Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 418: Chapter 38 Saints and Madmen_2

Accompanied by the intense sound of gunshots and Akad’s incessant cursing, the entire meeting hall was plunged into an indescribable, bizarre atmosphere. This Akad, he came today solely to cause havoc!

Listening to the clamorous noise nearby and Akad’s crazed solo show, Wen Yu let out a long sigh.

Tang Haofei, standing nearby, also looked incredibly disturbed. ”This guy is truly a lunatic. At the slightest disagreement, he’ll massacre an entire town. The number of people in Britain who have died by his hand even surpasses those killed by zombies! Now you understand why we want to kill him, don’t you?”

Wen Yu remained silent.

This guy, judging from his behavior and Tang Haofei’s words, is essentially a human-shaped nuclear bomb. He also possesses exceptionally strong survival abilities. Coupled with his cruelty and murderous nature, he’s a walking disaster!

What’s more, Wen Yu could now confirm that this man was absolutely unfit to be a partner—his troublemaking capabilities were all too impressive!

Not to mention, his values and worldview greatly conflicted with Wen Yu’s own.

After a while, Wen Yu asked again, ”Why aren’t you taking action to kill him? Don’t tell me you can’t kill him?”

”I could kill him, but it would take too much time. I’ve been busy with Kasu’s matter recently. I finally have time now, but I’ve lost track of Akad’s location!”

For a Level 5 Sequence-class expert, wanting to hide and not be found was really quite simple!

Kasu, who had been quiet for a while, suddenly interjected.

”This man truly deserves to die. From such a close distance, I can sense that his body appears to be permeated with a mobile hell. Everywhere are the wailings and screams of the dead. The Lord says, ’The innocent should gain release, and the devils must forever sink into hell!’”

”I will personally purify him, Amen!”

After saying this, Kasu made the sign of the cross on his chest, then closed his eyes and began to mutter incomprehensible phrases—presumably some form of prayer.

Wen Yu curled his lip, unimpressed with Kasu’s sanctimonious pronouncements.

Wen Yu no longer held any hopes for these solitary Sequence-class individuals. In Wen Yu’s eyes, Kasu was no better than Akad.

Akad is a madman; Kasu is a self-righteous meddler who looks for trouble.

Whether it was a madman or a self-righteous meddler, both were types Wen Yu preferred to keep at arm’s length!

After a while, Akad finally stopped his actions and casually took his seat again. Perhaps he thought Fang Bai, sitting quietly without any expression, was too boring, or perhaps he felt he had avenged the loss of his more than five hundred lives.

Sensing that the biggest troublemaker in the room had finally quieted down, today’s absolute protagonist, Lin Haifeng, made his appearance!

Old Lin, dressed in a neat military uniform with countless badges adorning his shoulders, energetically walked up to the podium at the front. He nodded to the people below and, without further ado, outlined the general content of today’s meeting.

”The main purpose of inviting you all here today is to mediate some conflicts between our Earth Community and some Sequence-class experts, and regarding...”

A loud BANG echoed.

Before Lin Haifeng could finish, a bullet had already crashed into his head.

Akad calmly blew the smoke from the barrel of his gun and shrugged nonchalantly as he noticed Lin Haifeng looking back at him.

”Continue, I’m just messing around. Anyway, no one can die.”

Lin Haifeng lightly nodded his head, ignoring Akad’s ’joke,’ then continued, ”Regarding the Human Race Sequence-class hunting plan after the initiation of the demon plague, my view is...”

BANG!

Another bullet...

Qin Min, standing to the side, suppressed his anger and gritted his teeth. ”Are you done?” he snarled at Akad.

Responding to Qin Min was Akad’s continual gunfire.

Under these circumstances, Lin Haifeng naturally couldn’t pretend to be calm and carry on with his speech.

He gently adjusted his collar, scanned the many Sequence-class individuals in the hall, and then quickly walked up to Akad. He stared straight into Akad’s eyes, completely ignoring the Dual Guns that were still relentlessly firing.

