This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

Du Heng was greatly surprised by Qiu Pingzhen’s statement, ”Our chance has come.”

He had never imagined that while everyone was figuring out how to resolve the situation, this middle-aged man could actually see an opportunity that was very advantageous to him. Especially after listening to his understanding of the matter, Du Heng once again thought that this man might have really entered the wrong profession. He shouldn’t be wasting time in such a workplace but should be out in society, striving to exert his abilities. It was just as netizens said online: ”All the most elite talents in society are within the system.”

Having finished discussing everything, Du Heng heaved a sigh of relief, realizing that this matter might not necessarily be a bad thing. In particular, Feng Su’s reaction made him feel that stars also had their own hierarchy and were not as difficult to deal with as he had imagined.

”Director Qiu, let’s proceed as you suggested. You communicate with Deputy Dean Lu and discuss the content of tomorrow’s interview. We should aim to get it right in one go, no dilly-dallying.”

”Alright, Dean, I’ll go find Deputy Dean Lu right now.”

Having finished speaking, Qiu Pingzhen was about to leave, but Du Heng called out to him, ”Wait.” Then, Qiu Pingzhen saw Du Heng frown, his expression turning slightly cold.

With a hint of doubt, Qiu Pingzhen asked, ”Is there anything else, Dean?”

”You should know who leaked the patient’s information, right?”

”Yes, it should have been leaked by Doctor Jin.”

Du Heng asked Qiu Pingzhen seriously, ”Then how do you suggest we handle this matter?”

Seeing Du Heng’s serious expression, Qiu Pingzhen hesitated for a moment and asked, ”Is the Dean asking about how to handle Doctor Jin?”

”Yes, her.” Du Heng’s tone was very serious.

Qiu Pingzhen hesitated again. ”Doctor Jin has already resigned. Our hospital no longer has any management authority over her, and I heard she has already gone to another city. So...”

Du Heng snorted coldly. ”So, we just let it go? Wouldn’t she be delighted? If we don’t respond to her behavior, won’t other employees be tempted to imitate her? Will they think they can just recklessly leak patient information whenever they’re unhappy and want to leave? How much damage would this cause to patients and the hospital?”

”The main problem is that Jin Juan has already resigned, and my Medical Affairs Office no longer has management authority over her, so...” Qiu Pingzhen also felt a little troubled.

For the active medical staff, the Medical Affairs Office was like the Sword of Damocles, a powerful deterrent. But towards outsiders, they were completely powerless.

Seeing Qiu Pingzhen hesitate, Du Heng didn’t make things difficult for him and said directly, ”Just now while we were talking, something suddenly occurred to me. Since Jin Juan is the instigator, if she appears in the interview tomorrow to clarify things herself, wouldn’t the effect be even better?”

Qiu Pingzhen’s eyes suddenly brightened. ”I’ve been so focused on us handling this ourselves that I completely overlooked Doctor Jin! If she personally explains in tomorrow’s interview that the photo and information aren’t of the same person, and that she fabricated it herself, that would be far more credible than us saying it.”

But Qiu Pingzhen’s eyebrows furrowed again. ”However, Dean, the problem remains: Doctor Jin has already resigned and gone to another city. Will she agree to our request? Can she come back?”

”She must come back,” Du Heng said coldly.

He looked at Qiu Pingzhen again. ”Please take care of this. Tell Jin Juan that the hospital has thoroughly investigated this matter. Both the hospital and Feng Su will call the police. Furthermore, the hospital will also report it truthfully to the Health Commission.”

”What are you suggesting, Dean?”

”Tell her that the hospital has secured evidence and is preparing to initiate legal proceedings. Whether she receives forgiveness and a lighter sentence depends on her own choice.”

Du Heng tapped his fingers lightly on the table. ”According to professional ethics, her actions warrant submitting materials to the Health Commission to apply for the revocation of her practice qualification. So, whether she wants to be proactive or not is her decision.”

Qiu Pingzhen sighed silently. This was exactly why he hadn’t wanted to offer advice; this was tantamount to making a mortal enemy of someone.

Jin Juan was already in her early forties. If she lost her practice qualification, she would completely lose her means of surviving in society and the opportunity to earn a living. Other high-paying, well-benefited jobs were not accessible to her at this age. As for setting up a street stall or doing hard labor, she likely lacked the ability, not to mention she probably couldn’t bring herself to do it. In this society, the ones most afraid of unemployment weren’t the top workers at the apex of the pyramid, nor the laborers at the very bottom, but rather the middle class like Jin Juan, who were neither high nor low.

This was particularly true for Jin Juan. Having come from a public institution, she was already at a disadvantage competitively. If she faced a lawsuit, even if she didn’t lose her practice qualification, no hospital would likely dare hire her after what she’d done. And if she lost the practice qualification she relied on for her livelihood, she would even lose the ability to open a clinic. Her future predicament was easy to imagine.

”Explain the situation to her clearly. If she can help handle this matter well, I will help appeal to Feng Su on her behalf for leniency and minimize the punishment as much as possible. If she doesn’t listen to advice, then don’t blame me for being unsparing.”

