Transmigrated as a Peasant Baby Who is Pampered by All

Chapter 468: Chapter 293: The Five Little Ones

Although it was still early, after breakfast, the few who had just returned home couldn’t resist going back to their rooms to rest.

After swaying on the carriage for over twenty days, now even standing on the ground feels as if one is floating; it’s more solid to lie on the bed.

As for the crops in the fields, they’ve been away from home for so long, there’s no rush to tend to them today.

The only one in good spirits was probably Xiao Hua. Even Wei Ziang couldn’t hold up and went back to his room to rest.

However, Xiao Hua also stayed in his room for a while, tidying up his belongings.

The room was very clean, clearly having been specially cleaned in advance knowing they would return. Xiao Hua rolled around on the bed twice; indeed, only home is the most comfortable.

After lying down for a while, Xiao Hua couldn’t sit still: ”Let’s go check the fields.”

Perhaps because of having space, Xiao Hua’s spirits have always been particularly high, though the carriage was too cramped and made him uncomfortable. Now being home, he started thinking about those things from before.

He sneaked out directly; everyone was resting in their rooms. Liu Ze’s second sister-in-law and the others had also gone back to their own home; they came over especially today, probably to welcome them back.

Aunt Yang and Qi Xi have gone to work, and Uncle Liu is also not at home. If nothing unexpected happened, he should have gone fishing.

Xiao Hua slipped out through the back door, first going to see the Shanlong Grass he planted earlier. Originally there were only a few plants, but now they had grown into a large bush full of little flowers.

It won’t be long before he can harvest the seeds. Next spring, when he sows them in the fields, they should grow into a large patch.

”But such basic herbs are probably not worth much,” Xiao Hua watered the Shanlong Grass with some Spiritual Spring water.

Although it hasn’t been watered with Spiritual Spring water for three months, it’s grown quite well, certainly more lush than the wild weeds in the mountains.

Subsequently, Xiao Hua also took a tour of the cowshed and chicken coop. He didn’t do anything else except feed them all Spiritual Spring water.

The peacock, which is almost a year old, has grown quite a bit, almost the size of an egg-laying hen. Unfortunately, it still remains dull gray, without a single splendid feather to show off.

There’s still two more years to wait, Xiao Hua clicked his tongue twice, waiting it out.

He took another round to the pigsty. Now it’s cool, and everyone is busy in the fields. There are already more than a dozen pigs in the pigsty; the largest is just over a hundred pounds, while the smallest looks like it just arrived.

As usual, he placed Spiritual Spring water in each pig trough. After leaving the pigsty, he suddenly realized something seemed to be missing...

What was missing?

Suddenly, Xiao Hua clapped his hands: ”Oh dear, where have Xiaobei and the others gone?”

Not only was Xiaobei missing, but Xiaodong, Xiaonan, and Xiaobei were all not at home!

”Xiaobei~ Xiaobei, where are you, Xiaobei~”

He yelled directly outside the pigsty, cupping his hands like a megaphone, and shouted towards the mountain.

After shouting a few times, he belatedly remembered there was another one.

”Xiaomi, Xiaomi, where did you run off to?”

Xiaobei and Xiaomi, these two old pals, were inseparable back in Fu’an Village, and it was the same in Xiangmu Village.

Even going up the mountain, Xiaomi often followed Xiaobei, but because it’s a cat, it naturally didn’t like strangers, so even when on the mountain, Xiaomi would join but generally wouldn’t show itself.

But when they were at home, Xiaomi would appear openly, yet today it was nowhere to be seen.

”Xiao Hua? You all are back?”

The village chief came down from a nearby terraced field carrying sweet potato vines, somewhat surprised to see Xiao Hua: ”The dogs of your family should have gone up the mountain.”

”Village Chief Grandpa,” Xiao Hua greeted with a smile, and curiously asked: ”Do Xiaobei and the others often go up the mountain?”

”Not really; according to what Qixi from your family said, the dogs go hunting on the mountain every few days, and then bring back what they caught for Aunt Yang to cook for them.”

As the village chief spoke, he couldn’t help but feel envious: ”Your family is impressive. Even the dogs are skilled. I’ve heard that Xiaobei and the others even sell what’s left over from hunting.”

