Transmigrated as a Peasant Baby Who is Pampered by All

Chapter 461: Chapter 288: The Decision (Part 2)

After nine days without a bath, and in the summer, even if we could buy water to wipe ourselves down at night, we still inevitably carried a heavy scent on our bodies.

”The hot water is ready, young masters, after you finish your egg custard, take a bath first.”

Master Yang brought over two bowls of egg custard and then looked at the others: ”No one has eaten breakfast yet, let’s have breakfast first.”

Everyone ate breakfast while listening to the two talk about their experiences in the examination hall.

According to Jiang Yu, nine days is not actually difficult. What is difficult is that many people only focus on studying and lack any life skills or physical exercise.

Moreover, with everyone eager to pass the exams and earn a title, the psychological pressure during these nine days is immense, and those with weaker endurance find it hard to cope.

Plus, it’s summer now, and the examination hall is crowded. Even though ventilation is as good as it can be, it still gets stiflingly hot in the afternoon.

It is because of these accumulated reasons that so many people collapse during every exam.

But the journey of the imperial examinations inherently cannot be smooth. The more difficult it is, the more it tests a person’s willpower.

However, with Jiang Yu and Liu Ze leading the way for these nine days, making fried eggs, cooking dishes, making lean meat porridge, and also having mung bean soup, egg drop soup, and fried egg noodles.

Almost every meal, the delicious smell directly made the surrounding people drool.

If those people weren’t really too dull, perhaps after this experience, they should start learning to cook by themselves.

Jiang Yu actually thinks that cooking with heart also particularly adjusts one’s mood and relieves pressure, making the mind clearer when writing essays.

Of course, this is based on liking and enjoying the process.

After eating, the two were urged to take a bath, clean themselves up, dry their hair, feel extremely comfortable, then eat another bowl of porridge and some chicken before returning to their room to sleep.

After all this tidying up, it was almost noon. Jiang Hu brought two pots of ice into their room and took out their dirty clothes.

”They’ve gotten thinner.” Jiang Hu felt distressed.

No matter how easily his son described it, staying in such a small space for nine days, handling all life necessities there, while enduring the pressure of exams and writing essays, and being unable to speak to others to prevent cheating, was no small feat.

Forget about twelve-year-old kids, even adults would struggle to cope.

Though their spirits looked fine, it was visibly clear that both had lost quite a bit of weight.

No wonder people always say that taking one exam is followed by a bout of illness. 𝑓𝑟ℯℴ𝓂

Second mother was already washing clothes, not just her, the other few children were helping too, with over a dozen sets of clothes.

Second mother sighed; she also felt pain. Since settling in Fu’an Village, the children had never suffered or starved, not even during the drought.

Who would have thought that just taking an exam would make the two well-fed children lose so much weight at once.

This is only the first time. If they have the ability, won’t they have to come back next year for the college exam, and later for the provincial exam, metropolitan exam, and so on, enduring hardships?

But as their mother, she knows that although it hurts her to see them suffer, these are experiences the children must go through. The more they go through these, the more capable they become!

”Dad, mom, you don’t have to worry too much. Big brother and Brother Ze are just a bit tired. After a few days’ rest, they’ll be fine, don’t worry.”

Xiao Mi comforted her parents, although big brother and Brother Ze were weak, it hadn’t affected them fundamentally. They just needed to rest well and eat a couple of good meals to recover, so there was no need to worry at all.

Before her parents could nod, Wei Ziang suddenly spoke up.

”During spare time from studying, they can also exercise a bit, and Brother Qingfeng too, so by the next exam, it’ll be much better.”

Xiao Mi nodded repeatedly: ”Yes, yes, let them get up half an hour early every day, run around the village, and then go to the academy, their stamina will improve a lot.”

Before learning to hunt, she specifically ran for half a year, which greatly improved her stamina and endurance.

”There’s no need to run specifically; they can just skip the carriage and jog directly from home to the academy.”

After Wei Ziang finished speaking, he glanced at Jiang Wei and Xiao Xue: ”Little Wei and Second Sister can go for a slow run too, it’s good for the body.”

”Yes, yes, little brother, you’re so smart, running is great. It not only improves physical fitness but also reduces sickness in the future. It’s good for the bones too; it makes fractures less likely even if you fall.”

Second mother, who had been listening to the conversation, finally glared at Xiao Mi: ”What are you talking about fractures, why say such ominous things?”

Xiao Mi stuck her tongue out, knowing she’d said the wrong thing. Even if it was true, in her parents’ eyes, it was inauspicious and should not be mentioned.

Jiang Wei pulled a long face: ”Oh come on, little brother, why include me, I’m not even taking the exam.”

Then his mother glared at him: ”You’re not taking it now, but are you never going to take it? I think your little brother is right, you should all exercise well.”

After saying that, she looked at Xiao Xue, hesitated for a moment, but still nodded.

”Xiao Xue can participate too. Isn’t it said that running is good for health? When girls grow up, they often feel discomfort, being healthy makes it much easier, right, Hu?”

Second mother’s words were subtle, but with so many children, Jiang Hu understood his wife’s meaning clearly.

As girls grow up, without good health, they experience severe pain monthly. Even after having two children in recent years, Second Mother still sweated with pain each month.

Especially when in good health, childbirth is safer; physically fragile mothers can easily face trouble for both themselves and the child.

Thinking of this, Jiang Yu promptly nodded.

”That’s right, when you return, you shouldn’t take the carriage to the academy anymore. Get up early every morning and run or walk to the academy yourselves.”

So this decision was made without Jiang Yu and Liu Ze knowing anything.

As for whether Liu Ze’s parents would agree?

There’s no worry at all. As long as it’s good for Liu Ze’s health, I’m sure Uncle Liu and the others would agree. This is based on experience.
