This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

As he reached the door, Du Heng suddenly stopped and said to Li Shuxun, ”Oh, I’m a bit busy today. If I forget, you continue the treatment. After the bleeding stops, use Rock of Taishan Fetus-Quieting Powder with placenta hominis, isinglass, and Tortoise Deer Glue Powder in capsules. This is for the normal development of the fetus and to treat the root cause. Remember, don’t forget.”

”I’ve written it down; I won’t forget.”

Since it was noted, Du Heng didn’t linger and went straight to the hospitalization department behind. As for the situation in the Outpatient Hall earlier, if Lu Guangying and the others couldn’t handle it, they should start preparing for retirement.

Feng Su was very annoyed. Getting sick wasn’t a big deal; everyone gets sick, right? Cancer wasn’t a big deal either; it wasn’t necessarily a fatal disease. But an article on the internet had shifted people’s focus. Instead of concentrating on whether she had cancer or what type it was, they were excessively focused on why she had contracted the disease. Subtle hints, combined with her already poor reputation, threatened to completely ruin her fame. Even if she still had good friends, or could find good investors and directors in the future, returning to the forefront would not be easy.

”Doctor Du, your hospital must take full responsibility for this!” Feng Su couldn’t help but lash out the moment Du Heng entered.

Du Heng initially felt somewhat in the wrong and awkward, intending to discuss with her how to handle the issue and minimize its impact. But the moment he entered, he was squarely blamed. Considering he was, in a sense, her benefactor, this made Du Heng a little resentful.

”Ms. Feng, the matter is still under investigation. It’s a bit too early to say we should take full responsibility.”

”With things like this, isn’t it your responsibility?”

”People are constantly coming and going in the hospital. It’s possible you weren’t careful and someone recognized you.”

”Then how do you explain the medical record situation? If not one of your staff, who else could have photographed my disease record on the computer?”

Looking at Feng Su’s fuming expression, Du Heng suppressed his emotions. ”Ms. Feng, I came to discuss how to resolve this, not to argue with you. Our current goal is to minimize the damage this incident causes you.”

Hearing Du Heng’s words, Feng Su’s anger seemed to deflate, and her whole demeanor wilted.

Using the limited entertainment industry knowledge he’d gleaned online, Du Heng asked, ”Ms. Feng, shouldn’t your company have a team specifically for handling public relations issues like this? Haven’t they offered any advice?”

At this question, Feng Su’s expression soured further, as did those of the two assistants beside her.

Du Heng was puzzled. ”What’s wrong? Did I say something incorrect?”

Feng Su sighed. ”You’re right, but our company doesn’t have such a team.”

”Then your company is too small and unprofessional,” Du Heng said, a little speechless at this answer.

Feng Su looked up at Du Heng, her eyes filled with a sorrowful expression. ”I started the company myself.”

”You started it yourself?” Du Heng was even more confused. ”What kind of company is it? Does it also produce movies and TV dramas?”

”No, it’s... I can’t explain it. Let’s not talk about it,” Feng Su snapped, then asked irritably, ”President Du, what measures do you have in place now?”

Du Heng shook his head. ”Our hospital has already spoken with the TV station that was here to interview. They won’t come to disturb your rest. Those internet celebrities have also been dealt with, so they won’t affect you either.”

”Don’t you have any other methods?”

”We should issue a clarification about your condition, stating it’s not as the online rumors claim.” Du Heng looked steadily at Feng Su. ”Do you have any methods?”

Feng Su shook her head. ”I’m not very famous. Let’s just try to keep a low profile. Perhaps in a day or two, no one will care about my affairs anymore.”

Du Heng was dumbfounded again. Feng Su’s reaction was not what he’d imagined for a celebrity.

”Doctor Du, the internet situation can be left as is, but your hospital must give me an explanation.”

What explanation? He himself wanted one.

Du Heng returned to his office empty-handed. He skipped lunch, his mind consumed with how to handle this matter, but he couldn’t devise a good solution. The core issue was his lack of experience in this area; he simply didn’t know what to do.

By the afternoon, Lu Guangying and the Secretary were the first to return.

”Dean, we’ve spoken with the media. Tomorrow, either you or someone we designate will come forward to clarify this matter in person. It’s all a misunderstanding, a malicious prank fabricated by netizens.”

Du Heng’s eyes lit up. This approach wasn’t bad. After all, the photo online didn’t clearly show Feng Su’s features. If they adamantly denied it, the matter might just blow over. The tension that had gripped him all midday finally eased a little. ”What happened with the internet celebrities?”

”They were all taken away by the police station. However, since no other serious incidents occurred, the police station only reprimanded and educated them before releasing them.”

Lu Guangying was dissatisfied with this outcome, and Du Heng felt the same. But that was the reality; there wasn’t much that could be done against such shameless individuals.

