Transmigrated as a Peasant Baby Who is Pampered by All

Chapter 467: Chapter 292: Family

Until they heard the call for dinner from home, Xiaomi finally said goodbye to Xiaocao and agreed to go hunting together on the mountain tomorrow.

”Xiaocao is really amazing. Do you know, brother, Xiaocao’s muscles have grown on his arms, and he’s become much stronger!”

On the way home, Xiaomi expressed her envy, while making pinching gestures with her hands.

Wei Ziang was left speechless.

When the two of them were chatting just now, Xiaocao mentioned that he had been training his strength as Xiaomi taught him, and then Xiaomi, acting like a rascal, kept pinching Xiaocao’s arm for a long time.

Yet, Xiaocao himself didn’t feel anything was wrong and just let Xiaomi fiddle, pinching his arms and belly, asking if he had any abs.

Completely forgot that he was still there.

Xiaomi chirped on for a while before suddenly remembering something else.

”Oh right, brother, are you going to the academy tomorrow, or are you taking a break for a few days? Want to join us on the mountain tomorrow?”

Wei Ziang pondered for a moment and shook his head, ”I won’t go tomorrow; I’ll report to the academy first and greet the teacher.”

This trip to Nanyang Prefecture was essentially an unexcused absence, lasting three months. Now that he’s back, he must first pay respects to the teacher.

Xiaomi also felt it was necessary and lowered her voice as they neared home.

”Then study well recently, catch up on your missed lessons, and when the teacher is pleased, we’ll still meet on the mountain in the afternoons.”

It had been a whole three months that her brother hadn’t entered the space to absorb spiritual energy.

Even though the space was with her, and she could enter at any time, after leaving Xiangmu Village and the mountain pond that served as a cover, she really didn’t dare to bring Wei Ziang into the space elsewhere.

After all, according to her explanation, she had discovered a mysterious place on the back mountain of Xiangmu Village where they could conveniently practice swordsmanship.

If they were to go to another city, could the discovered place follow them there?

So, during these three months, Xiaomi didn’t lead Wei Ziang into the space even once.

Now that they are back, they need to resume practicing swordsmanship and continue to absorb spiritual energy.

Unfortunately, she could release water from the Spiritual Spring but had no way to bring out the spiritual energy from the space.

Unless the space upgrades again, causing spiritual energy to overflow, but that would only be temporary with no other effects.

Wei Ziang was unaware of Xiaomi’s thoughts, but he also missed the rapid progress he made when practicing swordsmanship on the mountain before.

Although he was skeptical about Xiaomi’s explanation, he didn’t delve into it further and hadn’t even tried to find the place on his own.

Since Xiaomi said so, he just believed it.

”Alright, once the teacher is satisfied, I’ll join you to practice swordsmanship again.”

”Come on, hurry back; talk at home while eating. Why are you standing there mumbling?”

Erlang was urging them, and Xiaomi bounced closer, ”Mom, what’s for dinner today?”

”Aunt Yang made your favorite meat buns and red bean paste buns, and there’s eight-treasure porridge cooked. Go eat quickly.”

Wei Ziang followed closely, calling Aunt, and was pulled home by Erlang, one in each hand.

”Wow, that’s great!” Xiaomi instantly became cheerful, ”How did Aunt Yang know we were coming back today? These were prepared in advance, right?”

She talked to Xiaocao for only about half an hour, not enough time for the dough to rise.

”Yes, they say Xiao Ze’s parents got the news yesterday and knew we’d come back early today, so they sent word yesterday, and Aunt Yang started preparing early.”

”I see. Uncle Liu is amazing, already guessing that Brother Ze would come back to our house first today.”

Erlang was not surprised, ”Xiao Ze is in poor health, so he’ll definitely stay with us to recuperate first and then return to his parents when he feels better.”

During the chat, they arrived at the kitchen, where Aunt Yang, with a beaming smile, was serving freshly steamed buns and inviting everyone to eat, while a young maid helped serve the eight-treasure porridge.

Besides, a young lady, probably around seventeen or eighteen, was also seated at the table, but her noticeably protruding belly could not be entirely concealed even under loose clothing.

This was Liu Qingfeng’s wife, who had moved in a day before their departure, and everyone knew her.

Wei Ziang and Xiaomi both greeted her in unison as ’Sis.’

Calling her the Second Lady seemed too formal; it was simply following Liu Ze’s example to call her Sis. Although Liu Ze had no blood relation to the Jiang family, the children were as close as siblings.

