Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 439: Chapter 52 Reflections on Battle Mode (Extra Update for Xu Shunde’s Generous Reward!) _1

The space in the challenge ring was not small, but for these two super powerhouses, it really was not considered large.

Dark clouds, appearing as if from nowhere, began to fill the sky—an omen of Walter’s Rainstorm Technique activation. Simultaneously, seeing that the Water Droplet Bomb had been ineffective, Walter instantly changed tactics. Layers upon layers of Water Light Barrier quickly enveloped him, turning him into a giant water orb.

Then, it started to rain.

The downpour not only replenished Walter’s strength but also provided him with a vast amount of resources for launching his abilities—after all, squeezing water droplets from one’s body required consuming its water content.

Then, Walter, enveloped in a large mass of Water Light Barrier, promptly activated his ability.

Water Droplet Bomb!

In this environment, thick with water vapor and a torrential downpour, one could only imagine the destructive force that a massive number of water droplet explosions could produce!

Unfortunately, events did not unfold as Walter had expected!

The moment Walter triggered the Water Droplet Bomb, Wen Yu, who had been surrounded by the rain, suddenly disappeared. A violent explosion sounded in the next second, but the Water Droplet Bomb was completely in vain! This was because the giant figure of the Pitch-dark Demon Lord had already appeared before Walter.

Instantaneous Movement in the Netherworld was a fairly simple capability!

At the same time, Wen Yu directly changed the rules within the Netherworld, instantly sealing off Walter’s ability to move.

In the next moment, a massive battle saber conjured from darkness slashed directly down at Walter!

The Pitch-Black Warblade instantly shattered over a dozen layers of Water Light Barriers on Walter, looking as if it was about to strike his body directly. Only then did Walter barely manage to react!

Until now, Walter had always relied on his powerful Eternal Spring and Water Droplet Bomb abilities to combat enemies. His style of fighting amidst horrific explosions could be considered almost invincible. Unfortunately, Walter had now finally encountered abilities that countered his own—Instantaneous Movement combined with a restraining-like capability and the extreme destructive power of the Pitch-dark Demon Lord!

This was equivalent to a face-off between a Berserker and a Mage, with the Mage completely immobilized.

Before Walter could cast a Water Light Barrier on himself, a pitch-black figure sprang up behind him—it was Faceless!

The dark power gathered in Faceless’s hands formed into a sharp military spike, burning with pitch-black Devil Flame. It instantly pierced through Walter’s few remaining Water Light Barriers and plunged directly into his body!

The black flames blazed wildly. Against Walter’s pure Water Element body, the burning damage was not significant, but the anguish brought about by the Soul Strike made Walter increasingly terrified.

I can’t win, I can’t run... What do I do?!

It had to be said that while Walter was very powerful, his combat experience and mental fortitude were indeed his weak points.

Wen Yu, on the other hand, would definitely not show mercy simply because of Walter’s panic and loss of composure.

Faceless held the military spike, continuously tearing holes in the Water Light Barrier on Walter’s body, while Wen Yu himself repeatedly slashed his battle saber against the Water Light Barrier Walter conjured.

Then, a slender, sharp stream of water shot out from Walter’s fingertips, swiftly cutting across the bodies of the Pitch-dark Demon Lord and Faceless.

But sadly, the dislimning ability rendered Walter’s attack futile!

The battle at hand had become a one-sided beating. The terrifying strength of the Pitch-dark Demon Lord filled all external spectators with oppression and fear—everyone except Tang Haofei.

At that moment, Tang Haofei was smiling broadly as he stared down at the Pitch-dark Demon Lord who was battering Walter. The gleam in his eyes grew increasingly brighter. After a while, Tang Haofei chuckled lightly and mumbled to himself, ”Not enough, this power... it’s still not enough...”

Of course, Wen Yu was unaware of the reactions from the people above, as he had already focused all his energy on the battle before him.

Although from an outsider’s point of view his advantage was very clear, Walter was definitely not an opponent who could be easily defeated!

