Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

”clang...”

The battle saber slipped from his hand and fell. Fang Yuqiong looked at the vast, seemingly endless main Demon Tribe army approaching the battlefield from afar, his body uncontrollably trembling.

”It’s over... it’s over...”

He said this, then a glimmer named ”will to survive” lit up in his eyes.

”Run... that’s right, run... I can run... I can still survive...”

”Dad... Grandfather... this place is so damn terrifying...”

Fang Yuqiong turned around with staggering steps. Trembling, he used his skills, and after several attempts, his body finally turned into a black light, darting towards the direction of the outpost base.

He ran away...

This scene was naturally witnessed by the corpse puppet. At that moment, the corpse puppet was struggling to contend with the immensely powerful Giant Cyclops Commander, a glimmer of sorrow flashing in its eyes.

There is nothing worth despising, nor anything to blame; the situation has reached this point. Even if one dies fighting here to the end, it is just a road to death.

Though ignoble, no one can blame others for their ignoble actions.

Nobility, morality, are for self-restraint, not for restraining others; this is the higher morality...

However, disappointment in his heart was inevitable.

Lin Haifeng didn’t raise a good grandson...

...

The eastern defense zone’s situation rapidly deteriorated, and likewise, the other zones were no better off.

In short... Lin Haifeng underestimated the determination of the Demon Tribe this time... or rather, he underestimated the strength of the Level 8 Demon Tribe.

Each level stronger than the last, this indeed is undeniable. However, Lin Haifeng did not anticipate that as the Demon Fiends leveled up, the means they could employ also increased, just like the sudden appearance of the Demon Tribe vanguard battalion on the quadrilateral battlefield—these Giant Cyclopes that Lin Haifeng had never seen before.

They appeared abruptly, immediately tearing through the already poorly prepared defense line, coupled with the individual power overwhelming and continuous reinforcements from the main Demon Tribe army, ultimately, these four-sided defense lines simply couldn’t be held.

Lin Haifeng urgently transmitted the ”retreat” order to the front lines, then after pondering for a moment, he dialed Wen Yu’s communication once more.

However, it rang for a long time without any response.

Lin Haifeng put down the communicator, sighing softly in his heart.

At this moment, Lin Haifeng could only place his hopes in Wen Yu.

...

In the northern defense zone, as the Sword Light swept and roared, it carved out shrill sword shadows in the space, these sword shadows surging toward the Cyclopes in waves, slicing them one by one in half.

At that moment, Qin Tian stood in the middle of the defense zone, raising his bone sword high, his Profound Sword Technique resounding every seven seconds. At his feet, the colossal 15-meter-tall Giant Cyclops lay with its head separated, cold and lifeless on the ground.

Qin Tian’s strength was naturally not comparable to the corpse puppet, yet the destructive power of the Profound Sword Technique was incredibly powerful. The northern defense line encountered similar troubles as the eastern line. However, when that Cyclops leader landed, it was instantly met with a Sword Light strike that Qin Tian had cultivated who knows how long.

In an instant, a swift slice relieved the pressure on the northern defense line significantly.

But it was merely a relief.

The second wave of the Cyclops battalion’s assault still caught Qin Tian off guard. As the skirmish began, Qin Tian and Arthur led the charge, engaging in a back-and-forth with the Cyclopes, and even the subsequent violet fire descending from the sky was intercepted by the well-protected shield generator.

But this changed nothing.

As the ground trembled and Demonic Qi surged, in the distance, countless Soot Skin Demon Fiends charged ferociously toward the battlefield, their numbers so great even in Qin Tian’s eyes they seemed endless.

”Retreat!”

Without hesitation, he decisively issued the order, then in a flash appeared at the forefront with Arthur, making a stand for the army’s retreat.

Such is the effect of a strong leader... Although Qin Tian’s strength may not be much greater than Fang Yuqiong’s now, emerging from a mountain of corpses and a sea of blood, his mindset is bound to be much stronger than these pampered fledglings.

Upon receiving the order, the well-organized main force began to withdraw systematically, and Qin Tian, along with Arthur, prepared to confront the massive impending army.

At this moment, Arthur’s face was solemn, his heavy armor stained with blood as he watched the encroaching demonic tide, trying to steady his breath. As the two sides drew nearer, Arthur raised his giant sword high, with a roar, like an unstoppable knight, launching a counter-charge against the masses of Demonic Fiends!

And then...

”boom” a huge explosion.

Arthur, clad in heavy armor and weighing nearly two tons, was instantly blown far away by a sudden explosive blast, the formidable power hitting his chest like a heavy hammer, leaving him drifting like a fallen leaf, not knowing where he would land.

Whereas Qin Tian, not far from Arthur, merely stared straight up into the sky, where a vast expanse of black flames rushed toward this battlefield with great speed. Endless black fireballs rained down from the black clouds, unleashing fierce energy streams on the demonic tide below.

Arthur, just now, was swept away by the aftermath of a fireball explosion, blown who knows how far away...

...

Arthur’s defense capabilities were extremely strong, especially after receiving the Fortress from Wen Yu (SSS-Class, Passive Skill), making him even more like an ironclad can.

The minor energy shockwaves, though making Arthur look miserable, did not cause much real damage, and besides, the fireball was never aimed at Arthur.

Dizzy, Arthur pulled his head out of the ground, then looked up at the sky. In just a few seconds, the mass of black burning clouds had floated to the forefront of the battlefield. Then, it rapidly contracted, and in a moment, a massive dog’s head emerged from the clouds of fire.

It was Cyclops.

Just after advancing to Level 8, all soul pets immediately returned to the main city of the tiered battlefield. After filling up the enhanced physique from the upgrade through consuming high-quality blood and magic crystals, they adapted briefly to their new skills. Then, under Wen Yu’s orders, they headed to the main battlefield together.

Regarding this demon plague, Wen Yu had no reason to ignore it—having decided to take full control of the tiered battlefield, this piece of cake belonged solely to Wen Yu, as he wished to expel the Demigod, he equally couldn’t let the Demon Tribe run rampant on his turf.

Although Wen Yu didn’t understand the severity of the demon plague, nor the power and numbers of the Demon Tribe’s elite sent this time, in Wen Yu’s estimation, Cyclops, Star, Victor, Luo Luo...

Mere four soul pets, this force, should suffice, right?
