This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

However, Liu Amei’s condition was so severe at the time, yet she didn’t experience uterine bleeding. It’s highly unlikely Feng Su would.

A few minutes later, Feng Su came out of the bathroom. She looked much paler, and her strength seemed completely drained.

The tall female assistant supported Feng Su, a hint of disgust and a trace of fear in her expression.

Seeing Du Heng, she began an incoherent narration.

Although her words were illogical, Du Heng still understood.

Feng Su had indeed started to discharge pus and toxins. Besides the mixture of black and blood-red, her excretions also contained a lot of greenish filth.

This wasn’t surprising to Du Heng. Most excretions from a necrotic and adherent uterine cavity were this color.

However, looking at the tall and short assistants and then thinking back to Li Qin’s assistant, Du Heng sincerely felt that being a celebrity assistant wasn’t a job fit for humans, especially for these rather particular celebrities.

Feng Su lay back down, and Du Heng gave her a check-up.

”Everything is going according to plan. The rest will proceed step by step.”

Du Heng reassured Feng Su and the two assistants. Then, leaving the hospital room with the female doctor, he said, ”I’ll entrust her to your care tonight. Just look after her well and ensure no accidents occur. After the first two days, things will get easier.”

”I understand.”

As Du Heng was about to turn and leave, he suddenly stopped. ”Let’s do this: connect Feng Su to a monitor. It will make things easier for you.”

”Yes.”

Noticing it was getting late, Du Heng prepared to leave.

Halfway there, he suddenly turned back and went to Qiu Pingzhen’s office.

”Qiu, what was everyone’s reaction after the announcement this afternoon?”

”The other medical staff were quite calm. However, Jin Juan came to see me with the two deputy directors of the Gynecology Department, and then Deputy Dean Lu called them away.”

Du Heng’s eyes flickered. ”You mean the two deputy directors of the Obstetrics Department also came to your office?”

”Yes, they came together.”

”Alright, I understand. Make sure you get the schedule for the May 1st outreach clinic finalized quickly.”

Qiu Pingzhen glanced cautiously at Du Heng. ”Dean, are we really not taking a break on May 1st?”

”Of course. I have to keep my word. Otherwise, who would listen to me in the future?”

Du Heng chuckled softly, then abruptly added, It seems the punishment was a bit too lenient.

As Du Heng was driving away, he noticed the gatekeeper’s post had new personnel, and they were very attentive. When they saw Du Heng’s car about to exit, they quickly opened the retractable door and stood up straight.

Du Heng smiled, said nothing, and drove off.

***

Liao Quansheng radiated joy from the inside out, practically glowing with smugness.

After they sat down, he cheerfully prepared kung fu tea for Du Heng. ”Brother, why did you bring your missus? Aren’t you afraid she’ll get ideas?”

”She wanted to come. Besides, what ideas could she have?”

”Go on, pretend. I invited you today to discuss the ceremony for acknowledging the godson, the day after tomorrow. This child is your ex-brother-in-law’s son. Wouldn’t your current girlfriend have some thoughts?”

Du Heng laughed freely. ”You think everyone is as petty as you? I’ve already told her about this, and she supports me. She even said that if Yu Zhu doesn’t mind, she’s willing to be a godmother too.”

Liao Quansheng clicked his tongue twice. ”You, my friend, have certainly hit some incredible luck, landing a great girl like her.” As he spoke, he placed the elaborately prepared tea before Du Heng.

Du Heng paused for a moment, then a slight smile touched his lips. I really did hit a lucky streak.

He picked up the small teacup, looked at the pale green tea within, sniffed it, then downed it in one gulp.

After finishing, he closed his eyes, savoring the aftertaste.

Liao Quansheng watched him with a smile, waiting for words of praise.

However, Du Heng smacked his lips a couple of times, opened his eyes, and said, ”After all that effort you went through—brewing, rinsing—the taste hasn’t changed much.” He pushed the small teacup back. ”Seeing how much trouble you went to, I thought it would be magical, with some lingering aftertaste. You might as well just roast a couple of dates for me, add a piece of rock sugar, and make some jar tea.”

