This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

These past few days’ experiences made Director Zheng realize he had overestimated his abilities and was completely ignorant of the internet. Just a few days ago, he had let such a good opportunity slip by—a chance to ride the tailwind that could have let him soar. Now, having seen Du Heng’s impressive display again, he was excited, yet he couldn’t think of and didn’t dare to make any moves. He feared he’d waste such an opportunity again, completely squandering the momentum from the last one.

When it comes to professional matters, one needs to find professional people.

But do I personally know any professionals in this field?

Cupping his chubby face, Director Zheng pondered for a moment. Soon enough, he thought of someone—Feng Su. She was the starlet who had tricked him a couple of days ago, the one who’d gone back on her word and chased clout.

Such shameless tactics were something I could never pull off.

But not only did she do it, the results were also excellent.

He heard that just yesterday, she held some sort of sales live broadcast in her hospital room and raked it in.

That’s it! I need to learn from her.

Director Zheng haphazardly smoothed his slicked-back hair and headed towards Feng Su’s hospital room.

After walking a few steps, he turned back and entered the Hospital Office, calling over the earnest young man responsible for filming. ”What you shot yesterday was very good; you’re beginning to show the skills of a professional photographer.”

The young man chuckled.

But who knew Director Zheng would suddenly change his tune, ”But I still have some criticism for you.”

The young man’s smile froze.

”Since you filmed the child’s treatment scene yesterday, why didn’t you continue to capture the rest? Why didn’t you record the scenes of the Dean administering medicine and taking care of the child?”

At that moment, Director Zheng’s chubby face was quite serious as he said earnestly, ”After the treatment ended, you didn’t capture the child’s condition. Isn’t that tantamount to falsifying the record?

Without any comparison or reference, what use is the footage you shot?

I heard from Director Liu that the Dean stayed in the observation room all night last night, and the child had a very optimistic recovery. These precious materials, not being captured, are a huge loss.”

The young man’s smile fell, and he bluntly replied, ”After the treatment ended, the Dean told everyone to go about their own tasks.”

Director Zheng took a couple of deep breaths and pointed at the young man, saying, ”That was the Dean telling the Directors to get busy. What were you supposed to be busy with? Isn’t your current job filming the Dean?”

After speaking, recalling the young man’s nature, he decided not to argue any further and went straight to the point, ”From now on, you just stick with the Dean. You work when he works, and you get off when he gets off.”

”But the Dean said that there’s no need to film him in his office.”

Director Zheng was speechless, looking at the young man helplessly. After a while, he gestured towards another young man in the office, ”Xiao Kang, come here. I have a job for you.”

The young man called Xiao Kang lifted his head from his computer and quickly walked to Director Zheng’s side. ”Director, what did you need?”

”From now on, you will be the Dean’s assistant and will also be responsible for recording the Dean’s treatment process. Can you handle that?”

The young man surnamed Kang nodded vigorously, ”Rest assured, Director. But what about my current job?”

Director Zheng pointed to the side, ”Hand it all over to him.”

Director Zheng left. Xiao Kang sighed lightly, his posture straightening a bit.

The duties of the Hospital Office were simple: to handle the administrative affairs of the hospital.

However, their work could also be trivial and bothersome, as they were responsible for everything that didn’t involve patient consultations or check-ups, including internal and external communication, higher-level and lower-level coordination, and doctor-patient disputes, among many other things. All of it fell to this department.

And Xiao Kang handled almost all of these chores, for one reason only: he had no backers.

The slow-witted young man he shared an office with always received the simplest, most relaxed tasks. The fact that he was even assigned to film the Dean was solely because he was Qiu Pingzhen’s nephew.

Now, it’s finally my turn. I’m more capable than that slow-witted fellow; there’s no way I’m going to languish in the Hospital Office like a nobody for the rest of my life.

The handover? There wasn’t much to hand over.

These were all tasks he had handled before. Besides, everything was digitized now; all the information was clearly laid out in the system. All one needed to do was log in.

Twenty minutes later, Xiao Kang picked up the video camera, walking confidently towards Du Heng’s office.

After Du Heng finished writing a prescription, he went back to his office, tidied up, and after dealing with some urgent work, he prepared to have a good sleep on the sofa.

However, just as his back touched the sofa, a knock came at his office door.

Du Heng sighed reluctantly, getting up again and sitting straight. ”Come in.”

Xiao Kang pushed the door open with a smile on his face and greeted Du Heng, who was on the sofa, with a soft, ”Dean.”

”Hmm, what’s up?”

”Dean, I’m the assistant Director Zheng arranged for you. I’ll also be in charge of the filming from now on.”

Du Heng massaged his throbbing temples, the corner of his mouth twitching slightly. The Hospital Office finally remembered to assign me an assistant.

”What’s your name?”

”Kang Zhirong, 25 years old. I graduated from XX College, majoring in Digital Media Technology.”

Du Heng knew of XX College. It was located in Jinzhou, a third-tier institution affiliated with Jinzhou University.

That didn’t matter. But why assign a young man who studied digital media technology to... well, it figures. When it came to being an assistant, connections definitely came first.
