This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

”Don’t move.” The makeup artist immediately stopped Du Heng’s fidgeting. ”President Du, what we usually see and what the camera captures are completely different. Especially with this kind of fill light, if you don’t wear makeup, your face will appear very dark.”

”Then don’t use the fill light.”

”You might not need it, but our two lovely female reporters certainly do. They wouldn’t want to appear dull in front of the camera.”

Du Heng stopped talking and let the makeup artist work on his face.

Qiu Pingzhen, holding the proofread manuscript, hurried over to Du Heng. ”President, according to your requirements, some of the answers and questions have been revised. Please familiarize yourself with them now.”

”No need, I’ve already memorized them.”

”President, you should still review it. The Municipal and Provincial TV Stations are both live-streaming. Your answers will appear on the internet immediately, and we won’t have a chance to correct any mistakes.”

Du Heng sighed. ”Alright then.”

Qiu Pingzhen handed the manuscript to Du Heng, then whispered, ”President, the red envelopes are all ready. Each one contains 5,000 yuan. After the interview ends, Old Zheng from the Hospital Office will give them to the reporters.”

Du Heng’s interest in the manuscript vanished instantly. He had already given out 10,000 yuan yesterday, and now another 10,000 yuan today. Even though it wasn’t his money, if only this money could be used for employee benefits! Giving it to these reporters felt like such a waste.

He then hesitantly asked, ”Do we really have to give them?”

”My dear President, we shouldn’t be stingy with this money; we need to give it if it’s necessary. Besides, you insulted the reporter from the Provincial TV Station. If we don’t shell out some cash, they might ask difficult questions during the live broadcast, and we’ll be the ones to suffer.”

Seeing Du Heng’s pained expression, Qiu Pingzhen quickly tried to placate him. ”As long as the reporters ask appropriate questions, we’ll get the results we want. The number of patients will definitely increase in the future, so this 10,000 yuan will be earned back.”

”Sigh, don’t wait until it’s over. Give it to them now. Since we have to give it, let’s not be so stingy about it.”

”Alright, I’ll go talk to Old Zheng now.”

At ten-thirty, Du Heng sat face-to-face with the two reporters.

”President Du, thank you for accepting our interview. First, we want to ask a question that netizens are most concerned about. Yesterday, a news report suddenly appeared on the internet about Ms. Feng Su receiving treatment for cervical cancer in our hospital. I wonder if this news is true?”

”Regarding the sudden appearance on the internet...”

CLATTER.

Before Du Heng could finish speaking, his office door was suddenly pushed open. The abrupt sound made Du Heng swallow his words.

Du Heng tried hard to control his emotions, determined not to lose his composure in front of the camera. But when he turned to look at the door, his expression was still a bit rigid.

As he turned, he even glanced at Old Zheng from the Hospital Office out of the corner of his eye, wanting to ask how he had managed this.

But when he saw who came in, Du Heng’s mind went blank for a moment.

He saw Feng Su, wearing a hospital gown and light makeup, appearing at the office door.

After sweeping her gaze around the room, she walked directly towards Du Heng and naturally sat down beside him, even asking with a smile, ”I didn’t interrupt you, did I?”

Du Heng struggled to maintain his composure; the sweat in his palms made him involuntarily clench his fists. He glanced at the phone streaming the live broadcast—it was already so filled with bullet comments that the actual feed was completely obscured.

The two reporters were also stunned for a second, but their solid professional skills quickly kicked in. One asked, ”Are you Ms. Feng Su?”

”Yes, it’s me, the genuine article.” Feng Su carried herself with aplomb, even waving at the live-stream camera after she finished speaking.

Although the two reporters were not from the same TV station, and this situation didn’t align with their pre-arranged plans, they exchanged a look and silently reached an agreement. ”It seems the news on the internet is true. Ms. Feng is indeed receiving treatment from President Du?”

”Indeed. I’ve been receiving treatment for more than two weeks now.”