Xiao Hua blinked: ”Really? I didn’t even know.”

The village chief chuckled: ”It’s because when you were around, your family’s dogs never lacked food. Now that you’ve not been home these months, they probably have to fend for themselves.”

Just then, the sound of dogs barking came from the mountain. The village chief looked over and laughed: ”Looks like your Xiaobei is back. I’ll head back too.”

The moment the village chief left, a tall black figure sprang out of the forest, racing swiftly towards Xiao Hua.

Following close behind were three smaller figures, and when Xiaobei got closer, he saw that Xiaomi was actually lying on Xiaobei’s back, clinging tightly.

”Woof woof~” In the blink of an eye, Xiaobei was in front of him, kneeling down to hug Xiaobei’s neck: ”Xiaobei, Xiaomi, you’re back! Long time no see, I missed you both so much.”

With the other hand, he didn’t forget to stroke Xiaomi. Xiaobei was strong and sturdy, clearly a female dog of smaller stature but looking nothing like one, even taller than a regular male dog.

As for Xiaomi, it remained proud, only letting out two ’meow meow’ sounds at the young master’s touch, but its little eyes squinted in contentment under the young master’s strokes.

The other three quickly returned too, bouncing and jumping happily around Xiao Hua, full of excitement.

Xiao Hua petted each puppy’s head, then looked around. Seeing no one else around, he signaled Xiaobei to follow him.

Right next to them was the dog house, with a large dog dish the size of a soup bowl. Xiao Hua’s hand swept over it, producing a bowl of fragrant minced meat.

This was chicken, duck, and fish meat prepared in his space, all raised in his space. Ling’er would cook it into snacks for the cats and dogs, deboning everything and cutting it into small pieces.

These were precious bits of meat, seasoned only lightly, so humans could consume them too.

The aroma of cooked meat spread around, immediately drawing the attention of the Dong, Nan, and Bei, who dived toward the bowl, only to be stopped in their tracks by a stern ’woof’ from Xiaobei.

Xiao Hua petted Xiaobei’s head and directed the other three: ”Go eat.”

Given the order, the three puppies threw themselves into the large bowl, gobbling up happily.

They had been without such delicious food for as long as their young master had been away from home!

Xiao Hua chuckled, pulling out Xiaobei and Xiaomi’s bowls from his space, filling them with minced meat as well. Soon after, Dong, Bei, and Nan quickly finished their servings.

After refilling twice, he stopped even though they still wanted more, not wanting them to overeat, and just gave them some Spiritual Spring water.

Once they were all fed and watered, Xiao Hua collected Xiaobei and Xiaomi’s bowls and petted their heads again.

”Don’t all go up the mountain together from now on; you need to guard the house. Xiaobei, from now on take only one kid hunting each day, got it?”

The other two need to stay home to guard the place; there are so many chickens, ducks, and pigs, no room for carelessness.

For now, it’s fine because neither the livestock nor the grain has truly developed, but in two more years, when they’re thriving, people might start having ideas.

Moreover, this is not Fu’an Village, where it’s so close to the county town with many people around. In Xiangmu Village alone, there are more people than in three Fu’an Villages combined.

More people mean you don’t know who might harbor ill intentions, so it’s best to be cautious.

Xiaobei responded with a ’woof,’ and Xiao Hua guessed it must have understood.

Then she picked up Xiaomi, gesturing for Xiaobei and the others to follow: ”Let’s go take a bath.”

Noticing earlier how dusty they were, with lots of twigs stuck on them, it was clear they had been quite brave while hunting.

”Woof woof~” Unexpectedly, Xiaobei gave a few barks and turned to run.

”Hey, Xiaobei, where are you going?” Xiao Hua called several times but couldn’t get Xiaobei to return.

Unable to persuade it, he let it go, knowing Xiaobei was familiar with the mountain from hunting with him daily and even more so from these recent months of hunting with its kids.

Whistling, Xiao Hua led the deserted Dong, Nan, and Bei to the pond. With nothing else to do, he planned to give them a wash.

Oh right, and add some Spiritual Spring water to the pond. He must find time to go to the village pond as well.

Being away for three months, the slight amount of Spiritual Spring water he left before has diluted away, not to mention the creek water flows continuously.