Du Heng’s tone remained cold. He knew Qiu Pingzhen would explain the situation clearly, and he also knew Jin Juan would definitely understand its seriousness. No matter that she had resigned and gone to another city, as long as her practice qualification was registered with the Jinzhou Health and Construction Committee, they could drag her back even if she tried to hide at the ends of the earth.

Solving problems was like untangling a tangled ball of yarn. When you couldn’t find the end of the thread, it seemed extraordinarily troublesome. But once you found a breakthrough, other solutions would emerge on their own.

Qiu Pingzhen didn’t say much in response to Du Heng’s arrangements. He turned to leave and contact Jin Juan, while Du Heng himself pondered how to seize this opportunity.

「When it was almost time to get off work in the afternoon, Du Heng was called over by Feng Su again.」

When Du Heng arrived at Feng Su’s hospital room, he was surprised to find Li Qin there.

”What are you doing here?” Du Heng asked with surprise.

Li Qin looked tired. ”I saw the news this morning and rushed over, but there are too few flights to Jinzhou, so I was delayed until now.”

Du Heng said, ”Oh.” He now had a new understanding of the relationship between Feng Su and Li Qin. ”So, what’s your purpose in coming here?” he asked.

Li Qin sat on the side of the bed, holding Feng Su’s hand. ”My original plan was to find a hotel outside, take a photo with Susu, and post it, saying that we were filming elsewhere and the photo on the internet was fake—just someone who looks like Susu.”

Du Heng hesitated for a moment. ”Will that work?”

”Whether it works or not, this is all we can do. However, the picture isn’t clear, so it should be possible.” Li Qin was not only physically exhausted but also mentally drained.

It had been a whole day since the incident, and Feng Su had been keeping quiet, which made Li Qin feel uneasy. But this was Feng Su’s own choice. She didn’t want to sign with a company, didn’t have strong backing or a capable team—who could she blame? Free from constraints, with no one exploiting her, drifting between various men, it all seemed glamorous. But once trouble struck, this was the result. If this matter wasn’t handled properly today, it would be very difficult for Feng Su to return to her previous status.

Li Qin sighed silently and continued, ”Susu said you were dealing with it on your end, so I wanted to ask and make sure nothing goes wrong.”

Du Heng then explained how the hospital was handling the situation. ”The overall idea is simply this: the person in the photo is not Feng Su, just a woman who strongly resembles her. As for the disease record, it belongs to someone else with the same name.”

Li Qin frowned slightly. ”Will this work?”

”Whether it works or not, this is the only way. Only by doing this can Ms. Feng be extricated from this incident.”

After a brief pause, Du Heng continued, ”Besides, we have found the person who took the photo. She will come forward and explain the situation using the same explanation I just mentioned.”

Li Qin thought for a moment and then nodded. ”Alright, that doesn’t conflict with our plans. We’ll just say that we were shooting a film out of town and only saw the news when we just got back.”

With the plan settled, Feng Su’s two assistants took out their makeup tools and began to do her makeup and style her hair. Fortunately, Feng Su’s hospital room was uniquely decorated. As long as the head of the bed wasn’t in the shot, no one would be able to tell it was a hospital room.

After they took photos and posted an update on social media, Li Qin left immediately.

”Did you come all this way just to take a picture?”

”Yeah, I still have work to do. Plus, I snuck out, so I have to go back right away.”

”You two have a great relationship.”

”Sigh, when I first started my career, Susu helped me out immensely. I owe her a huge favor.” Li Qin rubbed her tense brow. ”Can I ask a favor of you?”

”Go ahead,” Du Heng smiled slightly.

”Can you give me a ride to the airport?”

”Are you going now?”

”Yes, my flight is in two hours. I have no choice.”

”I was going to invite you to dinner.”

”Next time.”

「After sending Li Qin off, it was already dark by the time Du Heng got home.」

Wu Shengnan was waiting for Du Heng to return, constantly refreshing her mobile phone, her facial expression changing from smiles to anger and back.

”Honey, you’re home! Come look, you’re famous now!” As soon as Du Heng entered the door, Wu Shengnan couldn’t wait to exclaim.

”How did I become famous?” Du Heng asked nonchalantly.

Wu Shengnan quickly ran to Du Heng’s side, not caring whether he had changed his shoes yet, and thrust her phone at him. ”Look! The whole internet is discussing you! They say your traditional Chinese medicine treatment for cancer is fake—just sensationalism and deliberate hype!”

Du Heng was stunned, then took the phone and began to browse slowly. As he looked, however, Du Heng was dumbfounded. The most discussed topic online was whether he, a nobody, could actually cure cancer with traditional Chinese medicine. The debate had already snowballed into whether traditional Chinese medicine could cure diseases at all.

As for Feng Su, the original protagonist of the story, she had disappeared from all the hot topics; no one even mentioned her.

Du Heng was a bit stunned.

He couldn’t understand how the internet’s attention could shift so quickly.

Or was it that Feng Su’s status was too low?

Or perhaps Feng Su only had a bit of fame and no real fans?

But even if Feng Su were an obscure 18th-tier actress, she shouldn’t have been overshadowed by his name, right?
