Inheritance of Two Trillion

Chapter 2736: Chapter 1948: A Meal Upon Reunion (Part 2)

Bai Xiaosheng, with his voice down, finally pulled back his gaze and thoughts, and looked forward.

Seemingly far away behind the desk, someone was indeed watching him, and it appeared to be Bai Xuanyu.

Bai Xiaosheng walked over immediately.

The journey from his position to there seemed to take a long time.

During this period, Bai Xuanyu did not get up, just watched Bai Xiaosheng walk over.

Until Bai Xiaosheng stood a few steps away from the desk, stopped, Bai Xuanyu then greeted him lightly, ”Long time no see, Bai Xiaosheng.”

”It has been a long time, Mr. Bai Xuanyu.” Bai Xiaosheng smiled, corrected himself, ”No, it’s Mr. Acting Chairman.”

Looking at Bai Xuanyu in front of him, Bai Xiaosheng still remembers the scene when they first met, which ended unhappily.

Bai Xuanyu pointed to the seat in front of his desk, saying, ”Give Mr. Bai a seat.”

The middle-aged secretary beside him moved at the sound, brought over a chair.

Bai Xiaosheng was not polite, walked over, and sat down opposite Bai Xuanyu.

Bai Xuanyu stared at Bai Xiaosheng, and Bai Xiaosheng met his gaze.

Bai Xuanyu raised his hand and waved outwardly, the middle-aged secretary immediately left.

A few minutes later, only the two were left in this huge office.

”Bai Xiaosheng, you really surprised me. I didn’t expect you’ve become a chieftain in Africa.” Bai Xuanyu said sincerely.

Other than a slight sigh, Bai Xuanyu’s voice revealed no other emotion.

”Not a term.” Bai Xiaosheng corrected with the same tone, ”Except for not inheriting, mine is a lifetime tenure, there is no such thing as stepping down. So, one term is inaccurate.”

Bai Xuanyu showed a faint smile at Bai Xiaosheng’s seriousness, ”Anyway, it’s good. I thought if you were content to be a chieftain, your life would be complete.”

Was this an acknowledgment or suggestion?

Bai Xiaosheng shook his head, ”I still like to dominate the business world, favor grand and unique conglomerates.”

Bai Xuanyu said nothing.

Bai Xiaosheng looked around and said, ”Your place is big enough to echo, does one need to be so extravagant?”

Bai Xuanyu also glanced around, saying, ”It’s not just an office; it’s also a front. As the chairman’s office of Zhenbei Group, it couldn’t be too stingy.”

”Do you feel lonely here by yourself?” Bai Xiaosheng asked seriously.

Bai Xuanyu was silent for a moment, then admitted, ”Being on top naturally comes with loneliness. To sit in this position, one must bear and sacrifice. I’m prepared for it, but others might not be. I’m willing to give everything for the group, others might not.”

”How would you know if others don’t try?” Bai Xiaosheng said.

Bai Xuanyu stared at Bai Xiaosheng again, and Bai Xiaosheng chose to meet his gaze.

”Moreover, not all roads lead to your path.” Bai Xiaosheng said, ”Don’t consider your path as unique.”

Bai Xuanyu didn’t refute, didn’t reprimand, just said calmly, ”I called you here not to discuss life.”

”For a meal?”

”Just for a meal.”

Bai Xiaosheng nodded, muttering to himself, ”Having a meal is good, I’m hungry now.”

Bai Xuanyu raised his hand and tapped the bell on the table, but no sound was heard.

Indeed, with such a large room and the door closed, it would take a significant noise for the outside to hear.

Probably connected to an external electric bell.

Not long after, footsteps were vaguely heard from behind, Bai Xiaosheng turned around to see the middle-aged secretary bringing someone over, each holding a tray, seemingly serving dishes.

”With such a long distance, serving dish by dish is tough on the staff, and by the time they bring it over, it might be a bit cold.” Bai Xiaosheng joked.

Bai Xuanyu didn’t respond.

