This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

Upon entering the consultation room, Du Heng not only saw the person he wanted to see but also heard this old gentleman’s complaints.

”Is this Doctor Du you keep talking about coming or not?”

”Now, don’t be anxious. Doctor Du is the Dean here; he surely has other matters to attend to. He can’t just appear the moment you ask for him,” Auntie said, her voice tinged with a slight apprehension.

”How can I not be anxious? If you had just focused on your own illness, none of this would have happened! What on earth possessed you to listen to his rotten idea?”

The old man’s voice was still brimming with impatience, and he started blaming Auntie. ”And you! We’ve been fine for over thirty years, nothing wrong at all.

”Then he takes one look at you, and suddenly your illness becomes my fault? What kind of damn logic is that?

”He even says I’m sick! I say he’s just spouting nonsense.

”If he doesn’t give me a clear explanation today, I’ll give him a couple of good slaps!”

Hearing this, Du Heng, who had just arrived at the consultation room door, paused for a moment.

With any other illness, even without seeing the patient, one could usually make a rough diagnosis just from hearing their complaints. However, this old man has been like this for over thirty years, and his voice is still so full of vigor. He genuinely can’t figure out the specifics for a moment, Du Heng thought.

Having arrived at the door, Du Heng coughed softly to announce his presence and then stepped into the consultation room.

”Doctor Du, sorry for the trouble. I’ve brought my husband,” Auntie said, looking a bit embarrassed, but she still greeted Du Heng proactively when she saw him.

This greeting also served as a reminder to the old man beside her, telling him that the main person had arrived.

Now inside the consultation room, Du Heng finally got a clear look at the visitor.

Initially, he had thought that since he was Auntie’s husband, he should be around sixty. If not decrepit, he should at least show some signs of old age.

However, seeing him in person, Du Heng was slightly taken aback.

The old man looked lean and full of vitality.

Just that first impression—even someone in their early fifties would have to concede defeat and feel inadequate in comparison.

The old man didn’t speak, just stared fixedly at Du Heng, watching him walk over and sit down in the consulting doctor’s chair.

Du Heng cleared his throat. ”Uncle, are you aware of Auntie’s condition?”

Seeing the old man’s tiger-like glare, Du Heng decided to try and break the ice by starting with Auntie’s situation.

The old man’s expression didn’t change; he merely nodded, which counted as an answer to Du Heng’s question.

Du Heng didn’t mind and turned to ask Auntie beside him, ”Auntie, have you followed my treatment instructions these past few days?”

Auntie hurriedly nodded. ”I’ve been following your instructions these past few days, and let me tell you, it’s really working. At the very least, when I get up each morning now, I don’t feel dizzy or lightheaded anymore. I feel much more relaxed.”

After Auntie finished speaking, Du Heng smiled and turned to the old man. ”Uncle, you heard Auntie’s situation. Would you say my treatment is correct or not?”

The old man, still with the same expression, said, ”Correct. But what does that have to do with me?”

Seeing the old man’s unreasonable demeanor, Du Heng gave a wry smile. ”Uncle, isn’t it obvious enough?”

”Obvious my foot! Your rotten idea has caused me no end of trouble, so what are you going to do about it? And you told this foolish woman I’m sick. For the past few days, this woman has been chattering endlessly in my ear.”

He glared at Du Heng. ”Come on, I’m right here in front of you. Tell me, what illness do I supposedly have?”

Du Heng, unaffected by the old man’s emotions, said softly, ”Uncle, how about I give you a check-up first, and then we can talk? What do you think?”

”Fine, I’ll do as you say. But if you still can’t give a proper explanation by then, I’ll make you pay.”

The old man had been extremely irritable from the start. Looking at his slightly flushed face, he had probably been holding a lot in.

If any other doctor were faced with the old man’s behavior just now, they would have immediately suspected hyperthyroidism. Never mind anything else, a battery of tests would already be waiting for him.

However, Du Heng had a different judgment. He had encountered patients with hyperthyroidism before. Although some symptoms were similar, there were clear differences as well.

After a round of examinations, Du Heng confirmed his thoughts: this was not hyperthyroidism at all. Moreover, he also realized that the old man could be said to be, in a way, not sick.

Auntie’s condition was insufficient yin fluid, leading to yin deficiency and fire prosperity. This Uncle, however, was the exact opposite; his yang qi was far more abundant than an average person’s.

To be more specific, his body’s secretion of male hormones far exceeded that of a normal person.

Traditional Chinese medicine diagnosis focuses on the balance of Yin and Yang.

Yin flourishing and Yang declining, or Yang flourishing and Yin declining—either imbalance will cause various problems in the human body. Only when Yin and Yang are balanced is it the most ideal state.

And this old man currently had excessive yang. He was using sexual intercourse to vent this yang qi, thereby achieving a balance of Yin and Yang in his body.

Of course, the old man wasn’t without problems; his kidney qi was slightly deficient and unstable. However, for it to be merely deficient and unstable after so many years is quite remarkable, Du Heng considered.

”Uncle, do you usually take any tonics?”

The old man kept his eyes fixed on Du Heng and said, word by word, ”I have a habit of drinking water infused with medlar and cuscuta seeds. Does that count as taking tonics?”

Nourishing essence and blood, strengthening the loins—how could that not count?

Alright, the issue of slightly deficient and unstable kidney qi can barely be explained. But this excessive secretion of male hormones, especially over so many years, can’t have been stimulated by medication. If it were due to medication stimulating excessive male hormone secretion, the old man wouldn’t be able to stand before him now, speaking with such vigor. But how could a normal person secrete so many male hormones? When things deviate from the norm, there’s usually something strange afoot. There’s definitely something wrong with this old man’s body. But right now, he can’t find the problem from the pulse.

