Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 434: Chapter 49 Advancing Independents_1

When the silver-haired old man defeated Fang Bai, the battle between Walter and Akad also concluded.

Due to the different flow of time, the spectators outside had no idea how long their fight lasted. However, the outcome was as most had predicted: Walter secured his place at Sequence Number 6, while Akad, pale-faced, was relegated to Sequence Number 7.

Poor Akad. Due to the rules of the treasure land, his lost ’lives’ were gone for good; the Dominator could only heal his physical injuries.

Now devoid of hundreds of thousands, even millions, of ’lives’, Akad was arguably the weakest target among the current top ten.

Everyone realized this.

Lan Bo gave Akad a sly smile and immediately launched a challenge against him!

「...」

Within the Challenge Space, Lan Bo wildly swung his three-meter-long broadsword at Akad, who desperately dodged the onslaught. But where could he run?

In less than ten seconds, Akad was struck down by the broadsword and declared defeated.

Akad, now seated at Sequence Number 8, heaved a brief sigh of relief. Dugu Jian had just challenged Lan Bo and failed, thus losing his qualification to challenge Akad.

While Akad’s current strength was pitifully weak, having a powerful expert like Dugu Jian act as his ’gatekeeper’ was a small comfort.

Subsequently, the challenges for the top ten positions resumed.

Among the top ten, six consecutive flashes of light streaked past.

Qin Min challenged Kasu, Walter challenged Vincent, and the silver-haired old man challenged Dugu Jian.

The fight between Walter and Vincent ended quickly.

When Walter fired dozens of water droplets, Vincent chose to concede without hesitation.

At this stage, few could withstand the bombardment of dozens of miniature nuclear bombs in an enclosed space. Naturally, Vincent was no exception.

There wasn’t much to say about the fight between the silver-haired old man and Dugu Jian; as long as one possessed a body of flesh and blood, there was little chance of withstanding the old man’s blood-draining tactics.

Meanwhile, the contest between Qin Min and Kasu reached a stalemate.

「...」

Golden and creamy-white lights flickered inside the Challenge Space, as immense Energy Fluctuations spread far and wide.

Judging from their battle, both Kasu and Qin Min were quite formidable, at least stronger than the Kuangliu of before.

This also demonstrated that the previous sequence rankings did not necessarily reflect true strength.

After a quick glance, Wen Yu looked away. While those two are strong, they pose little threat to me.

He turned his gaze to the still-intense sequence challenges below, gauging the physical constitution of the participants. After a while, Wen Yu’s attention became firmly fixed on four individuals.

Sequence Number 17: a blonde woman with an easel, currently sketching Qin Min and Kasu.

She’s quite stunning! Even more so than Annie. Coupled with her quiet demeanor, she’s undoubtedly a beautiful sight in this male-dominated sequence challenge. However, Wen Yu was more interested in the faint heartbeat he detected from her.

Power Level: Middle Stage Level 5. That’s my rough assessment of her physical constitution, and it shouldn’t be far off.

Sequence Number 24: a pale, burly, and handsome Western man clad in heavy armor. He evoked an inexplicably familiar and somewhat comforting feeling in Wen Yu.

This man reminds me of William.

Power Level: Early Stage Level 5!

Sequence Number 58: an elderly Taoist priest in a grimy robe. More coincidentally, Yang Hong was at Sequence Number 57, currently looking helpless as he accepted a half-eaten chicken leg from the old priest, awkwardly responding to the latter’s enthusiasm.

Power Level: Undeterminable.

Wen Yu couldn’t hear the old Taoist’s heartbeat at all.

Sequence Number 82: a handsome young Asian man in a leather jacket. He appeared as nonchalant as a tourist, yet the aura he emitted sent waves of danger through Wen Yu.

Power Level: Unassessable. But, among those present, besides myself, only two others make me feel this sense of danger—Tang Haofei and Walter.

「...」

After a while, the silver-haired old man issued another challenge, targeting Akad.

Akad’s ’lives’ were completely depleted. Under these circumstances, the poor guy was merely an Early Stage Level 5 professionist without a single skill. The outcome was as expected: Akad suffered another defeat and dropped to Sequence Number 9.

Meanwhile, the battle between Qin Min and Kasu concluded.

Ultimately, Kasu proved slightly stronger, barely defeating Qin Min to retain his Sequence Number 3 spot. Qin Min, on the other hand, lost his qualification to issue further challenges.

Then, Walter, now at Sequence Number 5, struck again!

「...」

Water droplets danced in the air as Walter occasionally shot out thin, laser-like streams of water—this was the second type of attack he had revealed.

This also demonstrated that Qin Min’s strength indeed surpassed that of fighters like Fang Bai and Lan Bo, at least to some extent. However, it ultimately proved futile.

In less than three minutes, Qin Min was directly kicked out of his spot by Walter. Then, without pausing, Walter immediately challenged Kasu.

Wen Yu’s eye twitched slightly as he watched the duel between Kasu and Walter below. Simultaneously, his body slowly relaxed as he prepared for his own first challenge.
