Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 438: Chapter 51: Eternal Spring (Extra Chapter for Xu Shunde’s Generous Reward!)_1

The Sword Light slowly dissipated, and in the next second, the glow of teleportation flashed.

Walter sat in his original spot, his face ashen. Yes, his original spot. He stared down at Qin Tian, who was sighing faintly below, the fear in Walter’s eyes growing more intense. Just now, it was so close. I nearly got slashed by the Sword Light! If I hadn’t managed to release a Water Jet at the last moment, piercing Qin Tian’s forehead—exposed because he was attacking—and killing him first, I would have been the one to lose. Recalling the immense fear of that enormous Sword Light, so close... for the first time, I doubt my own power...

It seems... I can be defeated. I can be killed...

The fleeting thought passed through Walter’s mind. He looked up at Tang Haofei, who was relaxed and calm above, and then at Wen Yu, who waited with his eyes closed, rapidly adjusting his breathing.

Since my power is insufficient, I’ll have to risk everything to enhance it. And there’s no better way to boost my power than the rewards from this ranking sequence!

Several minutes passed quickly. Walter composed himself—mainly his psychological state. This revealed that Walter, despite living on a secluded island for years and gaining immense power at the start of the apocalypse, wasn’t particularly strong mentally.

Then, Walter signaled to Wen Yu, indicating he was about to issue his challenge.

Wen Yu simply smiled and nodded at Walter. It had to be said, Walter’s sincere personality easily earned him goodwill.

With a flash of white light, Wen Yu and Walter were teleported directly into the Challenge Space.

The Walter before him seemed somewhat constrained.

Actually, I’m doubting my own power for the first time. The sense of danger I felt from Qin Tian just now was real, and the facts proved it. Qin Tian definitely had the power to defeat me. So, what about Wen Yu, who feels even more dangerous?

While Walter was lost in thought, Wen Yu had already summoned Faceless and swiftly entered a battle state.

2nd Soul Realm augmentation—Flames of Tyranny (SS-Class, Active Ability).

3rd Soul Realm augmentation—Dragon Blood Amplification (SSS-Class, Active Ability).

5th Soul Realm augmentation—Netherworld (Species-specific Esoteric Level, Passive Skill).

Then, Wen Yu dripped a drop of his blood onto Faceless.

Faceless changed rapidly, and within moments, it had taken on Wen Yu’s likeness.

In this type of one-on-one battle, especially when the opponent possessed terrifying individual combat power, sending out a soul pet to fight was definitely an unwise choice. Just recently, Qin Min had managed to directly confront an early Stage Level 5 unicorn, a divine beast; Walter was an even greater threat. So, in this combat mode, entering a battle state and having one’s soul pet provide augmented skills was the best choice.

Faceless, in this situation, actually became Wen Yu’s strongest asset. It couldn’t be denied that, most of the time, skills were indeed far more valuable than raw physical attributes.

However, when Wen Yu briefly glanced over Faceless’s skills, he discovered something rather awkward: Faceless hadn’t completely copied Netherworld (Species-specific Esoteric Level, Passive Skill).

Faceless’s Perfect Duplication was an SSS-Class skill, while Netherworld was a Species-specific Esoteric Level skill. Due to skill level Suppression, the version of Netherworld copied by Faceless felt incomplete and awkward.

Netherworld (Species-specific Esoteric Level, Passive Skill, Incomplete): Between life and death, such a world exists—it neither enters the mortal realm nor descends into hell! Once generated, the skill automatically creates a Netherworld domain with a 1,000-meter diameter around the host. Within this domain, the host can somewhat alter its laws, including but not limited to space, time, speed, and gravity.

It had directly cut Netherworld’s power in half, and even the Netherworld Warrior transformation function had vanished. After briefly familiarizing himself with this nerfed version of Netherworld, Wen Yu discovered that even its ability to alter the domain’s laws was far weaker than the original.

