This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

Du Heng braced himself and calmly stated the third matter, ”The Hospital is preparing to establish a Chinese Medicine Department, and I will temporarily be the Department Director.”

Adding a new department should have been the most concerning issue for everyone. However, now it had become the least concerning issue.

They all knew that Du Heng was a practitioner of TCM with a high level of expertise, and establishing a Chinese Medicine Department was just a matter of time.

Initially, everyone should have been fighting for their own interests in this matter, but now, with all the commotion, Du Heng himself would have sole authority over the new department.

”That’s it for today’s meeting. All department directors, submit your arrangements and plans to the Medical Affairs Office as soon as possible. When arranging personnel, do not affect the normal operation of the Hospital. All personnel must rotate.

If there are disagreements, solve them among yourselves. If you can’t resolve them, have those individuals come to my office to see me.

Meeting adjourned!”

Although it was called a meeting, it was more like an announcement. Du Heng essentially performed a one-man show. Everyone was furious but dared not say a word; given their own misconduct, they simply lacked the nerve to resist Du Heng.

They hadn’t expected that Du Heng had been cooped up in his office for a week, not because he was slacking off, but because he was digging up dirt on everyone and had managed to win Qiu Pingzhen over to his side.

So ruthless, and so insidious.

Du Heng didn’t feel particularly happy when he returned to his office.

Rectifying the work environment wouldn’t lead to the Hospital’s rapid development. The outreach efforts in the countryside were a long-term solution, unable to address immediate needs.

To achieve rapid development for the Hospital, an opportunity is still needed. But where is this opportunity? I haven’t found it yet.

After pondering for a long time in his office without success, Du Heng called Qiu Pingzhen over. ”Director Qiu, please expedite the preparations for establishing the Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine with Logistics. It would be best if we can officially begin operations next week.”

”Alright, Dean. Logistics is already preparing the offices and equipment. I will also complete personnel adjustments and Hospital room allocations as soon as possible. But what if some practitioners of TCM are unwilling to switch departments?”

Du Heng thought for a moment. ”Don’t force them; it must be voluntary.”

”Then I know how to handle it.”

”I appreciate your hard work, Director Qiu.” Du Heng said gratefully. ”Director Qiu, do you have any good ideas for generating some buzz for the new department? I’m afraid it will be embarrassing if there are no patients.”

Qiu Pingzhen looked at Du Heng in surprise, not expecting him to be worried about the potential embarrassment of having no patients.

”Dean, I think the best way is to offer free consultations. We can print some promotional materials and distribute them widely in the nearby residential areas. By waiving Check-up Fees and consultation fees, your outstanding medical skills should make the Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine an instant hit.”

Du Heng frowned. ”Is that okay?”

”Of course, under the banner of a free consultation event.”

”Then I’ll trouble you to manage this as well, Director Qiu.”

Qiu Pingzhen patted his chest. ”You can count on me.”

「In the afternoon」

While Du Heng was still bored in his office, Qiu Pingzhen brought two people in. One began to work on Du Heng’s face, and after they finished, the other pulled Du Heng over and, CLICK, CLICK, began taking photos.

This was all for what they euphemistically called ’publicity purposes.’ And the promotional effect? It was quite good.

Du Heng sat in the newly established consultation room of the Chinese Medicine Department, with a male and a female doctor standing behind him. These two were the only other doctors in Du Heng’s newly established Chinese Medicine Department.

At this moment, looking at the promotional material in his hand, Du Heng’s face turned slightly red, and he felt a bit flushed.

Qiu Pingzhen had hyped him up extravagantly, so much so that he himself could hardly bear to look at it.

However, seeing the long queue of patients already forming outside the consultation room, Du Heng reluctantly accepted the flattery on the promotional material.

”Auntie, what seems to be the trouble?”

After composing himself, Du Heng put down the promotional material in his hand and turned to his first patient of the day.

”I’ve been feeling terrible these days. When I’m at home, I get palpitations and just want to go out for a walk. But as soon as I take the elevator, I get dizzy and nauseous.”

The woman had just sat down on the stool when she immediately began telling Du Heng about her various discomforts.

Du Heng listened while checking her pulse. When the woman finally finished speaking, he quickly asked, ”Have you had a check-up? Do you have hypertension?”

”Yes, but I’ve always been taking antihypertensive drugs, and I’ve never had this problem before. I went to the Hospital for a check-up, but they didn’t say what caused it, just told me to rest more. Yet, the more I stay at home, the more anxious I become.”

”Open your mouth and let me see your tongue coating.”

”Aaah...”

Du Heng glanced at the woman’s wide-open mouth and couldn’t help but wince slightly.

Setting aside her other issues for a moment, the amount of dental calculus was truly astonishing. Some of her teeth had fallen out, but the gaps were completely, and quite solidly, filled by dental calculus. The smell... I absolutely have to hold my breath to get through this.

”Do you urinate frequently?”

”Yes, about three or four times a day. If I don’t drink water, I get unbearably thirsty. But as soon as I drink water, I have to urinate within a few minutes.”

”Do you have phlegm in your throat?”

”I wouldn’t exactly call it phlegm. There’s always a sticky feeling, but when I cough it up, it just looks like saliva. Doctor, this isn’t lung cancer, is it?”
