Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 424: Chapter 43: The Success of the Plan and the Indifference_1

The Sequence, as the banner of the Human Race chosen by the Dominator, represents the ultimate power and foundation of the Human Race. Its significance to the Human Race and the Dominator needs no further explanation.

Indeed, the Dominator must have a purpose for setting up the Sequence titles. The purpose is unknown for now, but looking at the Dominator’s attitude towards the Sequence and the handbook for the Sequence Member-Ranking Battle, it is clear that the Sequence is of great importance to the Dominator!

But just how important is it? That is a question worth exploring, and it’s something Lin Haifeng and all other enlightened members of the Human Race want clarity on.

...

Indeed, when Lin Haifeng and Tang Haofei first decided to initiate the Sequence Member-Ranking Battle, it was, as Lin Haifeng stated at yesterday’s meeting, to counter the plan to hunt Human Race Sequence members.

However, upon seeing the rules and guidelines of the Sequence Member-Ranking Battle, an idea sprung into Lin Haifeng’s mind.

”Under these challenge rules, I have the ability to manipulate the Sequence ranking. So, if I eject all the current Sequence-class powerful experts and replace them with professionists who barely meet the standard...what will the Dominator’s reaction be? Or more accurately, can we benefit from the Dominator’s reaction?”

Scheming against the Dominator, reaping tremendous benefits from this supposedly unrewarding treasure land, and investigating the position of the Sequence in the Dominator’s eyes to gain some insights, even insignificant ones, into the Dominator’s intentions and actions was the fundamental aim of Lin Haifeng’s plan.

...

Could this plan possibly succeed?

Quite possible, with a high likelihood!

Lin Haifeng has the ability to control the Sequence rankings. After all, a majority of the powerful experts have been absorbed by the military. With this in mind, granting some benefits to Independent Sequence members is not a difficult target for Lin Haifeng!

And what can the Dominator do about Sequence members wanting to surrender willingly? Kill them? No, until now, the Dominator hasn’t actively killed anyone, especially not a Sequence member.

To ensure the quality of the Sequence, the Dominator must offer sufficient benefits to make those powerful experts fight and scramble for them! Only then can the goal of having numerous powerful experts truly battle it out be achieved!

Moreover, offering too little won’t work; it would mean the Sequence is not important to the Dominator at all! In that situation, Lin Haifeng could still manipulate the Sequence rankings, indirectly scheming against the Demon Hunting Group—this is also one of his objectives! Furthermore, it would demonstrate even more clearly that the Sequence is of little use to the Dominator. If this were to happen, all informed powerful experts would have to reconsider if this Sequence is worth fighting for!

Therefore, this treasure land was not actually intended for an open Sequence Member-Ranking Battle from the start, but rather a clandestine battle between Lin Haifeng and the Dominator!

...

At present, after yesterday’s meeting and the information spread by Lin Haifeng last night, almost all the remaining professionists are aware that this Sequence Member-Ranking Battle is fundamentally a military game to internally designate the Sequence members. If the Dominator still can’t guess his general idea, Lin Haifeng will have to seriously question the Dominator’s IQ!

...

Either by defeating the Independents with absolute strength or by having negotiated terms beforehand, the Sequence rankings were fixed within a short period!

With the military’s top experts led by Fang Bai, Michael, and the previous Sequence Number 9 and Sequence Number 10, the military firmly controlled positions from Sequence Number 91 to Sequence Number 100!

While these few had just been eliminated, they still had one more chance to challenge, hence were not directly sent out of the treasure land.

As for the positions above them, aside from no changes to the top five, 82 out of the remaining 85 Sequence members were wearing badges!

These were all ”unqualified” Sequence members who had barely made it through the qualification battle and were then chosen by Lin Haifeng!

Wen Yu took a quick look around.

Tang Haofei wore an inscrutable smile, Kasu was frowning, Qin Min was exchanging eerie smiles with Akad, and Yang Hong, another face Wen Yu remembered, sat at Sequence Number 32’s position, looking speechless at the soldiers in military uniforms wearing badges around him...

If the Dominator can still endure at this point, it proves that the Sequence does not play a significant role for the Dominator!

On the contrary, the top ten Sequence members still have to face the Demon Hunting Group...

This Sequence Number 2 title... I’d be better off without it!

...

The entire arena gradually quieted down. The white light had been gradually dimming for the past half hour.

The military’s ten extremely powerful experts firmly held their positions from Sequence Number 91 to Sequence Number 100, preventing anyone else from advancing a single step.

The number of professionists yet to challenge was dwindling. Even those who still had an opportunity, upon witnessing the scene, should have realized that becoming a Sequence member today was likely out of reach for them.

Outside the arena, Lin Haifeng waited with a furrowed brow for a long time. After a considerable pause, he heaved a soft sigh.

”It looks like the Dominator isn’t going to show up...”

With this thought, Lin Haifeng brought the communicator to his mouth and calmly said,

”Get Vincent ready to challenge Akad and completely disable his River of Death!”
