Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

”Although having Victor deliver the message vaguely expresses your powerlessness against the Demigod and Tang Haofei, I still want to ask, you should be stronger than Tang Haofei now, right?”

”That’s right, much stronger.”

Wen Yu cleanly admitted this fact—Tang Haofei would need to grind through five years of Life and Death Battle Execution to reach the height Wen Yu has in five years. In other words, Old Tang might need three years of grinding to match Wen Yu directly at present. With such a disparity in strength, as long as Wen Yu catches sight of Tang Haofei, it would only take a minute or so for Wen Yu to end it all!

”Then why don’t you personally return to Earth and directly eliminate Tang Haofei?”

Wen Yu fell silent for a moment before explaining.

”My situation is quite complicated now. Are you aware of the Dominator’s bounty on me?”

”Yes, the Treasure Land Protector informed me about this years ago, but I ignored it. However, this shouldn’t be a hurdle. Aren’t you facing the same threat on the tiered battle ground?”

Lin Haifeng doesn’t know about Number One’s existence, and accordingly, Wen Yu couldn’t possibly inform Lin Haifeng about having this deadly weapon. Wen Yu could only casually say, ”The tiered battle ground is still relatively safe for me for now, but Earth is different. Earth’s will has always been hostile towards me. Once I return to Earth, I might expose my whereabouts, and the risk is too great. I can’t withstand an attack from Level 12 experts.”

”Alright, let’s just leave it at that. Overall, you just can’t go back to Earth, right?”

”Correct.”

”What about your soul pet?”

”The soul pet can, but preferably without much fanfare. I have ways to shield them from the Dominator’s perception, but if my soul pet causes a big disturbance, unless the Dominator is blind, the logic is the same.”

”So what you mean is you yourself cannot act on Earth at all. It’s best not to return, yet your soul pet can go back to Earth but can only make limited moves to resolve some issues.”

”Exactly.”

The soul pets can return to Earth, and if anything goes wrong, Wen Yu can pull them back to the Soul Realm space, which is safer than Wen Yu personally going back. But overall, as long as the battlefield is on Earth, Wen Yu’s power seems to be constrained by over eighty percent.

This makes overwhelming strength seem like a luxury.

”But unfortunately, the Demigod won’t come to the tiered battle ground, and Tang Haofei won’t return to the tiered battle ground either. In other words, now you are restrained by the Dominator and Earth’s will and can’t go back to Earth, while Tang Haofei and the Demigod are mindful of your presence and won’t come to the tiered battle ground. Tsk tsk tsk, you’ve divided the territory quite clearly.”

Hearing Old Lin’s teasing, Wen Yu couldn’t help but smile slightly.

On the surface, it appears that both sides maintain peace, but this is just a strange balance achieved under multiple factors.

And balance is always bound to break someday!

”So, let’s come up with a solution, not just for me, but for yourself and this world.”

Upon hearing this, Lin Haifeng fell silent for a moment before speaking.

”Maybe we can turn the tables according to the Demigod’s plan to overturn Yanjing, and then turn it around at the crucial moment... Hmm, let Faceless become my likeness, take your blood, and if anyone comes to kill me, Faceless can counteract immediately. Even if Tang Haofei attempts something, Faceless can keep him here, right?”

”That’s not feasible...”

Wen Yu calmly dismissed Lin Haifeng’s scheme.

”The Demigod has Soul Abiogenetic Creation Skill, which limits the actions of the Soul Puppet Legion. Moreover, the Demigod would certainly know I retrieved Carmille’s memories; in other words, now we know the Demigod’s plan to overturn Yanjing, and the Demigod also knows that we know this fact as well. My actions, or Carmille’s plea for aid, are equivalent to showing both sides’ cards; the current situation is an open hand.”

Once the cards are shown, many plans and plots lose their fertile ground for growth, hence the Yanjing plan becomes a thorough misfit. But this does not mean the Demigod’s plan has failed...

Even without the Yanjing plan, as time progresses, he can concoct some plan of Yanjing Annihilation, or a Yanjing collapse plan—the Demigod backed by Earth’s will inherently holds numerous advantages!

Wen Yu’s gesture of informing Lin Haifeng was also to see if Lin Haifeng could suggest a way to regain this advantage.

Hearing Wen Yu’s remarks, Lin Haifeng immediately stood up from his seat, paced around the office, furrowing his brows as if contemplating something.

His hurried footsteps interrupted Victor’s deep sleep. Victor squinted at Lin Haifeng before returning to his dreamland—perhaps only these soul pets deeply believe that, before their boss, even the biggest matters would fade like a gentle breeze.

After a moment, Lin Haifeng sighed.

”No, there isn’t a good solution for this.”

”You can’t return to Earth, and Earth is the Demigod’s home ground. We have little chance to find the Demigod’s whereabouts. Even if found, without your direct or indirect intervention, we are utterly helpless against the Demigod. Even if you can deploy your soul pet, we need to guard against Earth’s will... From any angle, this matter seems overly challenging.”

In the face of multiple factors, Lin Haifeng couldn’t come up with a promising idea.

”I can only stem losses for now, evacuate powerful experts like Fran from Yanjing to the tiered battle ground. The Xuanwu War God can’t return, neither the Eternal Sky City, nor the Azure Dragon War God... Alas, after all, it’s somebody else’s home ground. Even if the Demigod’s plan fails, my losses would still be substantial.”

Yanjing, being Lin Haifeng’s foundation, merely evacuating people can only mitigate minor losses. But with the Demigod occupying the advantageous terrain and timing, stemming losses appears to be the only option.

But Lin Haifeng’s mention of ”home turf” sparked a sudden idea in Wen Yu.

He himself possesses home ground advantage too!

Wen Yu immediately spoke up.

”I just thought of a way.”

”What way?”

Lin Haifeng instantly raised his head, asked through the communicator.

”The tiered battle ground is my territory. It harbors my soul puppet, my soul pet, and everything of mine. The tiered battle ground is also what I obtained as a reward from Sequence Member-Ranking Battle. Initially, I took it out for the greater cause, but it seems now some have forgotten my past sacrifices... I think I should reclaim this part of authority, don’t you think?”
