This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

Jin Juan’s expression was grim.

She admitted that what Lu Guangying had said was indeed the best solution.

”But... but why didn’t Du say anything just now?”

Upon hearing this question, a hint of anger flashed across Lu Guangying’s face.

Why didn’t Du Heng say anything? He wanted me to be the bad guy. If I didn’t play that role, then it would be the leadership’s joint responsibility, and I definitely wouldn’t get off easy.

Jin Juan saw Lu Guangying remain silent, and noticing his grim expression, she realized there were some things she didn’t know.

”Dean Lu, is there no way to salvage this?”

”There is, and there are many ways.”

A glimmer of hope suddenly surged within Jin Juan.

She was already forty-two this year, and she was the Director of the First Section. She was unwilling to resign. And if she really left, she didn’t know if she could still adapt to the competition in society, or if she even had any competitiveness left. Now, hearing there were solutions, she couldn’t help but widen her eyes.

”First, if you can settle things with the patient’s family, this matter will definitely be considered resolved. The worst President Du would do then is criticize you and dock your bonus.”

This was the simplest and most effective way.

But thinking of the patient’s family’s attitude, and how they’ve been for the past three consecutive days, Jin Juan’s mouth twitched.

”Second, go find President Du and have him mediate with the patient’s family on your behalf.”

Jin Juan shook her head again. If Du Heng were willing, he wouldn’t be forcing me to resign now.

If I went, I’m afraid not only would I be humiliated, but I’d still be fired.

”Then, the third option: do you have any connections in the Municipal Bureau?”

Jin Juan’s spirits sank further. If I had connections, how could I have ended up in this situation?

”Then, the fourth point. Besides being supervised by the Municipal Bureau and the Health Commission, our hospital is also under the administration of the local community. So, Director Wu’s connections might be useful to you.”

Jin Juan’s heart, which had sunk to rock bottom, suddenly leaped. She felt alive again.

After receiving this advice, Jin Juan rushed to the recuperation ward without delay; she had to seize every opportunity.

”How are you feeling?” As soon as she entered the hospital room, Jin Juan looked at the pregnant woman with a beaming smile.

Director Wu’s daughter-in-law responded enthusiastically, ”I’m fine, not feeling much of anything.”

Jin Juan then started to chat casually with the pregnant woman, all the while wondering how to bring up her request.

Unexpectedly, the pregnant woman suddenly whispered mysteriously, ”Director Jin, can you help me get Feng Su’s autograph?”

Jin Juan was taken aback. ”Who is Feng Su?”

”Oh, come on! She’s that actress who starred in XXX, the really beautiful one.”

Jin Juan shook her head. ”I’m afraid I can’t do that. I don’t know her, and she certainly doesn’t know me. Besides, she’s a big celebrity who travels all over the world. I wouldn’t be able to find her.”

The pregnant woman said urgently, ”It’s not that complicated! Feng Su is hospitalized here too. She’s in the hospital room next to ours. I saw her last night; she and her assistant were strolling in the corridor.”

This stunned Jin Juan. ”You didn’t misidentify her?”

”I’m positive I didn’t. I usually follow celebrities, so I’m very familiar with Feng Su’s looks. Plus, I heard the three of them mentioning other celebrities’ names, so now I’m absolutely certain.”

”Then why didn’t you ask at the time?”

”The moment I approached, they quickly went back into their hospital room. Later, one of your nurses came and told me I should pay attention to others’ privacy and not disturb them casually. Director Jin, I’ll have to trouble you with this. Please help me get an autograph.”

Jin Juan’s eyes lit up. Isn’t this an opportunity?

”Alright, since you’re sure you didn’t misidentify her, I’ll go and ask.”

Jin Juan immediately left the hospital room and headed towards Feng Su’s hospital room.

”Hello.” As soon as she entered the hospital room, Jin Juan greeted them very enthusiastically.

However, the three people in the hospital room all glared at her. The shorter assistant even stepped in front of Jin Juan. ”Who are you? Who let you in?”

”Hello, I am the Director of the Obstetrics Department of this hospital. My name is Jin Juan. I’ve come to see Miss Feng.”

”Why would the Director of your Obstetrics Department come here? Get out, quickly! We don’t have any Miss Feng you’re looking for here.”

The short assistant frowned, pushing and shoving Jin Juan out. Then, CLICK, the door was locked from the inside.

