This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

Actually, Xiao Su’s thinking was a bit superficial here.

Li Jianwei himself, however, knew very well that he was willing to arrange Wu Buwei’s job transfer not only for Du Heng’s sake but also because Wu Buwei had demonstrated the ability to provide one-third of the data for Du Heng’s paper. From the quick glance he’d just taken at Du Heng’s paper, he understood clearly that it was undoubtedly going to be accepted into the core journals of traditional Chinese medicine. And for Wu Buwei to be able to provide a third of the data for such a paper meant that he himself possessed considerable ability in this area.

Moreover, he wasn’t entirely unfamiliar with Wu Buwei. Especially since their collaboration on the ’stroke complications’ project with the Health Clinic, his understanding of him had deepened.

So, he was willing to help, valuing Wu Buwei’s inherent talent as much as his respect for Du Heng.

However, Du Heng just smiled and said, ”There’s no need to ask further. After May 1st, he’s being transferred to the Municipal Second Hospital, with his official position transferred as well.”

Li Jianwei felt a slight twinge of regret. ”You arranged that? Why didn’t you bring him to the Municipal Maternal and Child Health Hospital? Your hospital is in desperate need of such outstanding young doctors.”

”I wanted to wait until things stabilized on my end before arranging his transfer. But the young man acted too quickly, and his father is quite influential; he was transferred directly to the Municipal Second Hospital. So, I didn’t pursue it further.”

”What a pity,” Li Jianwei sighed again. ”What does his father do?”

”Director Wu of the Breast Surgery Department at the Municipal Second Hospital.”

”Ah, no wonder. Director Wu Caijie’s expertise in breast-related conditions is renowned throughout Jinzhou. Arranging a job transfer isn’t an issue for him.”

This exchange left Xiao Su, who was listening nearby, feeling even more dejected.

Li Jianwei didn’t dwell on Wu Buwei any longer. He closed the file on his computer and returned the USB drive to Du Heng. ”So, tell me, what brings you here today?”

Du Heng became serious as well and recounted his conversation with Qiu Pingzhen from the afternoon.

”Teacher, I just want to ask if the Municipal Maternal and Child Health Hospital can be integrated into the Online Hospital system. If it can, it would be a tremendous help to our hospital.”

Li Jianwei listened silently, then after a long pause, said, ”You’ve made significant contributions to the establishment of the Online Hospital. With you at the Municipal Maternal and Child Health Hospital, joining shouldn’t be an issue.

But what happens after you join?

Every single department in your hospital is completely outclassed by the Provincial Women and Children’s Hospital. Without any standout specialties, even if you join, you’ll merely be onlookers. I think it will be very difficult to enhance your hospital’s reputation that way.

Surely, the entire hospital can’t just rely on you alone to prop it up?”

Li Jianwei grew much more serious and said slowly, ”Your Municipal Maternal and Child Health Hospital is too small in scale to achieve comprehensive development. The best approach is to leverage specific strengths, identifying your hospital’s advantageous projects within the entire province.

In the Gynecology Department, the Provincial Women and Children’s Hospital is unbeatable. In the Obstetrics Department, no other hospital is weaker than yours. In the Pediatrics Department, you can’t compare to the Provincial Women and Children’s Hospital or the Children’s Specialist Hospital of the Second Affiliated Hospital. As for the other departments, they’re not even worth mentioning. Frankly, I don’t understand why you’ve established so many.

Your only somewhat competitive areas are your specialized Pediatric Care Department and Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. But these two departments, to put it bluntly, are quite similar to Post-partum Care Centers.

However, I imagine you’d be unwilling to transform your hospital into a convalescent facility like a Post-partum Care Center. Besides, you might not even be able to compete with the commercial Post-partum Care Centers already on the market.”

Du Heng nodded in agreement with Li Jianwei’s words; he had considered these problems himself.

”Regarding these aspects, I’ve outlined two potential directions. One is plastic surgery and aesthetics. Other hospitals tend to view it as high-risk and low-tech. However, our hospital already has this department, so I’d like to give it a shot.

The second is treating sterility and infertility.”

Li Jianwei frowned slightly. ”It’s not that other hospitals look down on plastic surgery and aesthetics, but rather that the field is fraught with complexities and a high risk of medical accidents. Moreover, hospitals can’t advertise. Compared to other plastic surgery institutions, your public awareness will be much lower.

So, I wouldn’t advise you to delve too deeply into this area. It wouldn’t be beneficial for you or the hospital.”

He paused for a moment, then after some thought, continued, ”As for sterility and infertility, I do think that has potential. While many hospitals have such a department, none are particularly preeminent.

Furthermore, the conventional Western medicine treatments aren’t always well-suited for many women experiencing infertility. If you can achieve a breakthrough in this field, I believe it would significantly elevate your hospital’s standing.

Moreover, if you successfully treat infertility and a patient becomes pregnant, they would, out of trust established, likely choose your hospital for their prenatal care and delivery. This, in turn, would stimulate growth in your Gynecology Department, Obstetrics Department, and Pediatrics Department.

If nothing unexpected happens, this process could take quite a long time.”

Unexpected windfalls? Opportunities? Everyone wishes for them. But in this world, such things are rare. Most progress is built on time and reputation.

”Since you’ve had this idea, is it still just in the conceptual stage, or have you begun to implement it?”

Du Heng shook his head. ”It hasn’t been implemented yet; it’s still just an idea.” As he spoke, his brow suddenly furrowed. ”Actually, Teacher, I have a question for you.”

”Yes, go ahead.”

”I’ve established a Chinese Medicine Department at the Municipal First Hospital, and the patients are mostly elderly men and women. After about two weeks of interactions, I’ve found that the three highs and diabetes have practically become inevitable diseases for the elderly.”