When the middle-aged secretary brought someone over, placing a tray in front of both Bai Xiaosheng and Bai Xuanyu, they left without a word.

Bai Xuanyu made a ”please” gesture to Bai Xiaosheng.

Bai Xiaosheng lifted the lid on the tray, seeing it steaming hot, the tray evidently had a warming function.

As the steam dissipated a bit, Bai Xiaosheng saw a bowl of rice, a dish plate with four dishes, two meat and two vegetables, and a bowl of soup.

Isn’t this a cafeteria boxed meal?

It’s the same over at Bai Xuanyu’s side.

”I usually eat here at noon, meals from the employee cafeteria, quite authentic.” Bai Xuanyu picked up the chopsticks, saying, ”Don’t be polite, here, only eating has no etiquette involved. Eating is just eating, pretending otherwise is useless.”

Saying this, Bai Xuanyu started eating the rice and dishes heartily.

Bai Xiaosheng smiled and followed suit.

The whole morning, with continuous visits, indeed tired Bai Xiaosheng, and talking person after person wore him out.

At this moment, he simply let loose, one word, eat.

Cafeteria food can’t be expected to match a chef’s skills, but it truly is delicious.

Bai Xiaosheng shoveling rice into his mouth glanced at Bai Xuanyu opposite, eating with no airs, suddenly said vaguely, ”Is it only when you’re eating that you feel a bit down to earth, a bit of smoke and fire?”

Bai Xuanyu paused slightly, then also vague said, ”Though eating has no etiquette, avoid talking while eating, easy to choke...”

Without finishing, Bai Xuanyu already choked, picked up the bowl of simple egg soup and drank.

Bai Xiaosheng did the same.

During the lunch, the two devoured everything, leaving nothing behind.

After the meal, Bai Xuanyu wiped his mouth with a wet towel, covered the meal box, pressed the bell on the table, returning to his former unsmiling visage.

Bai Xiaosheng studied him, really wondering if he had been hallucinating, seeing a false Bai Xuanyu earlier.

Bai Xuanyu watched Bai Xiaosheng also cover the box cleanly, saying, ”This meal improved my impression of you somewhat. You don’t fake eating, have no picky preferences.”

Bai Xiaosheng smiled, ”To me, I enjoy gourmet meals, but I also like meals with grounded flavors. You truly opened my eyes.”

While talking, the middle-aged secretary again came with someone to remove the trays, delivering two cups of warm green tea to both.

After the secretary left, Bai Xiaosheng took a sip of tea, saying, ”Did you call me just for a meal?”

Bai Xuanyu didn’t answer immediately, drank tea, put down the cup and said, ”Otherwise, should I condescendingly commend your work or pick it apart? I don’t have that time, just wanted to see you, see if you’re still as annoying as when we first met. Fortunately.”

”I’m honored that Mr. Acting Chairman’s impression of me changed today.” Bai Xiaosheng smiled.

Bai Xuanyu raised his hand directly, maked a ”stop” gesture, ”Bai Xiaosheng, I didn’t say my impression changed, if anything, I merely find your eating less unpleasant, but this doesn’t mean I like you or that my former judgment of you changed. Frankly, I still think it’s great if you sincerely serve the group, but if you covet what’s not yours... best not to think.”

Bai Xiaosheng laughed, ”I said, Mr. Acting Chairman, we can’t be friends. Because in some aspects, our differences are too great!”

”Well, the meal is done too, if there’s nothing else, I’ll take my leave.” Bai Xiaosheng rose.

Bai Xuanyu didn’t stop him, nor did he retain him.

Bai Xiaosheng turned, walked out.

Bai Xuanyu watched Bai Xiaosheng’s back, finally spoke, ”Soon, the top level will convene a meeting, also the reason for your return. Through this meal, I wanted to tell you, any decision is after the group’s careful consideration. Hope you don’t resist, firmly execute.”

Bai Xiaosheng gestured that he heard.

Besides that, Bai Xiaosheng said no more, striding away.
