Transmigrated as a Peasant Baby Who is Pampered by All

Chapter 488: Chapter 304: Raising a Few Things

While lying in bed, the couple talked about what had just happened.

Finally, the wife sighed, ”The Liu family is truly good to us, sincerely thinking about our family. If it weren’t for their reminders, we wouldn’t have thought of these things at all.”

When Madam Liu mentioned that her two daughters had incomes and would support each other in the future, she understood.

This was clearly planning for their children’s married life in the future, whereas she, as a mother, hadn’t considered these things yet because her children were still young.

It was precisely because she understood Madam Liu’s implication that she didn’t say much and allowed Xiao Mi to accept the deed.

Now, hearing Jiang Hu mention Liu Hongcai’s advice on farming, she felt even more appreciative.

Jiang Hu nodded, ”Yes, for so many years, although we could say our crops grew well and the chickens, ducks, and geese were raised well, the truth is that without the Liu family, who knows if our produce could have been sold.”

Back when Tongfu Restaurant in Xiangma Town opened, wasn’t it because of the Liu family backing it up that no one gave them trouble?

The wife turned to her side, ”Brother Hu, the help the Liu family has offered our family isn’t something we can repay quickly, nor can we do much. Let’s just focus on farming, then. Plant more; besides, Xiao Ya wants to buy some grain for her family.”

Xie Fuya’s intention to buy a thousand pounds of grain was something she had told Jiang Hu about in the fields that afternoon.

Jiang Hu nodded, ”Alright, let’s focus on farming. The excess grain can be sold to the Liu family, and then they can resell it. It’s the only thing we can do now.”

We definitely can’t consume all that grain ourselves, and starting up a store isn’t feasible without connections, so focusing on farming and poultry is more practical.

”By the way, this year’s sorghum and corn yield is also good. You can inquire about it tomorrow.”

Wealthy families don’t eat coarse grains, but they’re good for making snacks.

The wife nodded, and after exchanging a few more words, they embraced and rested.

The three-month-long journey wasn’t something they could recover from quickly.

Early the next morning, except for Xiao Mi, who was most exhausted, everyone else got up half an hour earlier. Even Liu Qingfeng, hearing the commotion, also got up and followed his parents to the Jiang family for breakfast.

A bowl of vegetable leaf porridge, a boiled egg, and a few fried dumplings made for a hearty meal.

The carriage that was supposed to transport them hadn’t arrived yet, but the one from the Liu family was still there from yesterday.

Liu Hongcai said he and a few scholars would return to the city first while his wife, daughter, and youngest son stayed in the village until the carriage fetched them.

But as he said this, Jiang Yu shook his head in refusal.

”Uncle Liu, we got up early today specifically to walk to the academy, and so is Xiao Xue, walking to the embroidery shop.”

Liu Hongcai was surprised, ”Walk?”

”Yes, during our trip to Nanyang Prefecture, I noticed that many scholars focus solely on their studies and neglect physical exercise and life skills, making the exams more strenuous.”

”When Xiao Ze and I return from school each day, we help out in the fields, which can be considered a form of exercise, so our condition during exams is slightly better.”

Of course, there were those in better condition than us who walked with heads held high and strong strides, clearly physically trained.

Regardless of their results, at least they sustained no injuries during the nine days of exams.

”Really?” Liu Hongcai was surprised, turning to look at Liu Qingfeng beside him.

Liu Qingfeng gave an awkward smile, ”Dad, I’ll go along with my brothers from now on.”

In his heart, he felt quite helpless; first, he came to learn how to cook, and now he had to walk to school with his younger siblings.

The city gate was at least five kilometers away!

At a good pace, it would take nearly half an hour to get there!

Liu Hongcai could tell from a glance that his son didn’t mean what he said, but didn’t expose him and instead, put his hands behind his back and taught him.

”Yu’er is right; even for scholars, having a strong physique is indeed beneficial in daily life.”

Liu Qingfeng promptly replied humbly, ”I understand, father.”

Liu Hongcai chuckled, ”In that case, I’ll join you all in walking to the city today. In any case, I feel overly full from breakfast, and a walk would be good.”

”Master, why don’t we all walk back? The carriage can follow us from the side. Unlike these young people, if we get tired, we can ride the carriage.”
