Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Southern defense zone.

Kasu stood in the middle of the formation, the soldiers around him fully armored, and it seemed there hadn’t been any large-scale battle.

Meanwhile, a huge round-headed Ant was crawling at the very front of the entire unit. As the Power of Space fluctuated around her, fist-sized Ants appeared out of thin air, then overlapped with each other, fusing into larger, stronger Ant Tribe warriors that launched a frenzied assault on the incoming Demon Fiends.

The battle situation...

Was completely one-sided!

Luo Luo’s own combat ability was already comparable to Level 11, and under her command the Ant Tribe had grown and expanded within the Divine Territory and even the tiered battle ground. By now, no one knew how many there were, how many Mutant Ant Tribe members, and how many hidden trump cards.

Even Wen Yu himself wasn’t clear on all of this. All he could be sure of was that among his soul pets, excluding Number One, the Faceless copying his current combat power should be the strongest, and next in line would undoubtedly be Luo Luo.

Even Kasu, who was only watching from the sidelines, could see that Luo Luo hadn’t gone all out. She had merely summoned her own sub-tribes to play a game called ”legion brawl” with this demonic tide assaulting the southern defense zone.

Just treating it as troop training...

The fused Queen’s Bodyguard, each and every one of them had Limit Breakthrough Level at Level 8! These towering Ants, nearly ten meters tall, swung their mandibles and brutally twisted off any Demon Bastards daring to stand in their way. After barely an hour of slaughter, the Demon Tribe could no longer endure the carnage and decisively retreated to the rear.

Only then did Kasu walk up to Luo Luo and thank her, while Luo Luo merely nodded, then drilled a hole into the ground, preparing to build a nest there.

Since Wen Yu had already made up his mind to eliminate this demon plague, he was definitely fully prepared.

Four soul pets: Cyclops and Victor would be recalled to Wen Yu’s side after this incident to provide the Dream becomes Reality Skill System as a means for breaking limits, while Luo Luo and Star were stationed in the main battlefield to contain the demon plague.

As for the remaining small fry among the Demigods...

The Soul Puppet Legion alone was enough to beat them until they cried for mercy.

...

In a short span, the four battlefronts were completely under the control of Wen Yu’s soul pets. The seemingly surging demon plague collapsed utterly under the crushing power of overwhelming individuals. This wave, which had even scared off Fang Yuqiong’s grand demonic tide, dissipated just like that under a single order from Wen Yu.

Above the mainland bloc of the District 8 Outpost Base, two identical figures were concealed within the clouds. They watched the battle below as it neared its end. After a long moment, one of them spoke first.

”So-called group strength actually looks so pathetic in the face of individual strength. Tell me, what meaning do you think Lin Haifeng’s years of effort really have?”

The other was silent for a moment before speaking in a childlike voice.

”I think the meaning of what Lin Haifeng has done lies in leaving a shred of hope for those weak ones who have no strength and no ability, holding up a piece of sky for them. The concepts of ’group versus individual’ you talk about are things ordinary people can’t see and don’t understand. ’More people, greater strength’ is, after all, a kind of common sense... or perhaps a kind of biological instinct.”

”Just like you once said: the weak huddle together for warmth, the strong fend for themselves. That’s probably all there is to it.”

Hearing this, the one who spoke first suddenly smiled.

”Exactly, the weak huddle together for warmth, the strong fend for themselves...”

”Which is precisely why that’s the fundamental reason I look down on them.”

Having said that, he turned his head and looked toward the Void beside them, then asked.

”What do you think? Am I right?”

There, starlike motes of light flowed. In mere moments, a figure abruptly appeared in midair.

This person wore a set of golden heavy armor, his features stern and oppressive, yet at this moment he only looked at Wen Yu with a complicated gaze. After a long pause, he chuckled and shook his head.

”Right, and not right... After all, no matter how strong you are, you can’t surpass the heavens... But for small-time scuffles like these, what you said is fair enough.”

The newcomer was Golden Armor. After answering Wen Yu’s question, he stared at Wen Yu for a while longer before finally showing a helpless, wry expression.

”You’re cautious, I’ll give you that—sending out a carbon copy to fool us. And this body’s material... seems to be pork rump.”

At that, Wen Yu—no, strictly speaking, the Soul Puppet carbon copy of Wen Yu kneaded from pork—burst out laughing.

From the moment he dispatched his soul pets, Wen Yu had appeared calm and unruffled, but in truth he’d been meticulously wary—he didn’t know whether the Treasure Land Protector would strike at his deployed soul pets, nor whether the Dominator would trace his soul pets back to his own head.

Wen Yu’s true body remained in Maple Leaf Town with Wei Ran, Immoveability, but the necessary precautions were not lacking—during this period, the Faceless had been constantly shadowing Cyclops and the other soul pets to respond to any possible Treasure Land Protector, and Number One had likewise been ready at all times to face the Dominator’s executioner’s blade!

But who could have predicted that all these arrangements would end up pointless? From start to finish, not a single Treasure Land Protector appeared within the Faceless’s sight.

This naturally aroused Wen Yu’s suspicion. When this demon plague descended, Wen Yu not only let several of his soul pets make a grand show of coming to the front lines to suppress the demon plague, he also came together with the Faceless, openly radiating their auras above the District 8 Outpost Base, hoping to use this ”risking oneself as bait” approach to probe the Dominator’s and the Treasure Land Protectors’ true intentions.

And then, he awaited his old acquaintance—Golden Armor.

...

”So, what exactly are you all thinking... I feel that since I came back this time, not only have the people down below gone off track, even you lot—I can’t quite figure you out anymore.”

”Didn’t the Dominator issue a wanted order for me? Where are your people? I’ve waited so long the flowers have wilted already...”

Living every day on tenterhooks was genuinely hard to bear. As the saying goes, whether you stick your neck out or keep it tucked in, the blade is still the blade; since it was already hanging over his head, Wen Yu simply stopped over-concealing things and asked Golden Armor outright.

Golden Armor fell silent at that. After a moment, he spoke.

”That’s not how it is...”

”What’s not how it is?”

”I mean the wanted order on you. It’s not like that. That wanted order was issued by me, not by the Dominator.”

Wen Yu didn’t really grasp the deeper relationship inside all this. He only watched Golden Armor until Golden Armor spoke again.

”You did kill Lin Sai, after all, and your identity as the demon lord’s secret child is no longer any kind of secret. As Treasure Land Protector Number One, I have to show some sort of reaction.”

”Hold on... why is it you reacting? What about the Dominator?”

”He left more than ten years ago and still hasn’t come back.”
