Inheritance of Two Trillion

Chapter 2714: Chapter 1938: An Unexpected Turn of Events

The second day after the agreement reached between the Maiyous side and Bai Xiaosheng’s side, in North America, Caroline did not go to the Group, but stayed at home, remaining in her study.

Today was the day Caroline had agreed upon with Maiyous, when they would join forces to make a move against Bai Xiaosheng.

Early in the morning, Caroline was fully prepared, planted in her study like she was sitting in the central command tent.

On one hand, she was waiting for the time to give the order, to have those companies she had arranged make their move against Bai Xiaosheng.

On the other hand, she was also keeping a close eye on news developments from Oshan, as well as messages from the Maiyous Family.

Caroline’s trusted confidante and favored general, Bernice, was also in the study, accompanying her.

This time, Bernice was fully in charge of helping Caroline contact and coordinate the heads of various companies.

The heads of those companies secretly controlled by Caroline had, until now, been virtually unknown to anyone but Caroline herself.

By Caroline’s usual cautious standards, this matter should never have been handled entirely by a single person; this time was purely a special case.

At the moment, Bernice was the only confidante Caroline could completely trust.

Speaking of it, Caroline had a very pronounced characteristic when it came to using people—she was cold-blooded and ruthless, indifferent and unfeeling.

No matter how many years someone had followed her, once she felt they were unreliable or no longer trustworthy, she would discard them like worn-out shoes.

Under Caroline’s hand, one could say she burned through talent.

Originally, Caroline had wanted to select some clan relatives within the family to cultivate as close confidants.

But lately affairs were many and her standards extremely high, so this matter had been delayed.

Her younger brother Robert, after some tempering, had finally made her feel he was decent enough to be nurtured.

However, this time Robert happened to clash with Bernice in opinion and, in a bit of a sulk, went off to help inspect external family enterprises; after a few comings and goings, that left only Bernice available.

Fortunately, Bernice was highly capable, and Caroline felt relatively at ease with her.

Early in the morning, Bernice, like a dispatch runner, continuously relayed all kinds of information to Caroline.

”The letters of accusation from those company heads in South America were the first to receive your approval. After another round of internal self-inspections on all fronts, they will be the ones to initiate the accusations first.”

”The heads of those companies in Europe are already prepared, they’ve patched up the minor loopholes, and can start at any time.”

”Here in North America, according to your instructions, we unified and polished the detailed statements; there are absolutely no issues.”

”As for those few company heads in Africa, they have just had contact with Bai Xiaosheng over the past period; their accusations will be the most convincing.”

...

Listening to the reports, Caroline nodded slightly.

Back when Bai Xiaosheng was promoted to be the No.2 of Headquarters’ Audit and Inspection Department, he had been responsible for auditing and investigating Group enterprises across all continents, and had even sent his own people everywhere to understand the situation on the ground.

The incidents and timelines Caroline had arranged for these company heads to accuse Bai Xiaosheng over could withstand scrutiny and investigation.

As long as they sank their teeth into Bai Xiaosheng and refused to let go, it would be difficult to clarify things in a short time.

At that point, there would be the internal onslaught from the Headquarters’ Vice Directors, and externally, the ferocious assault on Bai Xiaosheng by the strongest business family in West Africa—the Maiyous Family.

Bai Xiaosheng would inevitably suffer on both fronts, unable to take care of inside and outside!

Once trapped in the vortex, there would certainly be a ”when a wall collapses, everyone pushes” situation; by then, total ruin of reputation was entirely possible!

Just thinking of such a delightful ending made Caroline’s eyes burn like torches, unable to conceal the excitement in her heart.

But no matter how elated she was inside, on the surface Caroline remained impassive. Sitting behind her desk, one snow-white jade hand propping up her chin, she said, ”Any news from Maiyous’s side?”

”Nothing yet,” Bernice said. ”Back then, both sides agreed that unless there was a special situation—either tremendous good news or a sudden major upheaval—there would be no contact.”

No contact was in itself a signal.

At the very least, it indicated that the situation was stable.

Caroline nodded slightly at this.

This sort of thing couldn’t be rushed; what she wanted was reliability.

”These past two days, any news from Oshan’s side? Has anything about Bai Xiaosheng been exposed?” Caroline asked again.

Bernice shook her head. ”No.”

”Do you think that’s normal? Previously, according to the information from Maiyous’s side, the Anlos Family had already submitted a protest to Oshan about terminating cooperation with them and against Bai Xiaosheng, and yesterday the Hogson Family also filed theirs. And yet not a single piece of news has come out?” Caroline asked.

Asking Bernice this was just casual discussion; Caroline doubtless already had her own judgment in mind.

”I think this is very normal. You can rest assured,” Bernice said firmly.

”The cooperation between Oshan and the various great families has only just started to show results, and they immediately encounter this kind of incident, caused moreover by a newly appointed Chieftain. I imagine they will definitely implement strict control over public opinion, perhaps even ensure that not a shred of information leaks out, and instead send people privately to contact each family and resolve it.”

”Right now, it’s likely undercurrents beneath a calm surface. As long as we coordinate our side well, it’s entirely possible for Bai Xiaosheng to quietly ’drown’ in the West African business world!”

Bernice was brimming with confidence.

This was precisely the confidence Caroline wanted; she immediately smiled. ”Better not let him die too quietly. I’d like him to splash some water... Once things blow up on our side, we’ll leak a bit of information to the media over there.”

At this, Bernice tentatively asked, ”Will Maiyous’s side be displeased...?”

Caroline’s approach could be called acting on her own initiative, and whether leaking the news would bring some trouble down on the Maiyous Family was still unknown.

After all, Maiyous’s goal was not to put Bai Xiaosheng to death, but to force Oshan to make concessions so they could re-divide the market; tearing down Bai Xiaosheng’s platform was merely a means to destroy in order to rebuild.
