This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

Du Heng gritted his teeth and glared at Liao Quansheng. Unable to hold back, he kicked him in the thigh. ”Scumbag.”

”AH~~~~~ Beast!”

Liao Quansheng screamed in pain, his body suddenly doubling over as he clutched his thigh.

”Bro, what’s wrong?”

Just then, Liao Yuzhu walked out. Beside her, Wu Shengnan, with a look of wonder, carefully held the baby, her movements cautious and her limbs a little stiff.

Liao Yuzhu looked at the agonized Liao Quansheng and asked, while Wu Shengnan brought the baby to Du Heng’s side. ”Husband, look, so cute.”

Du Heng saw Wu Shengnan holding the baby awkwardly and uncomfortably, so he reached out and took the child from her arms.

Looking at the chubby, pink baby before him, Du Heng couldn’t help but smile. This was the second time he had seen his godson.

The first time had been just after he came out of the delivery room; back then, the baby was a wrinkled, dark little thing.

”Be careful.” Wu Shengnan watched Du Heng hold the baby, immediately becoming extremely nervous. ”Do you even know how to hold a baby? Don’t hold him the wrong way.”

”Don’t worry. My niece and nephew, I held them a lot when they were little. I have plenty of experience.” Du Heng said and started playing with the baby. He especially loved the baby’s chubby cheeks, the little smacking lips, and those bright, dark eyes, finding them incredibly endearing.

”Husband, will our children look like this in the future?”

”Of course, as handsome as my godson.” Du Heng laughed and turned to look at Wu Shengnan. Seeing her still smiling at the baby, he couldn’t help but joke, ”But aren’t you thinking a little too far ahead?”

Wu Shengnan immediately glared at Du Heng. ”What do you mean? You don’t want to?”

”That’s not what I mean. We’re not even engaged yet. Isn’t thinking about having kids a bit far off?”

Hearing Du Heng say this, Wu Shengnan’s attitude softened, and she muttered quietly, ”It’s just because you’re not up to it. If you were, I could have one right now.”

Du Heng chuckled. ”Give birth right now? That’s kind of going against the laws of nature, isn’t it?”

”Hmph, just try to change the subject. I think you’re just making excuses for not being up to it.”

Du Heng raised an eyebrow. ”Don’t provoke me.”

”And what if I do?”

”Just don’t regret it.”

”Afraid of you?”

”Alright. We’ll see if you’re still talking so tough when we get back tonight.”

Wu Shengnan’s face reddened slightly, but she retorted stubbornly, ”We’ll see what you’re made of.”

At this point, Liao Quansheng couldn’t hold back any longer. He expressed his disdain for the couple’s ”whispering.” ”You two, can you discuss such private topics when you get home?”

Wu Shengnan was a little embarrassed, but Du Heng shot back directly, ”Eavesdropping on other people’s conversations? Shameless.”

Liao Quansheng looked speechlessly at Du Heng and Wu Shengnan. ”Please, the three of us are less than a meter apart. When you talk, am I supposed to just cover my ears?”

”Alright, Bro, let me have a word with Heng.” Liao Yuzhu spoke up, interrupting her big brother’s teasing and rescuing Wu Shengnan from her embarrassment.

Liao Yuzhu smiled gently, her smile warm. ”Heng, there’s something I’d like to ask you to help me with.”

”Go ahead. Why stand on ceremony with me?” Du Heng agreed readily.

”I want to take the baby to Xiao Fang’s home.”

Du Heng faltered, his earlier magnanimity hanging awkwardly in the air. ”Um... are you going to Xiao Fang’s parents’ house? There’s no need for that. Their family... there’s no one left.”

”No, I want to go to his older sister’s house. Xiao Fang told me that he thought of his aunt and uncle as his own father and mother.”

Du Heng pursed his lips. ”I can give you the address. You can go by yourselves.”

Liao Yuzhu glanced up at Liao Quansheng, then peeked quietly at Wu Shengnan. ”Heng, I’m taking the baby with me. I’m afraid it won’t be easy to explain things properly then.”

As soon as Liao Yuzhu finished speaking, Wu Shengnan chimed in, ”Husband, just go. Don’t feel awkward about it; I’m not that petty.”

Du Heng didn’t say anything, but he sighed deeply in his heart.

Originally, there were two matters weighing on his mind. One was Wang Shuqiu’s sudden departure, which had once filled him with intense, pent-up frustration. But as time passed, with Wang Shuqiu cutting off all contact and Wu Shengnan’s appearance, this matter had begun to fade from his heart.

However, the other matter on his mind did not fade with time. It didn’t lessen; instead, it grew increasingly heavy.

That was Wang Shuqiu’s mother.

At that time, preoccupied with Wang Shuqiu’s injuries, he hadn’t paid much attention to her mother’s condition, thinking she might recover after a while. Furthermore, the tragedy itself had been single-handedly caused by Wang Shuqiu’s mother, so he felt some resentment and had simply let her return home then.

But later, after Wang Shuqiu left without a word and Zhao Xinfang’s ashes were delivered, he grew increasingly dejected and resentful. Even when he saw that Wang Shuqiu’s mother hadn’t recovered, he chose to turn a blind eye.

But as the resentment gradually faded, Du Heng found he had less and less courage to face the situation—to face Wang Shuqiu’s father, who had been taciturn his whole life, and her deranged mother.

Now that Liao Yuzhu had brought this up, he found it truly difficult to decide.

Wu Shengnan didn’t know what Du Heng was thinking, but seeing his expression, she could tell he was deeply troubled.

She reached out, took Du Heng’s hand, and said softly, ”Go ahead, don’t worry. I trust you.”

Du Heng squeezed Wu Shengnan’s hand in return, feeling the warmth of her palm.
