Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 435: Chapter 49 Advancing Independents_2

It was very clear that Walter’s goal wasn’t just to aim for ranks like Sequence Number 3 or Sequence Number 4. The kid was obviously after Sequence Number 1. Glancing at Tang Haofei above, who still seemed relaxed, Wen Yu silently let out a heavy sigh.

The pressure was truly immense...

Before Walter and Kasu finished their match, the top ten of the Sequence once again underwent a significant shift.

The silver-haired elder challenged Lan Bo and easily emerged victorious. He then challenged Vincent, again winning with ease. Afterward, he challenged Qin Min.

This battle lasted somewhat longer. The elder found it difficult to win, as Qin Min seemed to possess an ability that greatly reduced negative status effects, significantly weakening the elder’s time-stop. Fortunately, Qin Min wasn’t completely immune.

Still, the elder managed to defeat Qin Min by a narrow margin, securing Sequence Number 5.

Lan Bo successfully challenged Vincent, taking Sequence Number 7, but he could advance no further.

It would be very difficult for Lan Bo to defeat Qin Min, who was ranked higher.

Then, Dugu Jian, at Sequence Number 10, was pulled into the Challenge Space.

The challenger was the beautiful woman with the painting board whom Wen Yu had noticed earlier.

As the challenge began, Dugu Jian, showing no inclination to be gentle with a beautiful woman, immediately drew his long sword and lunged toward her.

The blonde woman then took a painted scroll from her space ring.

On the scroll, a gigantic unicorn was depicted leisurely nibbling green grass. Its posture, the brushstrokes, and even the surrounding flowers and plants were so vivid they seemed to spring to life from the paper.

The blonde woman then gave the scroll a gentle shake...

Accompanied by a deafening roar of thunder, the unicorn from the scroll leaped out and charged ferociously at Dugu Jian!

It was an Early Stage Level 5 divine beast species!

After releasing the unicorn, the blonde woman seemed drained of all her energy. She bent over slightly, panting heavily for small gasps of air.

Dugu Jian, facing a divine beast that had leaped from a scroll, found the battle extremely arduous. After all, the species’ innate talent of a divine beast was exceptionally difficult to overcome, and Dugu Jian clearly lacked that kind of power.

Three minutes later, golden lightning enveloped Dugu Jian. Having sustained fatal injuries, he was declared defeated by the Dominator.

Dugu Jian, the military’s powerful expert, hadn’t even managed to hold onto Sequence Number 10!

The battle between Kasu and Walter concluded. Unsurprisingly, Walter defeated Kasu, successfully claiming Sequence Number 3.

Looking down at the youth below, who seemed as if he were made of water, a friendly smile touched the corners of Wen Yu’s mouth.

This Sequence Member-Ranking Battle isn’t a life-or-death struggle, after all. Even though I’m bound to fight Walter eventually, there’s no need for us to glare at each other like bitter enemies.

Walter, also aware of this, offered a somewhat reserved smile and nodded slightly at Wen Yu.

”Take a little break,” Wen Yu said. ”Wait for them to finish fighting, then you can challenge me.”

Hearing Wen Yu’s words, Walter hesitated for a moment but eventually nodded.

Although Walter had won several battles with overwhelming strength, the energy he had expended was by no means insignificant—especially in the fight against Akad. That battle had actually lasted for three whole days!

Speaking of Akad, Wen Yu looked down. Akad and Dugu Jian, originally Sequence Number 9 and Sequence Number 10 respectively, had vanished from the top ten rankings. Sequence Number 9 was now occupied by the woman with the painting board, and Sequence Number 10 was held by a heavily armored Western man whom Wen Yu had noticed earlier.

By now, half of the original top ten members had been replaced!

「The challenges continued.」

The silver-haired elder challenged Kasu, but Kasu proved to be a strong counter to him!

Kasu possessed a powerful Summoning Skill. The elder could immobilize Kasu, but he lacked the surplus energy to also control the white-winged Birdman Kasu summoned.

The battle concluded with Kasu’s victory. The silver-haired elder could only remain at Sequence Number 5, having also lost his qualification to challenge further.

The woman with the painting board challenged Vincent. Her divine beast unicorn shredded Vincent’s bandages. She succeeded and went on to challenge Lan Bo. As expected, Lan Bo was no match for the divine beast. Afterward, the woman continued, challenging Qin Min.

However, Qin Min’s strength was truly formidable. He exerted all his power to defeat the unicorn from the woman’s scroll. Covered in blood, he walked over to the exhausted woman and landed a heavy punch on her head.

The battle ended. The woman with the painting board was fixed at Sequence Number 7.

The Heavy Armored Knight also continued to challenge higher ranks. His combat style was bold and sweeping, quite imposing, but his strength was relatively weaker. After a fierce battle of three hundred rounds against Vincent, he was narrowly defeated. He remained at Sequence Number 10, having lost his qualification to challenge further.

Now that the challenges for the top ten Sequence positions had calmed, Wen Yu turned his attention to the two remaining individuals he had noticed earlier: the Daoist-robed elder and the youth in the leather jacket.

The Daoist-robed elder had, at some point, reached Sequence Number 13. He now sat there, furtively glancing around with no apparent intention of advancing further.

The youth in the leather jacket, however, was soaring up the Sequence ranks and had already secured Sequence Number 11.

Sensing the auras of these two, Wen Yu frowned slightly and looked up to ask Tang Haofei.