At that moment, Du Heng suddenly regretted not letting that couple go to the hospital room. He should have been shameless for a moment, allowed the pregnant woman to cause a scene, and taught those internet celebrities a lesson. But on second thought, he decided against it. It wasn’t worth a Pyrrhic victory, causing great harm to the enemy at a significant cost to oneself.

However, Du Heng also wondered about one thing: how could a small place like Jinzhou City have over a dozen such bizarre internet influencers? It was one thing for them to be shameless, but the fact that they all looked so grotesque was something he couldn’t comprehend. Do you have to look abstract to become an internet celebrity?

As Du Heng was pondering this, Lu Guangying continued, ”However, fearing those internet influencers might continue to cause trouble, the police station specifically assigned two officers to be on duty at our hospital this afternoon.”

”That’s good.” Du Heng let out a breath. ”Let’s carefully consider what to say at tomorrow’s interview. Remember, our logic must be sound. We can’t make a statement and then immediately contradict ourselves; that would be too humiliating.”

Du Heng had such concerns, but Lu Guangying wasn’t surprised. She said directly, ”I’ve discussed this with the two reporters. They said they’ll help us prepare the interview script, including the questions and answers, so we don’t need to worry. However...” Lu Guangying hesitated for a moment.

Du Heng looked at her curiously. ”Is there something troubling you?”

”Well, I gave the two reporters 10,000 yuan. Dean, do you think this can be reimbursed?” Lu Guangying asked, a sense of grievance in her voice.

She hadn’t handled the chaos in the hall well, and to make matters worse, Du Heng had witnessed it. Furthermore, Du Heng was very strict with the hospital’s finances, which forced her to begrudgingly ask him about the 10,000 yuan. If it weren’t for the earlier incident, she wouldn’t have dared ask to reimburse even one yuan.

Hearing this, Du Heng immediately said, ”It’s fine. Just follow the normal reimbursement process.”

Lu Guangying sighed in relief. Then she and the Secretary left to continue liaising with the reporters. There was something they didn’t mention: after Du Heng had berated the reporter from the Provincial TV Station, the reporter seemed to be holding a grudge. So, they had to go and smooth things over for Du Heng.

Just as Lu Guangying and the Secretary left, the head of the Hospital Office arrived. ”Dean, we found the person who leaked the information.”

Du Heng’s spirits lifted. ”Who? Was it Jin Juan?”

The head of the Hospital Office was startled by Du Heng’s words. ”Dean, how did you know?”

”Just tell me, was it her?”

”Yes, it was her.” The head of the Hospital Office also looked furious. ”I saw the photo. The computer address bar showed the medical insurance settlement system, and the entire page was the medical insurance settlement page, not a doctor’s diagnostic page. Plus, the date was displayed in the bottom right corner. So, it didn’t take long for the Medical Insurance Department to figure everything out. By the way, Dean, how did you know?”

Du Heng was irritated. How did he know? He’d thought of Jin Juan when he saw her yesterday. Suspicions had formed, leading to a wild guess. Given her convenient access and a motive to secretly harm the hospital, he couldn’t think of anyone else but Jin Juan for now.

”Let’s not talk about that for now. Since you knew this morning, why are you only telling me now?”

”We went to find Doctor Jin as soon as we found out, but her family said Doctor Jin went out of town this morning.”

Du Heng frowned. ”What did she go out of town for? When will she be back?”

”They said she went for a job interview out of town and don’t know when she’ll be back.”

Du Heng was so angry he wanted to smash the table. If only he hadn’t been so arrogant yesterday and had directly dismissed her from the Medical Insurance Department, perhaps today’s mess could have been avoided. But it was too late for regrets now.

”Alright, I understand. Go find Deputy Dean Lu and prepare to receive the reporters.”

The head of the Hospital Office turned to leave and passed Qiu Pingzhen, who was just arriving.

”Director Qiu, what brings you here?”

”Dean, there are many livestreamers wandering around the hospital. They aren’t going into the hospital building, but they’re in the courtyard, questioning any nurses or doctors they see.”

Du Heng looked disgusted. These people were as relentless as flies. ”Tell our staff to ignore them.”

”Don’t worry, Dean. I instructed them this morning and reminded them again just now. Everyone should know not to answer questions recklessly.”

”That’s good. Anything else?” Du Heng was annoyed and just wanted to be alone for a while.

”Dean, are you worried about this incident?” Qiu Pingzhen suddenly asked, stating the obvious.

Du Heng gave Qiu Pingzhen a speechless, exasperated look, silently urging him to get to the point.

”Dean, do you remember what we discussed yesterday?”

”Yes, what about it?”

”Our opportunity has arrived.”