”So, Ms. Feng, you’re saying the news of your cervical cancer diagnosis is genuine?”

”Yes, my illness was diagnosed in the Capital over three months ago.”

A glint of excitement flashed across the faces of the two reporters. This situation promised to be far more interesting and explosive than a typical, by-the-book interview!

The Municipal TV Station reporter rushed to ask, ”Then, Ms. Feng, why did you choose...”

Before she could finish, the Provincial TV Station reporter suddenly cut in, ”Ms. Feng, I would like to ask a question on behalf of women everywhere. We all know that the peak age for cervical cancer is after 40, so why did it appear in your case?”

This question was a bit gossipy and seemed to align with malicious speculation online.

Feng Su had created a surprise, but she hadn’t expected a TV station reporter to surprise her in turn, instantly making her smiling facade a bit stiff.

Du Heng had also snapped back to reality by now. Although he didn’t know why Feng Su was doing this, he knew he had to help her steer the conversation back on track.

He promptly interjected, ”Cervical cancer is a major disease that threatens women’s health. It’s the most common malignant tumor treated in the Gynecology Department. Indeed, as the reporter stated, this disease historically had a high incidence in women over 40.

”But that was in the past.

”Nowadays, society is changing rapidly, and diseases are evolving too. Overwork and staying up late have become commonplace, constantly depleting people’s energy. Coupled with high-intensity work, many women find it difficult to adequately care for their bodies, leaving them vulnerable to illness.

”Therefore, we can no longer solely rely on past experience when diagnosing current diseases.

”We want to take this opportunity to urge all women to take care of themselves. No matter how busy you are, you must find time for regular medical check-ups. Health should always be your top priority.”

Du Heng spoke eloquently and at length, and when he paused, Feng Su seized the opportunity to add, ”That’s right. To all the women watching, no matter how busy or tired you are, or how much money you earn, health is priceless. Only by loving ourselves can we better love our families.”

The two played off each other perfectly, deflecting the somewhat awkward question.

Meanwhile, Du Heng shot the female reporter from the Provincial TV Station a stern look. If she dared to ask another leading question like that, he might just lose his temper.

The Municipal TV Station reporter, having no conflict with Du Heng, immediately followed up with her question, ”Ms. Feng, since your condition was diagnosed in the Capital, why did you travel all the way to Jinzhou, a relatively small place, to seek treatment from President Du?”

Feng Su smiled, then turned to look at Du Heng with gratitude. Her expression and actions seemed entirely genuine.

”When my illness was diagnosed, I was devastated. The doctor told me the tumor was in a very delicate location, and surgery would mean I’d lose the chance to become a mother. This news plunged me into despair.

”I consulted many experts, even went abroad, but the answer was always the same: surgery to remove the tumor would inevitably mean losing the ability to conceive.

”Just as I was losing hope, a friend recommended Doctor Du to me.”

As Feng Su spoke, every sentence was accompanied by an emotive expression, drawing listeners into her feelings.

Pausing here, Feng Su once again turned her grateful gaze towards Du Heng. ”At first, I didn’t trust Doctor Du. He was so young, and he practiced traditional Chinese medicine, which made me very uncertain.

”However, after learning about Doctor Du’s track record, I discovered he had successfully treated several cancer patients before me, some with conditions more serious than mine. One was even a patient with severe ovarian cancer.

”What surprised me even more was that this patient not only recovered under Doctor Du’s treatment but also retained her ability to become a mother.

”So, I chose to trust Doctor Du.”

A brilliant smile lit up Feng Su’s face as she proudly held her head high. ”After more than two weeks of treatment, my tumor has almost completely resolved, and I’ve also retained my ability to become a mother.

”I am so thankful for the choice I made.”

With that, Feng Su abruptly stood up and bowed deeply to Du Heng in sincere gratitude. ”Thank you, Doctor Du. You’ve given me a new lease on life and helped me see that the world is still a beautiful place.

”Thank you.”