Liao Quansheng looked crestfallen but retorted with a disdainful look, ”You country bumpkin, you know nothing! This is called the tea ceremony. That’s how big bosses in the South drink.”

Du Heng looked scornfully at Liao Quansheng’s posturing. ”But don’t forget, you’re a dyed-in-the-wool Northwesterner who’s been drinking white spirit for over a decade.”

Rolling his eyes, Du Heng continued, ”Southerners drinking tea—it’s something they’re immersed in from childhood; it’s ingrained in their very bones. Look at you! Only one word describes it: pretentious. Disgusting. When they do it, every move is leisurely. But you, with your water pouring and tea washing, look like you’re about to challenge someone to a drinking game. It doesn’t look right at all, does it?”

Du Heng’s words irked Liao Quansheng. He abruptly stopped, no longer pouring tea for Du Heng. He then got up, walked to the side, and returned holding his own large teacup.

SLURP.

HAH~~PTUI.

He took a hearty gulp, then spat out some tea leaves. ”You’re right. Drinking from this big mug is much more satisfying!”

Sitting back down beside Du Heng, his expression turned more serious. ”Let’s talk business. Are you sure you want to acknowledge my nephew as your godson?”

”Didn’t we agree on this ages ago? Why ask again?”

”Just confirming, so I can prepare for the day after tomorrow.”

”What do you need to prepare?”

Du Heng was quite curious about this.

He’d never seen how others formalized such a relationship. He just figured he’d give the child a gift like a bracelet or a peace pendant, and that would settle it. He hadn’t expected Liao Quansheng’s family to take it so seriously, even preparing a ceremony.

”Never you mind about that.” Liao Quansheng casually brushed the topic aside. ”There’s something else I want your opinion on.”

”Go on.”

”Our family’s preference is for the child to take the surname Liao, and be called Liao Fan. But Yu Zhu disagrees. She wants him to have the surname Wang and be called Wang Fangyu.” As Liao Quansheng said this, his brow furrowed slightly, looking quite troubled.

Du Heng paused.

Liao Fan? Wang Fangyu? Du Heng thought. Both sound a bit strange, as if something’s not quite right.

After a moment, he said, ”Liao Fan... it’s an ordinary name, but pleasant. An ordinary life is also good.”

Liao Quansheng immediately brightened. ”You think it’s a good name too, right? I had an expert divine this name; the child will definitely have great prospects!”

Du Heng glanced at the smug Liao Quansheng but ignored his boasting. ”Then why does Yu Zhu want to name him Wang Fangyu? Isn’t the child’s father surnamed Zhao?”

”Sigh.” Liao Quansheng let out a breath. ”Yu Zhu says that Xiao Fang probably wouldn’t want the surname Zhao, and he grew up with his uncle-in-law. Now, with their family in this state, she thinks the child should take the surname Wang, as a way to continue the Wang family line.”

At the mention of Zhao Xinfang, both fell silent.

Such a good kid... how did it come to this...

What a tragedy!

Liao Quansheng suddenly fumbled for his cigarette pack and lit one. ”I heard that woman left too?”

Du Heng nodded. ”Yes. Yu Zhu gave birth at noon, and that woman left in the afternoon.”

Liao Quansheng took a couple of harsh drags on his cigarette. ”Let’s not talk about them. What are your thoughts on the child’s name? Or rather, whose side are you on?”

”I don’t support either. Any name is fine.”

”Can’t you be less perfunctory? You’re the child’s godfather, and also his paternal aunt’s...” Liao Quansheng stopped abruptly.

Du Heng smiled, unfazed. ”Even as his godfather, I can’t. I can’t overstep. You are the child’s elders; you should make the decision.”

”Sigh. I was hoping you’d support me. Turns out you’re just trying to smooth things over.” Liao Quansheng put on a look of utter despair, saying pitifully, ”Looks like the child will be called Wang Fangyu after all.”

Du Heng spun around. ”What the—! Are you the only one in your family spouting this nonsense? Everyone else supports Yu Zhu?”

”Yeah. Otherwise, why would I ask you, a godfather who’s barely connected to the situation?” Liao Quansheng rolled his eyes, leaned back on the sofa, and said, ”Wishful thinking.”
