Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 444: Chapter 55: We’re in the same group (Additional for thousands of dreams at dawn!)_1

Without rushing to check the effects of the advanced Ultra Mortal Combat, Wen Yu waved his hand, summoning Cyclops. Meanwhile, a slightly hesitant Spiritual Fluctuation was transmitted into Cyclops’s mind.

”I have... Ah... a skill, an Esoteric Level one, very effective, but...”

After thinking for a while, Wen Yu still didn’t know how to talk to Cyclops about this matter.

Yes, when he saw the skill effects of Great Feast, Cyclops was the first one that came to Wen Yu’s mind. A perfect match indeed!

The fact that Cyclops was not a divine beast had significantly limited its combat power. Even though Cyclops was very powerful among normal mutant beasts, it was not enough for Wen Yu. Far from enough!

But Great Feast could fill this void. An Esoteric Level ability, by Wen Yu’s estimation, could have a dramatic transformative effect on Cyclops. It might even surpass a divine beast, perhaps. But, the physical changes were too drastic! According to the skill description, once this skill is learned, one’s appearance will gradually change until it turns into a monster!

To call it a monster might be an understatement. Transformed, Cyclops could no longer be strictly considered a dog. Given Cyclops’s intelligence and cognitive concepts, Wen Yu was unsure if Cyclops could bear such a physical change.

This was similar to Tang Haofei’s idea—giving up one’s original identity and species for more power! Whether it’s worth it or not, it all depends on the individual...

Putting the skill scroll beside Cyclops and leaving it to inspect the skill’s effects for itself, Wen Yu stood up straight and silently waited for Cyclops’s decision.

Though Wen Yu could decide, he wouldn’t force any of his soul pets, not one.

After a while, Cyclops looked over the Great Feast skill scroll several times and then raised its head.

The determination in its eyes sent a tremor through Wen Yu’s heart. After all, Cyclops wanted to become stronger, or rather, to be more supportive!

”Decided? Once decided, such a change is permanent... no more little pretty dogs...”

”WOOF WOOF...”

”Guess it’s the price you pay for being a dog dude, causing so much trouble to the fairer sex...”

Though seemingly an effortless answer, the underlying insinuation was far from casual. After a while, Wen Yu asked once again.

”Decided?”

Cyclops nodded.

Wen Yu directly activated Great Feast, replacing the High Frequency Blade (A-Class, Active Ability) on Cyclops.

The skill description for Great Feast stated that it would gradually change the host’s body. So, presumably, its teeth and claws would also be part of this transformation. The High Frequency Blade (A-Class, Active Ability) then seemed rather superfluous.

He again checked the newly advanced Ultra Mortal Combat skill. The name hadn’t changed, though.

Ultra Mortal Combat (SSS-Class, Passive Skill): An extraordinary combat will that renders the host fearless. Pain is significantly reduced. As injuries worsen, the host’s basic physical attributes will increase exponentially, with no upper limit. When the host’s physical injuries reach their limit, Ultra Mortal Combat activates its secondary state: attacks received by the host’s body will be completely transformed into Soul Impact. Furthermore, the soul trauma resulting from these Soul Attacks will continue to amplify the power of Ultra Mortal Combat. When the soul trauma reaches its limit, Ultra Mortal Combat activates its final state: the host’s current physical attributes will triple, and for 30 seconds, the host becomes immune to all forms of attacks. (This is not absolute immunity, as no skill provides an absolute damage immunity effect! It is similar to invincibility but is only relative immunity.) After 30 seconds, the host enters the Near-death State.

The changes in the skill description weren’t significant. According to Cyclops’s own senses, after Ultra Mortal Combat advanced, the enhancement to its physical attributes was substantially greater. At the same time, the effects and duration of Ultra Mortal Combat’s final state were greatly improved.

He again checked Perfect Duplication, now upgraded to the Esoteric Level.

Perfect Duplication (Species-specific Esoteric Level, Active Ability): By absorbing another creature’s body tissue, the host can transform into that creature’s form. However, the creature being duplicated cannot exceed the host’s own level.

Note: Divine beasts or demon spawn can be duplicated!

Upon seeing this, Wen Yu felt satisfied at once!

Now that Perfect Duplication had advanced to the Species-specific Esoteric Level, it could duplicate divine beasts or demon spawn. Additionally, when duplicating Esoteric Level skills, it no longer produced flawed versions.

Moreover, Wen Yu glanced at Tang Haofei, who was standing beside him.

As long as he could acquire Tang Haofei’s blood, the Perfect Duplication ability will undoubtedly yield its greatest outcome!

However, would Tang Haofei allow Wen Yu to do as he wished?

Wen Yu offhandedly tossed the Pure Light Realm to Tang Haofei, paused briefly, and expressed his request directly.

”I want your blood.”

His words were slightly blunt, but from this, he could directly gauge Tang Haofei’s attitude—whether he was friend or foe, and whether Tang Haofei harbored any suspicion toward him.

Though Tang Haofei had just declared on the stage that they were allies, Wen Yu would not simply determine their alliance based solely on Tang Haofei’s one-sided statement and the fact that they were both reborners.

Tang Haofei glanced at the Faceless in Wen Yu’s hand, a corner of his mouth twitching slightly.

”An Esoteric Level duplication ability... it seems it can even duplicate divine beasts now. TSK TSK... this is a rather fearsome ability...”

Tang Haofei made a series of strange noises, but his actions were swift. He promptly pulled out a glass jar, about a liter in volume, and bit into his own wrist.

As the fresh blood slowly dripped from the wound, Wen Yu couldn’t help but get lost in his thoughts.

What does he mean? Is he really giving it? And such a large amount at that? Could it be he believes Perfect Duplication still wouldn’t be able to replicate his own power?

After a while, Tang Haofei tossed a large glass jar into Wen Yu’s hands.

At the same time, Tang Haofei’s voice resonated, ”Due to the special nature of my profession, your soul pet cannot replicate my professional characteristics—or protagonist template, if you will. However, it can perfectly duplicate my skills. There should be no substantial difference in our raw strength. Ask me again when you’ve used it all!”

”Also, I must repeat, we really are allies!”

Seeing Tang Haofei’s serious expression, Wen Yu hesitantly nodded, then took out a drop of fresh blood and dripped it onto the Faceless.

Observing the Faceless’s version of Tang Haofei standing next to him, and then re-examining the skills currently on the Faceless...

Wen Yu’s eyes twitched uncontrollably.

On one hand, he found Tang Haofei’s generosity hard to believe. On the other, he was astounded at Tang Haofei’s power!

Five Esoteric Level skills were now a reality, and their terrifying nature even filled Wen Yu with a deep sense of powerlessness—Tang Haofei was essentially a world-destroying monster!

According to their skill descriptions, the True Words ability Tang Haofei had just used on stage was merely one of his weaker abilities.

Once Wen Yu finally digested this fact, he nodded at Tang Haofei.

Nothing else needed to be said. At the very least, the fact that Tang Haofei had given Wen Yu his blood without a second thought was enough to prove that he didn’t consider Wen Yu an enemy. Moreover, Wen Yu now had the resources to challenge Tang Haofei.

Perhaps the greatest gains from this Sequence Member-Ranking Battle were the Esoteric Level Perfect Duplication and a liter of Tang Haofei’s blood, Wen Yu thought.
