This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

Du Heng stood at the back, lost in thought, while the Parent in front was already shaking her head. ”No, we didn’t give our Child such a small toy. The smallest one we have is about the size of my fist.”

The female Doctor frowned. ”When I just looked, the foreign body was reflective, silver-white. Can you think of what it might be?”

The mother thought for a while but still couldn’t find any toy among her Child’s collection that matched the Doctor’s description.

The female Doctor sighed. ”It seems to be a metallic item. Let me try to remove it first.”

With that, the female Doctor began to take out her tools.

For children between two and five years old, swallowing foreign bodies is more common than illness.

Not only do they swallow things, but they also like to stuff them into their nostrils.

That’s why pediatricians always have a set of tools on hand to remove foreign bodies.

The female Doctor was no exception. She seemed to have dealt with many such cases before, and her movements were gentle yet very steady.

However, after several attempts, the female Doctor dejectedly put down her tools.

”This foreign body seems to be a metal ball, and the Child keeps moving. I can’t grip it at all,” she said, preparing to get up and grab her Mobile phone from the table. Just then, when she looked up, she saw Du Heng standing before her and instantly panicked.

She had never expected that the Dean would witness her incompetence.

”Dean,” she greeted.

”Hmm, you can’t get it out?”

The female Doctor quickly nodded. ”It’s too slippery, and the Child isn’t cooperating. Also, I feel this foreign body is quite large and heavy, so I don’t dare to forcibly restrain the Child.”

”So, what are you going to do now?”

”I’ll call the Director and ask.”

Du Heng nodded, glanced at the Child, then asked, ”May I examine the Child?”

”Dean, please do.”

The female Doctor didn’t hesitate, immediately making way for him.

The mother also realized that the person beside her was the Hospital’s Dean and looked at Du Heng with a hopeful expression.

Then Du Heng repeated the female Doctor’s actions and also attempted to remove the object himself.

The Child had been somewhat cooperative when the female Doctor inserted the forceps into the nostril, but when Du Heng tried, the Child wouldn’t cooperate at all. Moreover, due to the foreign body, they dared not forcefully restrain the Child.

However, after this struggle, Du Heng had formed his own assessment of the foreign body.

He immediately took out his phone and called the Section Chief of the Logistics Department. ”Please find a magnet... fist-sized will do... Outpatient Department of Pediatrics.”

Once he finished speaking, everyone’s eyes focused on Du Heng.

Du Heng explained, ”Judging by the foreign body’s luster, it should be made of iron or steel. Since the Child is afraid of having forceps inserted into the nostril, using a magnet externally to draw it out should work.”

Neither the female Doctor nor the Child’s mother objected to Du Heng’s explanation.

Considering the bright silver sheen and that it was inserted at home, it was unlikely to be any other metal, nor a lump of actual silver. After all, who would take a piece of silver, shape it into a ball, and play with it?

After a short wait, the Section Chief of the Logistics Department came in with a palm-sized, round magnet.

Du Heng took it and began his procedure. In just a few moments, a round ball, about the size of a thumb tip, fell out.

Du Heng showed it to the mother. ”It’s indeed made of iron. But why would your family have something like this?”

The mother was also baffled. ”I don’t know. I’ve never seen this thing before. Could my elder son have brought it home from School?”
