Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 415: Chapter 37: Increasingly Difficult Plan_1

A beam of white light shot out from the skill upgrade scroll, flying directly into Cyclops’ body.

The dazzling white light flickered incessantly from Cyclops’ skull, turning its head into a gigantic bulb. Under the influence of this white light, Cyclops’ Mortal Combat began to change rapidly!

This was a force acting upon the soul.

After a while, the white light dissipated, signifying the completion of Cyclops’ Mortal Combat upgrade. Cyclops, having received the upgrading power, endured intense Spiritual Fluctuations. Its body swayed, its eyes rolled back, and it fainted.

Wen Yu checked Cyclops’ vital signs; they were very stable, proving Cyclops was not in any danger. Wen Yu casually returned Cyclops to the Soul Realm space and then began to observe the upgraded Mortal Combat.

After carefully reading the description of the upgraded Mortal Combat, a glint of ecstasy flashed in Wen Yu’s eyes.

This step was the right one!

Mortal Combat (S-class, Passive Ability): An unimaginable fighting will makes the host fearless and greatly weakens their sense of pain. As injuries worsen, the host’s basic physical attributes will increase exponentially, with no upper limit to this growth.

This was the previous description of Mortal Combat. The upgraded version, however, wasn’t just a simple enhancement of effects; it also gained two new attributes that could only be described as monstrously powerful!

Ultra Mortal Combat (S-Class, Passive Ability): An unimaginable fighting will makes the host fearless and greatly weakens their sense of pain. As injuries worsen, the host’s basic physical attributes will increase exponentially, with no upper limit to this growth. Once the host’s physical injuries reach their limit, Ultra Mortal Combat activates its second state: physical damage received by the host will be completely converted into Soul Impacts. At the same time, soul trauma caused by Soul Attack will still amplify the power of Ultra Mortal Combat. When the soul trauma reaches its limit, Ultra Mortal Combat activates its final state: for 10 seconds, the host becomes immune to any form of attack. (This is not absolute immunity, as no skill provides an absolute damage immunity effect! It is a relative immunity, similar to Invincible.) After these 10 seconds, the host enters a Near-death State and completely loses all combat capability.

The power of Ultra Mortal Combat was self-evident. When physical damage taken reached its limit, it would be completely converted into Psychic Attacks. When the spiritual damage from these Psychic Attacks reached its limit, the host would be virtually Invincible for 10 seconds. During these ten seconds, with the full physical enhancement from Ultra Mortal Combat, the lethality Cyclops could unleash would be absolutely terrifying!

Looking at the sleeping Cyclops in the Soul Realm space, Wen Yu sighed quietly.

The gap between ordinary mutant beasts and divine beasts was too great. The power of the Soul Master’s contract made Wen Yu regard Cyclops as family, and he would never willingly abandon it. Now with Ultra Mortal Combat, although Cyclops remained the weakest link in Wen Yu’s overall combat strength, it had at least caught up significantly!

After briefly simulating the combat effects Ultra Mortal Combat could produce, Wen Yu contemplated Cyclops’ future skill combinations and then strode out of the room.

Standing at the door of Room 32, Wen Yu gently knocked.

Soon, Yang Hong opened the door and invited Wen Yu into the room.

After taking a quick look at the layout of Yang Hong’s room, Wen Yu realized that the Dominator handled things in an extremely pragmatic way!

From the outside, these rooms provided for the Sequence members all appeared to be of similar size. However, their interiors utilized some form of spatial technology, meaning each room possessed a different amount of actual space.

Wen Yu’s room was at least five times larger than Yang Hong’s!

Yang Hong, perhaps sensing Wen Yu’s thoughts, gave an awkward chuckle and said directly, ”You haven’t seen the room for Sequence Number 100 yet. It’s practically a motel room—so small it’s suffocating. You even have to share a bathroom... Still, it’s better than nothing. Those outside the Sequence have to sleep on the streets.”

Wen Yu didn’t pursue that topic. He sat directly on the sofa, turned on the television, and glanced at the rules for the Sequence Member-Ranking Battle scrolling on the screen, all while making small talk with Yang Hong.

A few hours passed quickly.

...

”Shouldn’t we be going?” Yang Hong asked Wen Yu, looking at his wristwatch.

Wen Yu checked the time; nearly ten minutes had passed since the agreed-upon meeting time with Tang Haofei.

Only then did he rise, straighten his clothes, and leisurely head for the door.

Wen Yu’s reasoning was simple. Lin Haifeng wants to invite Sequence members, doesn’t he? He even had Tang Haofei personally invite me. That proves I might be an indispensable part of his plans. Plus, I’m currently the most powerful expert outside the military system, not to mention my considerable resentment towards Lin Haifeng. Arriving a little late would be a small power play against him, and I’m more than willing to do it—even if it is a bit petty.

Opening the door and stepping into the hallway, Wen Yu silently commanded in his mind, Teleport.

A white light flashed, and Wen Yu’s figure instantly appeared in the central plaza of Eternal Sky City.

...

The central plaza of Eternal Sky City was the same place Wen Yu had first appeared when he entered the treasure land for the Sequence Member-Ranking Battle.

The plaza was quite spacious. Especially after the majority of the Level 4 professionists had been eliminated in the challenge matches, the area seemed even more deserted. Thousands of tents were sparsely scattered across the central plaza, like so many grains of sand strewn across a desert.