Perhaps sensing that Lin Haifeng was utterly unfazed by his attacks, Akad raised an eyebrow, retracted his Dual Guns, and poked Fang Bai beside him. ”Your boss is here, aren’t you going to give up your seat? Get me something to drink while you’re at it.”

The way he spoke was casual, as if he considered Fang Bai his servant, as if this was his home.

Lin Haifeng gestured at Fang Bai, who immediately vacated his seat and stood to the side. Lin Haifeng sat down in Fang Bai’s place and extended his hand toward Akad.

”I am the current head of the Earth Community, Lin Haifeng. Pleased to meet you.”

SMACK!

With a crisp sound, Akad slapped Lin Haifeng’s extended hand away, then slowly leaned his head toward Lin Haifeng until their foreheads were pressing against each other.

The smell of blood in the meeting room grew stronger, and Akad’s killing intent surged unstoppably.

It was only after nearly a minute of intense staring that Akad finally leaned back in his chair, his killing intent completely receding. He said in a calm and casual tone,

”So it was you who sent these three to kill me?”

”Yes, it was me. The main purpose of today’s meeting is to resolve the conflict between us.”

”What? Conflict? There’s no conflict between us.”

Akad’s words left Lin Haifeng rather perplexed.

After a long pause, Lin Haifeng said with a smile, ”Well, if you think there is no conflict between us, that’s even better. Without conflict, we can discuss cooperation. That’s also the main reason for today’s meeting.”

”Hehehe...”

Fixing his gaze on Lin Haifeng, Akad slowly started laughing. His laughter became more intense, more thunderous. His narrow eyes, fixed on Lin Haifeng’s, glowed eerily, giving Lin Haifeng the unsettling feeling of being targeted by a venomous snake.

After a moment, Akad’s laughter finally subsided. He slowly licked his lips with his scarlet tongue, then stood up and walked onto the stage.

”Testing, testing.”

Akad slowly adjusted the microphone. Once he felt it was working properly, he cleared his throat. His deep, magnetic voice resonated.

”You all heard what was just said, right?”

”Some of you may not quite understand what happened. No worries, I’ll explain it to you.”

”Here’s what happened. I was spending the night in a shop in London when a bunch of clueless recruits walked in.”

”Unfortunately, that night, I’d engaged in some... recreational activities in the shop. Specifically, I killed a few people—maybe I went a bit overboard. I also ’played’ with some women. Whether I killed them before or after messing with them, I can’t recall. My memory isn’t the best, so I forgot to tidy up the crime scene... Anyway, my little activities undoubtedly pissed off those clueless recruits. Whew! A whole bunch of self-righteous soldiers came screaming and charging at me, yelling about ’justice’ and ’protecting the people,’ saying they wanted to kill me, this ’demon’! Fuck! I was scared shitless!”

Akad’s performance was quite vivid. The final curse he blurted out, combined with his expression and tone, made it seem as if he’d genuinely been terrified by the soldiers...

Yet, from the audience, Lin Haifeng’s gaze on Akad grew increasingly sharp.

Akad continued.

”I was scared, really. So, I killed them. No choice; if I didn’t kill them, I’d be killed. It’s just that my methods... well, they were a bit slow. Five people, and I spent twenty hours killing them... That truly was... a beautiful day!”

Akad closed his eyes, as if reminiscing about the screams and curses from that day. The sound seemed to send him into a state of ecstasy...

”But then, things took a turn. One of the soldiers managed to activate his communicator before I subdued him. I don’t know much about those high-tech gadgets, so Britain’s main military force surrounded me.”

”Same logic as before: if I didn’t kill them, they’d kill me. So, I started slaughtering. I got into the swing of it and just kept killing... and killing... and killing... Finally, I realized that quite a few people had died by my hand. How many was it?”

Akad looked at Lin Haifeng, as if questioning him for the exact number.

Lin Haifeng was silent for a long moment, then answered hoarsely, ”327,584 people!”

”Wrong! That’s only half of it!”
