This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

Incomprehension, deep incomprehension.

Listening to her words, observing her expressions, and noticing her demeanor, Du Heng could not find a trace of pretense in Feng Su’s appearance at this moment; he could only sense sincerity.

Why? Before last night, wasn’t she practically fighting to the death for her reputation? Li Qin came from a thousand miles away, and didn’t she accept Li Qin’s arrangement and send the photos? How come, in just one night, she’s no longer afraid of her condition being exposed? And she can even calmly accept a live broadcast? It’s just so strange.

If they weren’t live broadcasting right now, Du Heng would even have the urge to pull Feng Su aside for a proper chat. But at this moment, all he could do was cooperate with Feng Su’s performance and accept her gratitude under the filming of the two live-broadcasting Mobile phones.

However, lacking Feng Su’s acting skills, Du Heng’s facial expressions, movements, and even his tone were a bit unnatural. But it was obvious that Feng Su was taking the initiative, completely leading Du Heng. Even his awkwardness was masked.

The reporter from the Provincial TV Station probably realized she had been too anxious and petty just now. After Feng Su finished expressing her gratitude, she immediately followed up with a question, ”Ms. Feng, you seem so optimistic about your condition now. Is there any basis for this?”

Feng Su immediately sat up straight and said, ”Yes, of course, there is.”

With that, she beckoned, and her short assistant at the door came in carrying a large bag.

Feng Su confidently took out several films from it, selected one, and said, ”This was taken at XX Hospital when I was in the Capital. Some of you watching may not understand, so let me point it out...”

Feng Su instantly transformed into a medical science popularization expert, explaining everything in meticulous detail. After she finished, she took out another film. ”This one was taken here the day before yesterday. Everyone can clearly see...”

Feng Su proactively took on the role of presenter, and the two reporters were more than happy to interview a celebrity like her. In their view, interviewing a star would always generate more discussion and buzz than interviewing an ordinary person.

Du Heng figured this out as well. Unwilling to be a mere background prop, he slowly stood up and gracefully exited the Live broadcast room.

Once out of the camera’s view, Du Heng pulled Zheng from the Hospital Office aside. ”What’s going on here?”

Zheng from the Hospital Office was also bewildered, confusion evident in his eyes. ”I don’t know either. I thought you arranged it, Dean.”

Du Heng’s eyelids twitched. ”If I had arranged it, wouldn’t I have told you? If I had arranged it, would I have had you give money to the reporters? If I’d known Feng Su would speak about this so openly, why would we have gone to so much trouble? Am I sick in the head, or are you lot just bored out of your minds?”

Zheng didn’t dare utter a word after Du Heng’s outburst.

Truth be told, he did bear some responsibility. The interview script had a few questions involving Feng Su, and he was supposed to communicate with her to see if the proposed answers were acceptable. But who could have predicted she’d pull a stunt like this?

Du Heng felt that Feng Su had played him and his team for fools, and a surge of nameless anger welled up inside him. However, after venting, he realized his anger was somewhat misplaced.

Wasn’t the purpose of today’s interview to resolve the Feng Su information leak? Now that Feng Su herself had explained it, wasn’t his problem solved? It just meant that Qiu Pingzhen’s idea of using this opportunity to gain fame would likely have to be scaled back. But that didn’t really matter. What Du Heng needed wasn’t explosive, overnight fame, but a gradual rise to prominence by slowly cultivating a fan base. Perhaps having Feng Su, the person directly involved, explain things would be more effective, more convincing, and more authentic than him singing his own praises.

Qiu Pingzhen suddenly approached Du Heng. ”Dean, Jin Juan is next door. She’s panicking now and wants to see you.”

”See me for what?” Du Heng had practically forgotten Jin Juan even existed.

Qiu Pingzhen gestured towards the ongoing interview and whispered, ”Now that Feng Su has suddenly revealed everything herself, our prepared interview script is completely useless. That means Jin Juan is no longer needed either. So, she’s very scared right now and wants to talk to you.”

Du Heng shook his head and said coldly, ”There’s nothing to talk about. She is to hand over all illegal gains and pay an equivalent sum as a fine to the finance department. Additionally, she must write a self-criticism report for internal review only.”

Qiu Pingzhen’s eyes flickered. ”Will Jin Juan agree? Can she afford it?”

Du Heng sneered. Whatever losses he incurred because of Feng Su, he would recoup from Jin Juan.

”Tell her it’s her choice whether to pay or not. If she pays, we’ll withdraw our application to the Health Commission, and she can do whatever she wants afterward. If she doesn’t, she can face the consequences.”

Qiu Pingzhen had already inquired quite clearly about Jin Juan’s illegal income. This whole process—handing over the gains and then paying an equal fine—would cost her dearly, enough to make her feel the pinch for quite some time.

”If Jin Juan pays the money, what do we tell Feng Su?”

”Tell her? Tell her what! She’s the one who should be explaining things to me!” Saying this, Du Heng couldn’t help but frown.

Qiu Pingzhen paused, surprised that Du Heng was still simmering with anger.

As he turned to leave, he looked back once more. ”Dean, Jin Juan has already resigned. Is it still appropriate for her to pay money to the hospital?”
