This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

Seeing Wang Shuqiu’s mother regain consciousness, Du Heng felt relieved, and his smile grew broader.

Meanwhile, in the hospital, Jin Juan also wore a cheerful smile, warmly receiving the daughter-in-law of Director Wu from the community.

”I’ve arranged for your hospital room to be on the top floor. Let me take you and your family up to have a look.”

Jin Juan’s smile was amiable, and she personally led the pregnant woman with a large belly and her family to the pre-arranged hospital room.

Along the way, she kept joking around with everyone, seeming very familiar.

After they arrived, the woman in childbirth and her family were very satisfied with the hospital room arrangement, and they quickly completed the necessary hospital admission procedures.

”Thank you, Director Jin, for all your trouble,” said the husband of the woman in childbirth with heartfelt gratitude, and he also extended an invitation. ”Director Jin, thank you so much for today. I’ve reserved a table at a restaurant across the street from our hospital in your honor. I’d like to treat you to dinner.”

Jin Juan laughed happily but still modestly declined, ”These are just trivial matters and part of my job. There’s no need for that.”

”Director Jin, you’ve done me a huge favor,” the husband said sincerely. ”You don’t know, but as my wife’s due date approaches, her temper is getting more and more peculiar. I thought I’d have another quarrel with her today, but I didn’t expect her to be so happy with the hospital room arrangements. I really have to thank you, Director Jin.”

Looking pleased, the husband seemed genuinely thrilled that his wife hadn’t lost her temper. ”You have to do me the honor of letting me host you tonight so I can thank you properly, Director Jin.

”Moreover, I’ll need your help later on. I need to show my gratitude, or else I won’t be able to sleep at night.”

All the frustration and dissatisfaction that Jin Juan had accumulated over the past few days vanished, and she felt relaxed and happy. ”Well, that’s very kind of you.”

”You’re too modest, Director Jin. My father is present too, and he also wants to chat with you.”

Jin Juan laughed again, quite satisfied. ”I’ll change my clothes. It’s been a while since I’ve had dinner with your father.”

Returning to her office, Jin Juan took off her white gown, picked up her bag, and was about to head out for the dinner appointment.

”Director, a patient has been transferred from the Gynecology Department. It’s reported as a threatened abortion. We’re undecided on this. Would you want to take a look?” Out of nowhere, a young doctor appeared at the door, blocking Jin Juan’s exit.

Jin Juan was unhappy, but considering the patient had already been brought to her door, she couldn’t pretend she hadn’t heard.

Following the doctor to her office, Jin Juan saw a woman clutching her lower abdomen.

”What’s the problem?” Jin Juan casually threw her bag aside and sat down across from the woman.

The woman looked up at Jin Juan with a pained expression. ”I’ve been having constant pain in my lower abdomen these past few days, and today it’s unbearable. Plus, there’s bleeding.”

”Are you sure you’re pregnant? Have you had a check-up?”

”I tested with a pregnancy test stick—two lines—but I haven’t gone to the hospital for a check-up.”

Jin Juan acknowledged with an ”Oh.” ”How long ago did you test?”

”About twenty days ago.” The woman’s expression was extremely pained, and she pleaded, ”Doctor, my belly is hurting badly now. Can you think of a solution first?”

”I need to examine you thoroughly before I can prescribe medicine,” Jin Juan said calmly and unhurriedly.

At that moment, there was a knock on the office door, and Director Wu’s son and daughter-in-law appeared.

”Director Jin, may we leave?” However, noticing a patient in Jin Juan’s office, they hastily added, ”I’m sorry, Director Jin. Please attend to your patient first.”

Jin Juan nodded and then turned her attention back to the woman. ”It’s rare for a woman to experience a threatened abortion just twenty days into her pregnancy. Your pain is also unusual.”

Jin Juan carefully observed the woman again and, after a moment of thought, asked, ”Have you had your period this month?”

”It’s seven days past due. I haven’t had it.” The woman bent over, clutching her belly, looking even more pained.

Jin Juan’s eyes lit up. After glancing at the woman in childbirth waiting at the door, she asked, ”Did you have abdominal pain during your previous periods?”

”Yes, but the pain is different this time. The pain during previous periods felt like a heavy, dragging sensation, but these past two days, it feels like twisting.”

”Alright. This isn’t a threatened abortion; it’s just period pain. Regarding the pregnancy test, it likely showed a false positive. I’ll prescribe some painkillers and motherwort for you. When you get home, drink plenty of hot water and use a warmer pad.”

After hearing the woman’s description, Jin Juan reached a conclusion.

However, the woman was still uneasy. ”Doctor, the pain feels different.”

”That’s normal. This month’s period is seven days late, which means the menstrual blood has clotted, so the pain is bound to be different,” Jin Juan said, getting a bit impatient. ”How about this? If you’re still worried, I’ll order some tests for you, and you’ll know once they’re done.”

She sighed and muttered under her breath, ”I was trying to save you some money. I didn’t expect you not to trust me.”

She then called the nearby doctor over. ”Order a B-ultrasound for her.”

After speaking to the doctor, Jin Juan looked back at the woman. ”I’ll order a B-ultrasound for you. This will show whether or not you’re pregnant, and your situation will be clear. Also, you’re in so much pain. Why didn’t any of your family members accompany you here?”

”My husband is on his way. He should arrive soon.”

”Alright, have your husband go with you for the check-up later. If everything is fine, come back down, and our doctor will prescribe the medications I mentioned earlier.”