Walter dared not use the Water Droplet Bomb again. Wen Yu and Faceless were simply too close; at this distance, and coupled with the fact that Wen Yu and Faceless also had abilities similar to an elemental body, using a Water Droplet Bomb would be an act of injuring the enemy by a thousand while losing eight hundred oneself!

However, the power of Walter’s Water Jet, after being amplified by the Eternal Spring, was still terrifyingly potent! Ten Water Jets, like ten ceaseless lasers, continuously cut towards Wen Yu and Faceless. The cutting force and Water-element damage capability they contained made Wen Yu dare not underestimate them; he could only use dislimning to dodge quickly.

At the same time, Walter’s defensive power and recovery ability also could not be underestimated.

The Water Light Barrier provided Walter with continuous defensive capability, and in addition, torrential rain poured down from above. The Rainstorm Technique provided Walter with an extremely strong recovery effect. This was a brutal beating for Walter, but for Wen Yu, was this not also like being trapped in a deep quagmire?

After a while, as if he had thought of something, Wen Yu instantly had a plan to defeat Walter!

He swung his battle saber with all his strength, and simultaneously, Faceless, behind Walter, obeyed Wen Yu’s command and they launched their most powerful attacks in unison!

The Water Light Barrier, already tottering under the combined assault of Wen Yu and Faceless, was destroyed by Wen Yu in an instant. The next second, two rays of light shone from the eye region of the Pitch-dark Demon Lord.

The light shone into Walter’s eyes, causing him to freeze for a moment.

Night Eyes!

In a short period, Wen Yu had switched the skill enhanced by his 5th Soul Realm from Netherworld to Night Eyes.

Soon afterward, the bewildering effect of Night Eyes activated!

Without moonlight, Night Eyes indeed lacked the ability to hypnotize and create illusions. However, after Wen Yu was enhanced by Dragon Blood Amplification, it forcibly boosted the effect of Night Eyes, immediately causing Walter a slight hesitation—the effect was not potent, merely a moment of daze lasting less than a second!

But that was enough!

The next moment, the Pitch-Black Warblade in Wen Yu’s hand slashed directly across Walter’s neck, and dark power invaded. The military spike in Faceless’s hand, burning with Devil Flame, simultaneously pierced Walter’s heart area.

The battle ended!

By the time Wen Yu teleported back to his seat, he let out a small sigh. At the same time, he mentally reviewed this combat method he had previously overlooked.

All along, Wen Yu had relied on absolute force to crush his enemies. But today, he encountered Walter, an opponent whose strength was not far from his own. If he were to follow his usual combat patterns, he would still have won in the end, but he had no idea how much physical and mental energy he would have consumed.

Switching from Netherworld to Night Eyes, a simple action that for Wen Yu was merely a matter of a single thought, left Walter unable to react. Perhaps when the match ended, Walter still thought he was bound in place by the Netherworld’s power, unable to move an inch.

And merely replacing one simple skill—Netherworld with Night Eyes—greatly shortened the battle’s duration. This undoubtedly made Wen Yu understand that while skill level is very important, the flexible application of skills is also crucial. Sometimes, the effects produced by low-level skills can be more effective than high-level skills!

Moreover, from this battle, Wen Yu also gained a vague idea about his own skills, including those of his soul pets.

Constantly switching skills back and forth would make his fighting capabilities more unpredictable, rendering his combat methods more complex!

The ability of Soul Realm Empowerment had no cooldown limit. Theoretically, Wen Yu had dozens of choices in a single battle, and as his soul pets increased in the future, this number might even reach hundreds or even thousands! Using unceasing skill switching to achieve various tactical objectives—this type of combat method would inevitably be an aspect Wen Yu would need to focus on contemplating in the future!

Thinking of this, Wen Yu squinted, carefully considering his own skill combinations, striving to find more inspiration in this area to face the upcoming battles!

That’s right; with two super gatekeepers like Qin Tian and Walter, Wen Yu had decided to compete with Tang Haofei for the position of Sequence Number 1!
