Inheritance of Two Trillion

Chapter 2709: Chapter 1936: Hidden Dangers Amidst Drinks (Part 2)

Thinking about it this way, it does seem logical...

”Mr. Maiyous,” Anlos greeted Mr. Maiyous with a smile.

Mr. Maiyous suppressed his inner doubts, appearing calm on the surface, and smiled back at Anlos.

While shaking hands, Anlos discreetly winked at Mr. Maiyous when Bai Xiaosheng and others weren’t paying attention.

This little gesture was quite meaningful!

Mr. Maiyous immediately understood, maintaining only a superficial politeness with Anlos without revealing their relationship.

Once everyone had exchanged greetings but before they took their seats, someone called out loudly, ”We’re late.”

Everyone present turned to look in the direction of the voice and saw a servant leading in two more people.

These two walked side by side with smiles on their faces.

Seeing them, the smile on Mr. Maiyous’s face momentarily stiffened, his eyes reflecting disbelief.

Even Jim and Levante were taken aback.

Those two were not ordinary people; one was Brady, and the other was Hogson!

What brought them here!

And they came together!

”Oh, did you two come together?” Anlos asked with a smile, speaking on behalf of Mr. Maiyous.

”It’s quite the coincidence. I ran into Mr. Brady at the entrance of the Walking Palace, so we came in together,” Hogson explained with a smile.

While looking around at everyone, Hogson deliberately cast a deep gaze at Mr. Maiyous, seemingly with hidden meaning in his eyes.

Brady’s face remained unchanged, giving no hint of anything.

Mr. Maiyous appeared calm outwardly, but inside he was stormy and tumultuous.

Anlos, Brady, and Hogson appearing here together—was this a coincidence?

Mr. Maiyous was naturally willing to think so, but he also felt something was amiss.

Not only him, but even Levante and Jim were starting to feel suspicious.

At this moment, Mr. Maiyous and the others heard Chen Feiqiu laughingly say, ”I’ve rarely been able to invite so many esteemed guests, with Mr. Maiyous himself present, we must not leave until we’re drunk.”

Hearing Chen Feiqiu’s words, Mr. Maiyous was touched.

If this future Supreme Chieftain was hosting such a gathering under Bai Xiaosheng’s name, and Anlos and the others attended to honor it, it would make perfect sense and not be so peculiar.

Mr. Maiyous felt a bit more at ease.

After exchanging greetings, everyone took their seats.

Sitting down, Mr. Maiyous noticed something amiss.

Excluding Bai Xiaosheng in the host’s seat, there were three people on his side: himself, his son Jim, and his daughter Lorna, with an empty seat between Jim and Lorna.

Opposite them were Chen Feiqiu, Anlos, Brady, and Hogson in that order.

It all felt vaguely unbalanced and awkward...

Mr. Maiyous immediately asked Jim and Lorna to leave their seats.

”Please, everyone, feel free to be comfortable today,” Chen Feiqiu chimed in with a smile.

With Chen Feiqiu speaking, Mr. Maiyous had no choice but to have Jim sit back down.

As for Lorna, she had no intention of listening.

”Maybe I’m overthinking, but it’s just the seating order. We happen to have four seats on this side, so they had to sit over there,” Mr. Maiyous could only comfort himself this way.

Just as he was thinking, Bai Xiaosheng raised his cup with a smile and said to everyone, ”Today is truly a happy day, with so many esteemed guests filling the house. I propose we raise a glass to everyone’s health and prosperous business!”

Chen Feiqiu, Anlos, Brady, and Hogson all raised their glasses in response, with Mr. Maiyous joining them.

After the first glass of wine, Bai Xiaosheng signaled for the dishes to be served, and the group ate while engaging in conversation.

Chen Feiqiu seemed very interested in the Maiyous Family’s affairs in East Africa and kept asking questions.

Mr. Maiyous had no choice but to respond with a smile, respecting the future Supreme Chieftain.

Bai Xiaosheng, Anlos, and others would occasionally join in the conversation.

The atmosphere at the banquet was harmonious.

When the wine had been poured three rounds and the dishes served five flavors,

Bai Xiaosheng suddenly smiled and said, ”Everyone, let’s drink openly since we’re happy today. I noticed Mr. Maiyous was sharing interesting business stories; how about each of you share something amusing you’ve encountered lately to liven up the drinking spirit?”

Feeling parched from speaking, Mr. Maiyous also thought about taking a break and smiled, ”I think Mr. Bai’s suggestion is excellent.”

Everyone else nodded in agreement.

”Where shall we start?” Bai Xiaosheng looked over to Anlos and the others, smiling. ”As the host, shouldn’t I speak last?”

No one had any objections.

”Why don’t we follow the seating order?” Chen Feiqiu suggested, looking at Hogson with a smile. ”Mr. Hogson, would you start?”

”Me?”

Hogson pointed to himself, and seeing no objections, he smiled and shrugged, ”Alright, I’ll go first.”

With everyone watching, Hogson smiled and said, ”In the past, I wouldn’t have been qualified to sit with you all. I must thank Mr. Maiyous whose family’s ventures into East Africa opened up many markets here, giving my family the opportunity to grow and thrive. I am truly grateful to Mr. Maiyous.”

The way he said it, there was something odd about it...

However, in the presence of the group, Mr. Maiyous smiled graciously.

”Not long ago, a presence that my family had never dared to aspire to returned to West Africa. The clan leader contacted me, half threatening, half enticing. I was truly frightened, just a joke. But a few years ago, how could I have dared to refuse? Times have changed, and now I’m united with you all. For them to try and intimidate me felt laughable. It’s as if they think I’m a three-year-old, someone easily scared into compliance with mere threats and promises. Don’t you think some people, no matter their rank, grow more naive with age...”

Hogson joked, and everyone present couldn’t help but chuckle and tease him further.
