This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

Du Heng leaned back slightly and continued, ”The first step of treatment is supporting right qi and removing tumors, expelling pus and detoxifying. Once you start taking the medication, your body will come under assault from the drugs, with the tumor as the primary target.

At this stage, you will feel extremely uncomfortable. Symptoms such as blood and pus discharge, vomiting, and dizziness may occur.

I need to constantly monitor your physical condition to determine if you can proceed to the next stage of treatment and to adjust the type and dosage of medication in a timely manner.

If a dangerous situation arises that cannot be promptly controlled, your life could be at risk.”

Listening to Du Heng’s words, Feng Su’s eyebrows furrowed slightly.

She didn’t even want to give up her ability to conceive, let alone risk her life.

After thinking for a moment, Feng Su made another suggestion, ”Doctor Du, you know my identity is rather special. If news of my treatment at your hospital leaks out, it will inevitably impact my future life and work.

What if I find a hotel near your hospital, and you, Doctor Du, visit me once a day? Is it possible to receive treatment outside the hospital?”

Du Heng’s expression soured slightly as soon as Feng Su finished speaking.

Asking me to treat her, and now she wants to treat me like an errand boy?

Feng Su, having flourished in her profession, was exceptionally perceptive. The moment Du Heng’s expression changed, she immediately said, ”I will provide ten thousand yuan as a consultation fee for each visit. The treatment and medication fees will be calculated separately.”

Du Heng suddenly chuckled. ”Ms. Feng, this is the situation here. If you are willing to accept my treatment, please go downstairs to register and arrange for hospitalization. If you haven’t made up your mind yet, please go home and think it over carefully.

My apologies, but I must be excused. I still have a meeting to attend.”

He then stood up and gestured for them to leave.

Feng Su was a little bewildered. By her reckoning, a ten thousand yuan consultation fee per visit was not insignificant. Du Heng had just said this treatment would last for three weeks. Twenty-one days of treatment at ten thousand yuan a day would amount to 210,000 yuan.

For the dean of a small hospital, this was likely an entire year’s income.

”Please discuss it amongst yourselves downstairs. I have other matters to attend to and cannot accompany you further.”

Without further ado, Du Heng ushered the three of them out of his office, then turned and headed to the consultation room.

As for the ongoing meeting in the conference room, he’d let his colleagues continue, confident the outcome would satisfy both him and them.

Feng Su was ushered out of the office by Du Heng, completely bewildered, and then, still in a stupor, made her way to their car downstairs.

Assistant Gao hesitated for a moment before asking softly, ”Ms. Su, should we go back to the hotel now?”

”Go back? What for?” Feng Su snapped, her mood foul.

The short assistant chimed in, ”Ms. Su, look at this shabby place. How good can the doctors here be? There are so many famous doctors nationwide; surely some are highly skilled.”

Before he could finish speaking, the tall assistant interjected, ”Where else can we go? We’ve already been to M-country, and they all offered no guarantees...” Glancing at Feng Su, she quickly trailed off.

”So Western medicine didn’t work. But Du Heng isn’t the only traditional Chinese medicine doctor out there. Let’s find other well-known ones,” the short assistant argued, still unconvinced.

”Haven’t we already? We went to see Professor Lan Changhua, the top expert in tumor treatment. He himself admitted that treating tumors is uncertain, let alone anything else.”

”It wasn’t just Miss Li who recommended Du Heng; Professor Lan Changhua recommended him too! Du Heng is the best doctor for treating tumors right now, and he already has successful disease records. Who else are you hoping to find?”

Seeing the short assistant was about to argue further, the tall assistant cut in, ”And don’t forget, every expert who has seen Ms. Su said that the longer we delay, the more detrimental it will be to her recovery.”

Feng Su said nothing, hesitating.

The tall assistant was right. If she still wanted to preserve her ability to conceive, her options were indeed limited. She could choose Du Heng, who already had a successful disease record. Or she could seek out other famous doctors, though their treatment outcomes were uncertain. Even if a doctor more skilled than Du Heng existed, one who could meet her specific requirements, she simply lacked the time to find them. Every day wasted meant her condition would worsen. She had already lost more than half a month; she had no more time to squander. Yet, the environment and conditions of this hospital made her deeply uncomfortable, utterly dissatisfied. And Du Heng’s unyielding attitude left her no room to be picky.

After sitting in the rented car for three minutes, Feng Su abruptly clenched her jaw, her eyes hardening with resolve. ”Let’s go. We’re finding Doctor Du.”

With that, she decisively pulled open the car door and stepped out.

Du Heng felt a little awkward. He’d just said he was off to a meeting, yet not even five minutes had passed before Feng Su reappeared in front of him.

Feng Su, for her part, showed only a flicker of surprise at finding Du Heng in the consultation room before quickly regaining her composure. ”Doctor Du, can we talk?”

”Of course.”

This time, Du Heng didn’t lead them to his office again. Instead, he found a quiet spot in the corridor where they wouldn’t be disturbed.

”Ms. Feng, you can speak now.”

”Doctor Du, are you certain you can meet my requirements?”

”I’ve completed the check-up. I can tell you with certainty now: if you can follow my instructions to the letter, then I can also fulfill your requirements.”
