Transmigrated as a Peasant Baby Who is Pampered by All

Chapter 476: Chapter 298: The Liu Couple

The weather was too hot, so Xiaomi ran from her house to Xiaocao’s house, sweating profusely.

Zhang Yuan had just fed the pigs and returned home, when he saw Xiaomi panting and carrying a lot of things, running towards their house under the scorching sun. He quickly called out to Xiaocao and went to the kitchen to fetch a bowl of water.

”Why did you come over in such a hot sun, Xiaomi? Why not rest at home?”

He handed her the tea bowl as he spoke. In summer, everyone was used to getting up in the morning and brewing a pot of fragrant dragon grass, so they could drink cool tea all day.

Xiaomi took the bowl and gulped down the tea. In her hurry, she had forgotten to drink water at home.

After finishing, she handed the bowl back to Zhang Yuan: ”Uncle Zhang, it’s been a while since I played with Xiaocao. I came to find her for some fun in the mountains.”

Just then Xiaocao came out, and Xiaomi handed her an oiled paper bag: ”This is a snack made by the maid of Brother Ze’s sister-in-law. It’s really yummy, try it.”

Actually, she hadn’t tried it yet, but Liu family’s sister-in-law had said that Mengtao was best at making snacks, so they must be delicious.

Xiaomi then pulled out two small pouches from her pocket: ”This is for you and your sister. I bought it in Southern Yangzhou, and I heard girls there love these patterns.”

Xiaocao had an older sister and a younger brother, the sister was ten and the brother just over two. Xiaomi didn’t often play with them, but she knew about them.

Xiaocao, who had just come out, was still a bit confused when her arms were suddenly filled with things.

Zhang Yuan gave her a pat, and she finally reacted: ”Thank you, Xiaomi.”

Then she clearly saw the two pouches in her arms and her eyes lit up: ”Wow, they’re so pretty!”

Xiaomi nodded repeatedly: ”Right? My second sister also said they look nice.”

Xiaomi herself didn’t have much concept of these things, but if her second sister said they looked good, then they must be good.

”Xiaomi, wait for me a bit, I’ll get my stuff.” Xiaocao knew Xiaomi’s straightforward nature after knowing her for so long, so naturally, she didn’t pretend to refuse.

Xiaomi’s mother also came out. They had probably just finished eating and were having a nap, not expecting Xiaomi to come over at this time.

Xiaocao’s mother invited her inside to sit for a while, but Xiaomi declined, saying she wanted to check on Xiaocao’s fragrant dragon grass. She paid no heed to Xiaocao’s mother’s suggestion to wear a hat and headed straight to the side of the house.

She remembered where Xiaocao had previously planted a few fragrant dragon grasses and saw that they were indeed withered under the hot sun.

Originally, when Xiaomi arrived at Xiaocao’s house, Little Black had stopped following. Now, it happily trotted over.

Lending Little Black’s shade, Xiaomi watered a few plants with Spiritual Spring water.

Just then, Xiaocao’s mother also came over: ”Xiaomi, why are you running so fast? Put on the hat quickly. Aren’t you going up the mountain? Wear it to avoid getting sunburned.”

”Oh, thank you, Auntie.”

Xiaomi called out to Little Black, and Xiaocao’s mother directly put the hat on Xiaomi and held another one in her hand.

Xiaocao quickly came out, carrying her gear and also bringing a bamboo tube of water.

Since Xiaomi left, Xiaocao had been practicing at home, not only exercising but also hunting in the mountains.

But without Little Black, she wouldn’t dare go too deep alone, only visiting places where they used to pick berries or pull fragrant dragon grass.

People also frequent these places, and it’s rare to encounter prey.

When they started heading out, Xiaocao noticed that Xiaomi had changed bows and arrows. The brand-new bow and arrows clearly looked much higher-grade than before.

”Xiaomi, you got a new bow? Is it easier to hunt with this?”

”Yes, it has more power. It can even pierce a regular wild rabbit with one arrow.”

”Wow, that’s amazing!”

”Yep, it’s from a new friend I know...”

Despite the heat, the two young girls eagerly headed up the mountain under the blazing sun.

Hearing Xiaomi talk about hunting a wild boar or how the two of them made quite a few silver taels through hunting in Fuzhou, they occasionally gasped in amazement.

Little Black hadn’t been up the mountain with her young owner for several months. Now following her, they weren’t taking the usual path behind the house but were incredibly happy, sometimes running far, sometimes close by.

What was most speechless was, even though originally only Little Black was following them, shortly after when Little Black ran far ahead and came back, it was carrying Little Mi along!

However, they had gotten used to this. Despite Little Mi’s tendency to appear and disappear mysteriously, it usually stayed not too far from Little Black and Xiaomi, its favorite thing being watching the excitement perching on a nearby tree whenever its young owner hunted.