This is equivalent to forcibly reducing Netherworld from a Species-specific Esoteric Level skill to an SSS-Class one...

Casually changing his 5th Soul Realm skill, Wen Yu replaced Netherworld with Traceless (S-class, Active Ability).

He then dispelled Faceless’s duplication state and dripped another drop of his blood onto it.

This time, as soon as Faceless transformed into Wen Yu’s likeness, Traceless activated, and its figure vanished instantaneously.

2nd Soul Realm augmentation—Ultra Mortal Combat (SS-Class, Passive Ability).

3rd Soul Realm augmentation—Dragon Blood Amplification (SSS-Class, Active Ability).

5th Soul Realm augmentation—Netherworld (Species-specific Esoteric Level, Passive Skill).

The process seemed convoluted, but in reality, it was incredibly quick. Wen Yu completed this series of actions within a few seconds and then looked up at Walter.

”What’s the matter? Aren’t you going to attack? You just had a good opportunity.”

Walter shook his head. ”It’s impolite to strike someone who is preparing for battle.”

Good, this lad has potential!

Wen Yu silently praised him. Then, looking at Walter solemnly, he said, ”I’m ready. Shall we begin?”

Walter nodded. Then, a stream of Black Light plunged directly into Walter’s body—Pitch-dark Absorption (S-class, Active Ability).

Starting with a curse had become Wen Yu’s combat habit. Moreover, Pitch-dark Absorption, enhanced by Dragon Blood Amplification, was particularly effective.

However, Walter’s body suddenly shone with an aqueous light, and in an instant, Wen Yu’s connection to Pitch-dark Absorption was severed.

As if his body were made of water, Walter was covered in rippling aqueous light. The threatening aura radiating from him grew ever stronger.

A clear voice emanated from Walter, ”Be careful. My profession is Sea King. My affinity with water has reached the pinnacle among all professions, and I am completely immune to damage from water-attribute abilities and Physical Attacks!”

Hearing this self-introduction, Wen Yu paused.

If only all enemies were as straightforward as Walter, things would be so much easier...

Water droplets rained down on Wen Yu from all directions. He didn’t hold back and directly activated Pitch-dark Sovereign to withstand the first barrage of exploding droplets. Strictly speaking, most of an explosion’s Lethality came from its shockwave and heat. With his dual abilities of darkness and dislimning, enduring or evading the impact was simple for Wen Yu.

The wildly fluctuating Energy Fluctuations made Walter’s eyes twitch. At the same time, the power of his skills reached its peak!

Eternal Spring (Species-specific Esoteric Level, Passive ability): Also known as the Origin of Water, this ability bestows the professionist possessing it with an unsurpassed affinity for the Water Element. It also changes the host’s constitution, transforming their flesh-and-blood body into one of pure Water Element, granting complete immunity to water-attribute damage and physical injuries. When in contact with water, their vitality and injury recovery speed accelerate. Furthermore, all water-based or water-variant skills (such as blood-based, ice-based, and so on) possessed by the host are elevated to SSS-Class Skill Effects, regardless of their original level, while their consumption remains unchanged.

This was Walter’s core ability.

For instance, the Water Droplet Bomb Walter had just launched was originally a C-Class skill that had been elevated.

Water Droplet Bomb (C-Class, Active Ability): Launches a water droplet, converting some of its mass into energy to cause a powerful explosion.

When this ability was elevated to SSS-Class Skill Effects, its explosive power became comparable to 1,000 tons of TNT, and even more terrifyingly, its stamina consumption was virtually nil.

Water Jet (D-Class, Active Ability), when transformed by Eternal Spring, had power comparable to a laser.

Water Light Barrier (B-Class, Active Ability): Its original defense capabilities were pitifully weak, but now, it could be described as an impenetrable fortress.

Rainstorm Technique (E-Class, Active Ability): Originally equivalent to wide-area artificial rainfall, when Walter deployed it now, it was like nuclear bombs falling from the sky—its power was boundless.