Du Heng’s brow slowly furrowed as he began to ponder where this excessive yang qi came from. ”Uncle, during your previous physical examinations, did the doctors ever mention any abnormalities?”

”No, nothing at all.”

Du Heng took a deep breath and said to the old man, ”Uncle, let me give you a physical examination.”

”What kind of physical exam?” For the first time, the old man’s expression changed; he seemed rather resistant to this suggestion.

But his wife was still by his side. With a few words from Auntie, tinged with a slight ’threat,’ the old man was convinced.

After telling Xiao Li to guard the door of the consultation room to prevent anyone from suddenly barging in, Du Heng performed a simple physical examination on the old man.

When he finished, Du Heng’s expression turned very strange.

He had thought of something: there are only a few possibilities for male androgen secretion. If previous Hospital check-ups hadn’t found any issues, it means that some private areas might not have been examined back then. And now, the scene before him confirmed Du Heng’s guess.

The old man had three testes.

Three. And damn it, they were all normal.

Normally, a man has two. Perhaps, due to congenital development or later injuries, a man might end up with one, but having three is practically unheard of.

If there are three, they are usually malformed or formed as a result of a lesion.

But now, all three were normal. This really expanded Du Heng’s horizons.

The testes have three functions: sperm production, androgen secretion, and regulation of physiological functions.

And for an old man with three testes, the appearance of such a situation was understandable.

The world is vast and full of wonders, Du Heng mused. He took a moment to adjust and then returned to his normal composure.

Of course, he didn’t envy him. The old man’s condition was an innate talent, truly not something others could envy.

Once everyone was back in their seats, Du Heng couldn’t help but ask Auntie, ”Auntie, you didn’t know about this? Why didn’t you say anything when I asked you last time?”

Auntie’s face turned red again. ”How would I know? I’ve never paid attention to that sort of thing.”

Alright, Du Heng decided, I won’t ask such embarrassing questions anymore.

Turning to the old man, he explained his situation in detail. ”Uncle, from one perspective, you are indeed not sick. But from another angle and way of thinking, this also counts as a type of illness. If a situation arises where your yang qi cannot be released in time, it will cause great harm to your body.”

The old man retorted irritably, ”Hmph, if it weren’t for your rotten idea, would I be like this?”

Du Heng was exasperated. ”Uncle, you can’t just think about yourself; you also have to consider Auntie’s condition. Auntie doesn’t have your physical constitution. If you let things go on like this, Auntie’s illness will become uncontrollable.

”At that point, you’ll still have to treat this as an illness, and Auntie will also have to endure the suffering from her illness.

”At the end of the day, the loss outweighs the gain, and you’ll also harm Auntie.”

Thoroughly explained by Du Heng, the old man’s attitude began to waver.

Moreover, he himself knew that he and his wife were no longer young, and their physical conditions were, it could be said, declining day by day. To still want to compare with when they were young was truly wishful thinking.

”Then what do you suggest we do? You can’t just let me die, can you?”

”Of course not. Uncle, you just need to vent the yang.”

The old man was very unhappy. ”Didn’t you just tell me to...” His eyes flickered. ”You mean let me find... That won’t do. They’re cracking down hard these days, it’s not convenient. Besides, it’s not easy to find anymore.”

What on earth is this old man thinking? Du Heng wondered, feeling like he was going crazy.

”Uncle, what I mean is, I’ll prescribe some medicine for you. We’ll use medication to achieve the effect we need.”

”Oh, oh, oh, so that’s what you mean.”

Seeing Auntie’s expression looking a bit off, Du Heng didn’t dare say more. He quickly lowered his head to look for a pen and paper to write a prescription.

Because the old man simply had excessive yang, and his yin was not deficient at all, this was fundamentally different from others with excess of yang and deficiency of yin.

For excess of yang and deficiency of yin, the focus is on the yin deficiency. The treatment method is mainly to nourish yin and replenish the kidney, to achieve Yin and Yang balance.

But the old man’s situation couldn’t involve nourishing yin, because there was no deficiency to nourish. The only option was to drain the yang.

Traditional Chinese medicine has Eight Methods: Sweating, Vomiting, Purging, Harmonizing, Warming, Clearing, Reducing, and Tonifying.

Du Heng had used all these methods before, and quite skillfully too.

But using the Purging method to drain yang qi—this was something he had never done, never even thought of.

Most people are desperate to tonify their yang qi; who would ever think of draining it? Wouldn’t that be fatal?

But today, right now, Du Heng had to use the Purging method to drain the old man’s yang qi.

Never mind himself, even 99.9% of doctors might not encounter such a situation once in their entire careers.

But then again, this experience is something the system can never teach me, Du Heng reflected. For me, it’s also an opportunity for improvement and learning.

When the old man left with his payment receipt, Du Heng was still thinking this.

If he weren’t afraid the old man would misunderstand, he would want to call him ’Teacher.’ Such a case record is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!

The other two in the consultation room were so astonished they could barely contain it. However, with the subject of their surprise still present, they managed to restrain themselves. But the moment the old man left, they couldn’t hold it in any longer.

”Dean...”

Before they could finish, the security guard from the Outpatient Hall rushed to the door of the consultation room and said urgently, ”Dean, a lot of reporters and people live-streaming with their mobile phones have suddenly shown up! They say they want to interview you and Feng Su.”

”What?” Du Heng, who was still mulling over the previous disease record, felt his heart give an uncharacteristic extra thump or two.

Du Heng knew that Feng Su’s situation had been leaked.

If it wasn’t someone from the Hospital, then there might be an explanation. But if a Hospital employee leaked it, then things would be troublesome.