Jin Juan was stunned.

At her age, she was no longer star-struck. Whether it was Feng Su or some other celebrity, she had no particular impression of them.

Could Director Wu’s daughter-in-law really have been mistaken?

Recalling the appearance of the woman on the sickbed she had just seen, Jin Juan took out her phone and started searching.

She found Feng Su’s photo and compared it to the woman she had just seen. Although one was with makeup and the other was bare-faced, the similarity was as high as eighty percent.

It really is Feng Su! She’s really a star!

An autograph? No, just an autograph isn’t enough. I must get a signed photo, a photo together! That way, the pregnant woman will be more willing to help speak up for me. Otherwise, given my relationship with Director Wu, it’ll probably be very difficult to get him to agree.

Just as she was about to knock on the door again, a nurse from the ward hurried over. ”Director Jin, what are you doing?”

Jin Juan glanced sideways at the nurse. ”I want to go in. Is there a problem?”

”You cannot.” The nurse didn’t give Jin Juan any face. ”The Dean instructed that for all hospital rooms in this ward, only their respective attending physicians can enter. No one else is allowed.”

”Not even me?”

”Not even if the Secretary comes.”

”And what if I insist on going in?”

The nurse scoffed. ”Director Jin, I advise you not to do that. If I let you in, I’ll lose my job and face penalties. Do you think I’m going to let you in?”

As the nurse spoke, other nurses from the ward, along with the head nurse, had already gathered around.

Doctors and nurses essentially belonged to two different systems. Moreover, these nurses weren’t from her department, so Jin Juan really had no way to deal with them.

Jin Juan was so angry she turned around and walked away. However, when she reached the door of Director Wu’s daughter-in-law’s hospital room, she hesitated.

But there was no use hesitating any longer; she could only brace herself and go in.

”Director Jin, did you get it?” The pregnant woman sat up excitedly.

Jin Juan shook her head awkwardly. ”You must have misidentified her. I went in and asked. They said the person inside isn’t Feng Su, and her surname isn’t even Feng.”

Seeing the disbelief in the pregnant woman’s eyes, Jin Juan continued to lie, ”You don’t think I’m lying, do you? I just went to the nurse station to check. The registered name isn’t Feng Su either.”

The pregnant woman’s expression dimmed. ”Oh. Then I’ve troubled you, Director Jin.”

Jin Juan felt a bit awkward, but for her own sake, she still forced herself to say, ”Mr. Wu, is Director Wu free this evening? I’d like to treat him to dinner.”

Xiao Wu said ”Oh,” and seeing Jin Juan’s unnatural expression, he knew she must want something from his father.

He wasn’t some pampered rich kid; his father had trained him well long ago. A thought struck him, and he said, ”Ah, I’ll have to ask My Dad about that. I don’t know if My Dad has time. How about I help you ask him now?”

Jin Juan’s face lit up with joy, and she quickly said, ”Oh, that would be wonderful! Thank you so much, Mr. Wu.”

Xiao Wu dialed his father’s number right in front of Jin Juan. ”Dad, are you at your workplace today? Director Jin wants to have a meal with you.”

The other end of the line was silent for three seconds before a voice said, ”I’m at work right now. How about noon? I’ll treat Director Jin to lunch at noon.”

Hearing the agreement over the phone, Jin Juan was ecstatic. ”My treat, my treat!”

With a definite answer, Jin Juan began to count the minutes and seconds. As soon as it was twelve o’clock, quitting time, she eagerly rushed off to the appointment.

However, ten minutes later, Jin Juan emerged with a dark expression.

Director Wu, on whom she had pinned such high hopes, had dismissed her with a simple, ”I’m not familiar with your President Du.”

And before she had even walked back to the hospital, she received a call from Lu Guangying. He clearly informed her that she was no longer responsible for Director Wu’s daughter-in-law. Furthermore, from now on, she was not permitted to see patients in the outpatient service, nor was she allowed to take on any new patients.

Jin Juan was dumbfounded. Not only had she failed to accomplish her goal, but she had made things worse.

Standing at the hospital entrance, Jin Juan panted heavily, her eyes filled with humiliation and anger.

After a long moment, she didn’t return to the hospital. Instead, she turned and walked off in another direction.

You were heartless first, so don’t blame me for being ruthless!