Liu Qingfeng’s wife’s maiden name was Xie, and her name was Fuya.

Xie Fuya nodded with a smile, ”Xiaomi, Ziang, you’re back. I’m not getting up since I’m not feeling well.”

Xie Fuya was undoubtedly the epitome of a noble young lady: gentle, virtuous, and with the ideal temperament to be the head of the household.

However, her face now seemed softer and more maternal due to her pregnancy.

Xiaomi was seeing someone pregnant for the first time and couldn’t help but sit closer to her.

”Sis, how many months is the baby now? I heard pregnancy is tiring. Are you feeling tired?”

Like a curious baby, she stared at Xie Fuya’s belly.

”By the way, I saw that the next courtyard is already built. Is that your and Second Brother’s new home? How do you feel now? Are you still uncomfortable?”

Pregnancy depression is a common hormonal change-induced psychological disorder, similar to postpartum depression, and can have varying degrees of severity.

Milder cases may resolve quickly; severe cases may cause harm to both mother and child.

Xie Fuya shook her head with a smile, ”Thank you for your concern, Xiaomi. I’m fine. Living in Xiangmu Village this time feels much better than living in town. Just stepping outside to see vast fields lifts my spirits, and I don’t feel uncomfortable at all.”

”The little courtyard next door was completed a month ago, and it’s just me and your Second Brother living there. If you ever get bored, come and find me. My family’s Mengtao learned from a pastry chef in the Capital City.”

This last sentence was clearly intended for Xiaomi.

While Xiaomi might not be a foodie, she is definitely curious and loves to try new things.

Over the years, Erlang’s cooking skills improved largely because of Xiaomi, who would mention one thing today and another next year, or sometimes point out things on trees to her mother.

And since Erlang adores her daughter, she’d experiment with whatever Xiaomi mentioned.

Upon hearing Xie Fuya’s words, Xiaomi’s eyes lit up, ”Really? Then Sister Mengtao is amazing!”

Xie Fuya nodded, ”Not just that, Mengtao excels in making pastries while Han Yan is great at cooking. If Auntie gets busy, you can come to our place to eat.”

When they came to stay in Xiangmu Village, her parents-in-law had advised her to interact more with Xiaomi while nurturing the baby.

Though uncertain about her in-laws’ intentions, Xie Fuya was not naive. Her in-laws had a good relationship with the Jiang family, indicating the Jiang family’s unique qualities.

Since her in-laws specifically asked her to get along with Xiaomi, she naturally wouldn’t act recklessly.

Moreover, living at the Jiang household for the past few months, she had heard from Grandpa and Aunt Yang and others like Qixi about many things regarding the Jiang family, with frequent praise for Xiaomi’s cleverness.

Clearly, everyone liked Xiaomi.

From their brief interaction before departure, Xie Fuya had already seen that Xiaomi was polite and adorable, instantly liking her.

Yet, three months apart, during which she was filled with curiosity about Xiaomi, she also felt quite eager for her return.

Luckily, Liu Qingfeng wasn’t aware of his wife’s thoughts. If he knew that while carrying his child, she was thinking of others, who knows how jealous he might become?

Aunt Yang brought another tray of buns, ”Miss Xiaomi, these buns today were made by Han Yan; I only assisted. Have a taste; they’re delicious.”

The serving maid quickly added, ”Aunt Yang, please don’t praise me like that; I just know a little.”

It seemed that she was Han Yan, and the one accompanying Xie Fuya should be Mengtao.

Then Han Yan said, ”My cooking isn’t anything special, mainly because the grains here are excellent. That’s the true reason. Without them, nothing I make would taste good.”

Just the village’s ingredients alone greatly enhanced the flavor of the food.

”Alright, alright, stop complimenting each other. Your cooking is great; let’s eat first and chat later,”

said Liu Bo, who had just entered the kitchen.

”Grandpa Liu!” Xiaomi jumped from Xie Fuya’s side with a swish.

Liu Bo beamed, ”Xiaomi’s back! Finally, you’re back. If you hadn’t returned, I’d have gone to Nanyang Prefecture to find you.”

”Isn’t it too far away, Grandpa Liu? Have you eaten?”

”Knowing you’d return today, I’ve been waiting to eat with you. Grandpa is almost starving.”

Everyone sat together, happily enjoying breakfast. To an outsider, it might seem as if they were all family.
