This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

”I meant asking if the woman had any fertility issues, or if she’d ever had an abortion.”

”I remember now. The man was short, and the woman was quite pretty.”

Du Heng smirked. ”You certainly remember that clearly. They complained about you, saying you weren’t serious in your service, had a poor attitude, and didn’t answer their questions. They also claimed you took the woman’s money.”

The doctor from the Premarital Examination Department’s face immediately darkened. He hurriedly said, ”Dean, this is a malicious accusation! Our premarital examinations primarily focus on collecting medical histories for genetic and hereditary diseases, screening for infectious diseases, and conducting reproductive and fertility-related tests.

Whether a patient has had an abortion or given birth isn’t within our examination scope. Even if we found out, we couldn’t disclose it.

As for taking the woman’s money, that’s even more out of the question.”

”Are you sure you didn’t take any money? You need to understand, if the hospital investigates and finds out, versus you confessing voluntarily—those are two completely different concepts.”

”Dean, I truly didn’t. The hospital can investigate however it wants.”

Du Heng put down the paper in his hand. ”Alright, we will investigate this thoroughly. If we discover you accepted a red envelope, don’t blame me for being unceremonious.”

Du Heng had specifically raised this matter in the meeting today to make an example of it, intending to make certain individuals exercise a bit more restraint.

”Is Director Zhang from the Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery Department present?”

”Present.”

”How many patients does your department currently have?”

”Uh... none.”

”Why is that?”

Although Director Zhang held the title of Director, he only had one doctor under him and three nurses. Among the frontline departments, theirs was practically like a beggar’s.

”Well... our hospital’s technical skills are poor, and our services are weak. Even after minimally invasive procedures, the scars left are more significant than those from specialized plastic surgery institutions. We lack competitiveness.”

Director Zhang’s old face reddened slightly, but he ultimately decided to tell the truth. He was currently most afraid that Du Heng would say he was going to disband this department.

Du Heng nodded in understanding. ”I’ll give you the contact for a pharmaceutical factory in Jinzhou. They’ve produced an ointment that has excellent scar-reducing effects when used in the early stages of surgery. This medicine should be able to compensate for some of the technical gaps.

By the way, the Obstetrics Department can also look into this ointment. Women who undergo cesarean sections should find it very appealing.”

Director Zhang hesitated. He was very hopeful that his department could develop, but Du Heng’s blatant recommendation made his heart pound.

”Dean, how effective is this medicine?”

”I forgot to mention, I authorized this pharmaceutical factory to produce this medicine. Before production, I had already conducted extensive trials at the Orthopedics Department of the Provincial Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital and the Plastic Orthopedics Department of the First Branch Hospital of the Capital University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The effects are excellent.”

Shameless. He’s actually promoting his own product.

However, those two places he mentioned do sound quite formidable.

”The pharmaceutical factory has the materials. When you contact them, review it carefully. If you think it’s usable, notify the Drug Procurement and Supply Department and have them get a small amount to try. If you feel it’s not useful, then let this matter drop.”

”Alright, I understand.”

Du Heng made a point of stating this openly at such a large meeting to prevent anyone from later accusing him of backdoor dealings or secretly reporting him.

After the meeting, the decisions Du Heng announced caused a great stir throughout the hospital. Everyone was seizing any spare moment to discuss these few matters.

However, the Gynecology Department and Internal Medicine Department remained quiet. Even Gao Qin, who usually slipped away as soon as meetings ended, uncharacteristically didn’t leave today. Instead, she sat in her office, diligently handling her work.

”What a miserable fate! Other departments can manage, but how can our Obstetrics Department possibly go into villages to pull women in childbirth for check-ups? This Du is just completely messing around!”

Gao Qin couldn’t figure out what the Director of the Obstetrics Department meant, nor did she understand what the director was trying to achieve by coming to her. However, she really didn’t want to provoke Du Heng.

”Director Jin, if your department has difficulties, you should go directly to the Dean. If that doesn’t work, find Deputy Dean Lu. Isn’t she your senior martial sister? With her helping you speak up, the Dean should be able to understand your department’s challenges.”

”Sigh, I’ve spoken to them. It’s no use.”

Gao Qin gathered her things and glanced at the clock on the wall, just waiting for the workday to end so she could go to her clinic. She didn’t dare to openly go out during work hours now, but after work, every bit of money she could earn counted.

Hearing Jin Juan’s words, Gao Qin chuckled softly. ”Then there’s nothing to be done. Just endure it. But you can’t blame the Dean for this; you brought this on yourselves.”

”Oh, come on, Director Gao, how can you say that? Isn’t everyone just trying to make money?”

”It is about making money, but shouldn’t we do our primary jobs well first?” Gao Qin felt no sympathy for them. ”Those few people from your Obstetrics Department that you assigned to my team—we were out for a week, and they only joined us for one day.

They spent the rest of the time moonlighting at the Post-partum Care Center, working hard to earn extra cash. You people really didn’t take him seriously at all.”

”Alright, Old Gao, you were also penalized for a week. Aren’t you angry?”

”Of course, I’m angry. But I can’t do anything about him, so I accept it.”

Jin Juan suddenly smiled. ”Don’t go to your clinic tonight. Let’s go out for a meal together, to lighten the mood.”

Gao Qin hesitated for a moment. ”Who all is going?”

”No one in particular. Just the two Deputy Directors from our Obstetrics Department, and a few people from the Pediatric Care Department and the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.”

”Your entire department is going? Aren’t you leaving a Deputy Director on duty?”

”Hmph, our department only has three women giving birth in total, and none are even near their due date. The others have nothing serious and are just waiting for their discharge time.”
