-slip and waterproof.

The distance was so short that there was no need for an umbrella. Once out of the kitchen, Xie Fuya almost held onto her aunt’s wrist without letting go. The aunt, puzzled, simply followed her to Liu Qingfeng’s small courtyard.

Since there were only the two of them, they only built a small two-pound courtyard, with living quarters in the front and a cooking area in the back. To conveniently take care of the young mistress, Dream Peach Han Yan lived next to the main room.

Xie Fuya directly led her aunt to sit in the living room, then asked Han Yan to pour tea.

Aunt was a bit dazed by Xie Fuya’s series of actions and straightforwardly asked her, ”Xiao Ya, is there something you want to say to me?”

During introductions, Xie Fuya had said that calling her Xiao Ya was fine, so her aunt didn’t hold back.

To her aunt, Xie Fuya was no stranger; she was just Liu Bo’s granddaughter-in-law.

Xie Fuya blushed slightly and nodded, ”Auntie, actually I wanted to ask if, after this year’s rice harvest, you could save me a thousand pounds of rice.”

During this time, she had also inquired around the village. The Jiang family had planted five to six acres of rice fields, and with a yield of eight to nine hundred pounds per acre, they should be able to harvest five to six thousand pounds.

Xie Fuya was very surprised at this yield.

Though she hadn’t engaged in farming since childhood, she had basic knowledge. In her mind, the yield of one acre of rice would be at most two to three hundred pounds.

In recent years, she had heard that the county agricultural officer had obtained new seeds, significantly increasing many crop yields. However, she only knew roughly and hadn’t inquired about the specifics.

Only when she arrived at Xiangmu Village, seeing the bumper harvest of sorghum and corn, did she casually ask about rice and received an answer.

As for her desire to buy a thousand pounds of rice, she had other intentions.

The aunt didn’t know what Xie Fuya had in mind and said directly upon hearing: ”You mean this business? Didn’t your in-laws tell you? The grain your family has been eating these years, all came from our house.”

Xie Fuya quickly waved her hand: ”Aunt, you misunderstand. I know the food at home has always come from your house, but that’s not what I meant.”

The aunt was puzzled: ”Then what is it?”

Was she thinking of reselling it?

The aunt, no longer the initially timid and fearful young peasant woman, didn’t show a hint of her suspicion.

Xie Fuya smiled embarrassedly: ”You’ll laugh at me for this, Aunt. Actually, I want to buy some for my natal family. However, my natal family isn’t in Cheng County, and it would take quite some time to go back and forth. So I thought of buying it myself and sending it to them.”

Actually, this thought had been in Xie Fuya’s mind for a long time.

She and Liu Qingfeng had been married for two years, and she also knew about Second Uncle, Liu Ze’s situation. Back then, she wondered if the meals from the Jiang family were some kind of miracle cure that could even heal illnesses.

According to the servants, before meeting the Jiang family, Second Uncle had to spend at least a hundred taels of silver monthly on medicine to cure his illness, yet it was to no avail.

But at the Jiang family, no medicine was needed; all he had to do was eat their meals.

However, having lived with the Liu family for a long time, she found out that the Jiang family’s food indeed was a miracle cure!

Previously, during her menstrual period, she suffered unbearable abdominal pain, to the extent that she was bedridden at times. She had taken plenty of tonic medicine to no avail.

But after marrying into the Liu family and consuming, or more accurately, eating the grains bought from the Jiang family for several months, her abdominal pain gradually improved.

She vaguely remembered a doctor once saying that her body was the kind that would find it difficult to conceive, but when she asked her parents later, they said she must have misheard.

However, during her first year with the Liu family, when she showed no signs of pregnancy, even her mother-in-law was slightly displeased. This brought the matter back to her mind, further convincing her that she had not misheard.

Later, she secretly visited a doctor in disguise and was told that she had severe uterine coldness, which indeed made it difficult to conceive. But there were signs of improvement.

Five months ago, upon being diagnosed as pregnant, Xie Fuya was convinced that the Jiang family’s grain was truly something special, capable of healing!

Besides this, she had inadvertently overheard servants saying that her in-laws had been looking increasingly younger over the years, with even fewer gray hairs.

The servants speculated that it was because Second Uncle’s health improved, making the in-laws happy, which naturally made them appear younger.

But Xie Fuya knew it wasn’t that; it must be due to the Jiang family’s grain!

After all, her in-laws had been consuming the Jiang family’s grains and all kinds of eggs and meat for over five years!

However, Xie Fuya wasn’t a fool; her in-laws protected the Jiang family overtly and covertly, ensuring no one knew about the Jiang family’s situation.

She wasn’t an idiot, and she naturally realized that if this good thing from the Jiang family were known, even her in-laws wouldn’t be able to protect it.

Even moving from Fu’an Village to Xiangmu Village was a place her in-laws took a long time choosing. It was said that in the former village, the Jiang family’s reputation was too prominent and too unsafe.

Thus, Xie Fuya had never discussed her suspicions with anyone, including her husband and her own family.

But she constantly thought of her parents and brothers, so she wanted to buy some grain herself, have it sent back, change hands in between, and let no one know where the grain came from.

The aunt didn’t know that Xie Fuya’s simple few words were the result of long and careful consideration. Once Xie Fuya finished speaking, the aunt immediately agreed.

”I was wondering what the matter was; this is simple. No matter who it’s sold to, after the grain tax is paid, keeping what the family eats, and what your in-laws want to buy, whatever is left, you can decide however much you need.”

Xie Fuya, thrilled, held the aunt’s hand: ”Thank you, Aunt!”
