Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

”What did you say?”

”I said, I refuse this command!”

The Demigod was speechless. More than a decade ago, after the second Sequence Member-Ranking Battle ended with Walter dead in the arena, the Demigod recruited three younger associates—Moka, Entity K, Li Quan’an.

Of the three, Moka was unquestionably the most favored by the Demigod and also the strongest. Naturally, the Demigod granted Moka significant authority—the Commander in charge of the tiered battleground on the Demigod’s side.

In the absence of the Demigod in the tiered battleground, Moka was a ruler of his realm, wielding the most elite force of the Demigod’s power. It’s no exaggeration to say, even before these events occurred, had Moka wanted to hoard power, the Demigod wouldn’t have had the heart to launch a purge against Moka—merely because the cost would be too great...

Yet, at the most critical moment, Moka, this highly regarded general, turned against the Demigod with a resounding blow!

”This is an order!”

”I refuse!”

The Demigod’s tone was heavy, while Moka’s was resolute. After a moment, Moka’s voice came through the communicator.

”I don’t know what happened between you and Wen Yu, or even between Yanjing and you; I don’t know why Earth’s will would issue such a bullshit command! I’m sorry, I don’t understand the game of chess between you all, nor do I wish to... But at the very least, I know what’s right and what’s wrong!”

”Lord Demigod, I’ve been on the main battlefield for five years, a full five years... Five years may be a blink for you, but it’s not like that for us, facing life and death every moment, hovering between life and death constantly, combat is our all, and our comrades are our family! It’s not just our side, but also on Yanjing’s side, and the Soul Puppet side! At first, I thought the fault lay with Lin Haifeng, with the Yanjing side for driving us out of the main battlefield, I felt cold, heartbroken, but what chilled my heart even more was your decision...”

”You want me to raise the blade against my comrades? You want me to defy what I’ve always protected? You want me to betray everything I’ve fought for?”

”I want to remind you, they are not the enemy, if you want to subjectively turn them into our enemies, I’m sorry, this time Moka refuses to comply!”

Upon hearing this, the Demigod laughed angrily!

”Fine! Fine! You’re really something! You’re here lecturing me! Do you think without you I have no one?”

”I know all under me are your people, I’m not lecturing you with any great truth, but, Lord Demigod, you must know that what I just said isn’t just my heartfelt expression, but also that of all the warriors, now, I want to seek your opinion again, or rather, I want to see if you truly are someone worth following!”

Saying this, Moka paused for a moment, then resolutely issued a voice.

”Please rescind the order!”

”No way...”

”Well, I quit, damn it!!!”

”Bang...”

The other side of the communicator immediately emitted irritating noise.

The Demigod held up the communicator, his face instantly flushed red!

”Fine, very good...”

The Demigod breathed heavily, and after a while, he dialed another communication.

”Lord Demigod.”

”Adjutant, immediately gather all the warriors withdrawn from the frontline located in Washington District 7 and attack the defense line of District 7’s main battlefield!”

”Um, Sir, only Big Boss Moka has the qualification to issue the command for this matter.”

”Moka has betrayed me, betrayed this world, betrayed Earth Mother, now, I’m transferring all authority of the main battlefield corps to you, you handle everything!”

Possibly sensing the adjutant’s continued hesitation, the Demigod finally added one more sentence.

”This is a command directly issued by Earth Mother.”

”Then I understand...”

This time, the voice returned from the adjutant was much simpler.

...

Where there are people, there will be the martial world, even the most cohesive military organization inevitably has different voices internally.

Such as between Moka and his adjutant...

Moka, as a fierce general under the Demigod, commands all frontline affairs—in this world, humans are ultimately the ones in charge, having a human leader facilitates communication and exchanges with external forces.

But cannot overlook that most of the troops under the Demigod at the frontline are mutant creatures, and they, have higher leaders—Moka’s adjutant, the Demigod, even Earth’s will.

This is where the division arises.

The clamor from outside reached Moka’s ears, but he ignored it, after smashing the communicator in his hand, he realized his stance had shifted...

But none of that mattered anymore...

What’s important is to stick to one’s true self, living people’s various commitments, whether they’re good or bad, always holding some soft spots deep in their hearts.

This time, the Demigod’s command thoroughly shattered what Moka insisted on... Thus, between loyalty and justice, he chose justice.

He didn’t know how many warriors would make the same choice as he did, hence, Moka stood up and walked outside.

...

Once Moka exited the room, what he saw was chaos outside.

Countless mutant creatures roared incessantly, at moments of urgency, they didn’t care whether the conversation’s recipient could understand foreign languages, just anxiously barking various notes.

Chaotic, yet there was a trace of order amidst the rush.

On a distant platform, the adjutant of the lion race was shouting loudly, under his organization, each mutant beast either approached or went afar, soon, the camp was clearly divided.

The Human Race needs no further discussion, none would believe the adjutant’s words, nor would anyone believe the Demigod issued such an idiot command. But the mutant beasts were different, approximately one-third of the mutant beasts stood beside the adjutant, they formed orderly ranks, displayed battle formations.

Until the formation was completed, the adjutant glanced at Moka from afar, then, without any further communication, the partner of five years remained in place while the other led the charge into the distance.

”Big Boss Moka, was what the adjutant said just now true?”

Moka paused for a moment, then nodded.

Instantly, the crowd burst with discussions, but Moka merely took flight to the platform, gazing at the frenzied warriors below, he slowly spoke.

”I can’t do it...”

His low voice transmitted in all directions, under those four words, the chaos gradually subsided.

”I can’t fulfill the command the Demigod issued... And those of you remaining here, shouldn’t be able to either?”

Moka didn’t need to observe to already know the answer, he didn’t lift his head, just speaking on his own.

”Your choices aren’t wrong, my choice isn’t wrong either, the choices of those who left aren’t wrong, even those who drove us out weren’t really wrong... But things have come to this point, then who really made the mistake?”
