Inheritance of Two Trillion

Chapter 2715: Chapter 1938: An Unexpected Turn of Events (2)

Caroline’s eyes flashed slightly as she smiled and said, ”I just need to push Maiyous a bit to make him take one more step in the direction I anticipate!”

If Maiyous heard these words from Caroline, he’d probably feel a chill.

This woman, who doesn’t even spare her allies, is undeniably ruthless.

Bernice nodded in agreement, saying, ”Then on our side, can we start now.”

”Hmm...” Caroline paused, still pondering.

”Miss Caroline, it’s already time as scheduled with the Maiyous Family, I think since we’re taking action, it’s better to do it sooner rather than later!” Bernice urged anxiously.

She also wanted to proceed quickly with this matter.

As it happens, she is the only person besides Caroline who has deeply participated.

The event itself is what Miss Caroline values the most.

If success comes swiftly, perhaps Miss Caroline would be so pleased that she might reward her greatly.

Despite her cold appearance, Bernice has a passionate side to her heart.

Everyone has selfish intentions, it’s just that some keep it hidden deep inside.

Currently, Bernice is the only one beside Caroline, and her encouragement somewhat uplifted Caroline’s emotions.

”Alright, let’s begin!” Caroline said.

Upon hearing this order, Bernice was visibly excited and hurriedly left to inform all parties.

Once the calls are made, it will mark the point of no return; even if she regrets it, it’s no longer possible.

Surprisingly, Caroline felt a sense of relief.

After so much preparation, things were finally set in motion; success or failure would depend on the outcomes.

However, Caroline soon appeared excited again, her eyes sparkling, ”Bai Xiaosheng, this time you’ll find it hard to overcome!”

Caroline planned to spend this morning in her study, not going anywhere, thinking about nothing, just calmly—reading.

In her view, her offensive against Bai Xiaosheng would only evoke reactions from the group’s high-level officials by noon and cause a stir by evening.

In the afternoon or evening, Zhenbei Group’s headquarters would convene a top-level meeting to discuss the new round of Bai Xiaosheng’s situation.

She didn’t need to be overly anxious, nor did she need to focus on the subtle changes every moment, just wait for the developments.

Moreover, Caroline had instructed Bernice to track the situation after contacting all parties, and provided there wasn’t any extreme change, she shouldn’t disturb her.

Which means, if Bernice doesn’t appear, everything should proceed smoothly.

Caroline flipped through her book for less than two hours before hearing the sound of hurried footsteps approaching.

Soon after, her office door was flung open, and Bernice burst in without any regard for propriety.

Caroline first frowned, then her eyes suddenly tightened.

”Miss Caroline, no, it’s bad, something’s happened!” Bernice exclaimed in panic.

Caroline ”slapped” the book onto the desk and stared into Bernice’s eyes, ”Don’t rush, take your time! What’s going on?!”

For someone as composed as Bernice to appear so flustered, there had to be a major problem.

But it hadn’t been long, only two hours!

Caroline was utterly puzzled.

Bernice was somewhat incoherent, stammering as she struggled to explain, but fortunately she eventually got the words out.

Once Caroline understood the situation, her complexion turned pale and green with chaotic eyes, ”How did this happen!”

Just now, when Bernice tried to contact the leaders of the companies secretly controlled by Caroline, she found she couldn’t reach a single one!

This situation practically made Bernice feel like she’d seen a ghost!

Earlier, she had already communicated with some key figures and everything seemed normal.

How could it suddenly become impossible to get in touch! Unbelievable!

Bernice initially thought to report to Caroline immediately, but she knew Caroline’s temperament well; in unexpected situations like this, if she couldn’t provide clear answers during her report, Caroline would surely be furious and might lose trust and not rely on her going forward.

Therefore, Bernice spent roughly two hours investigating through various channels to uncover what had happened with some of the companies—

Their leaders were being investigated by the group’s headquarters-monitoring department!

This investigation was initiated suddenly, extremely suddenly!

It’s likely that those remaining companies, which she couldn’t contact, share the same fate.

Only then did Bernice hurriedly come to report to Caroline.

Caroline was thrown into disarray.

This was a major problem!

Instead of launching a surprise attack against Bai Xiaosheng, a surprise strike was inflicted upon them!

”How could it be such a coincidence, at this exact moment?!” Caroline’s voice was low and hoarse.

If it were only some of the companies, that would be acceptable; but all the people she arranged were in trouble at the same time, at this critical juncture, it wasn’t a coincidence!

”Miss Caroline, what should we do...” Bernice asked worriedly.

”Get out.” Caroline said softly.

”What did you say...” Bernice was confused and didn’t hear clearly in the moment of panic.

”Get out!” Caroline glared at Bernice and shouted.

Bernice was so frightened that she trembled, didn’t dare to say a word, and rushed out of the study.

Caroline took out her phone and dialed a number.

She wanted to use her network to inquire and understand what exactly was happening.

After several calls, Caroline’s phone fell to the ground, and she collapsed into her seat, her eyes somewhat vacant.

Just now, she received news from the group’s headquarters-monitoring department issuing an internal notice to vice chair level, stating that there were confirmed cases of serious collusion within the group’s affiliated companies.

Caroline also learned that the companies involved were all hers, without exception.

In other words, her original plan to accuse Bai Xiaosheng had been preempted, and those companies and those people were captured all at once!

Now they might turn against her!

The precision is almost comparable to a precision-guided bomb!

Caroline’s face turned ashen, and after a long pause, she looked up, her eyes showing a hint of fierceness.

”How could it be so precise, there must have been a leak! There’s a mole!”

Very few people knew the inside story.

Apart from her, there were Maiyous, Bernice, and Robert.

Maiyous only knew about a third of the people; even if there was a problem on that side, it would be impossible to capture all of her people.

Robert was even less likely.

Initially, he strongly opposed such a big bet, fell out with Bernice, and didn’t even know the name of an involved company before leaving, and hasn’t returned yet.

Only she and Bernice knew about all the related companies.

”Could it be Bernice?!”

Caroline flatly refused to believe that the person she trusted most, her confidant, could be leaking secrets.

But now, she couldn’t help but believe it, or how else could the list have gotten out? Did she mutter it in her sleep?

With a somber expression, Caroline picked up the phone on her desk and made a call.

Soon, there were footsteps approaching, followed by knocks on the office door.

In response, Caroline saw a few strong men enter, and Bernice was restrained by two of them like a chick, shouting and struggling incessantly.

”Miss Caroline, what’s happening?” Bernice shouted in surprise.

Caroline ignored Bernice completely, and spoke to the leader among them, ”Bernice leaked secrets; you need to investigate now! Whether it was her or someone around her! I don’t care what methods you use, make sure to find out!”

Upon hearing this, the leading man nodded expressionlessly.

Bernice’s face turned pale, pleading loudly.

Those men were unmoved and dragged her away.

After the study door closed, Caroline’s face was extremely unsightly; compared to the insignificant Bernice, her troubles had only begun.

And it was most critical!

Because even though she gathered people who were tight-lipped, they couldn’t rival the monitoring division’s Wen Yan.

Caroline murmured darkly, ”That’s the real plague! This time, my troubles are massive!”
