Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 420: Chapter 40: Lobbying and Anti-hunting! (For you can call me Brother Ma, 50000 bonus update 2/5) _1

”Will you join us or not?”

Hearing Tang Haofei’s invitation, Wen Yu shook his head directly.

Truth be told, in Wen Yu’s eyes, Akad was nothing but a lunatic. What good would having Esoteric Level skills do? What good would it do to turn those he killed into his own slaves? Wen Yu’s own strength was undoubtedly stronger than Akad’s. Even Wen Yu hadn’t dared to challenge the whole world alone, so how could Akad be so arrogant just because of his Esoteric Level abilities? Did they not see how Akad was chased by Qin Min, Fang Bai, and Michael, like a rabbit run amok?

However, it had to be said that a skill similar to the Netherworld could indeed gradually consume living humans, causing his power to increase and followers to multiply—since Akad was only one man, he held advantages whether it came to fighting or running. Of course, this was just theory. In practical terms, it was an almost impossible goal to achieve—mainly because Akad was too weak. There might be a slim chance for Wen Yu though!

It could only be said that lunatics do have a wide range of thought...

As for teaming up to get rid of this big trouble—sorry, Wen Yu didn’t consider Akad a threat. If Akad dared to bother him, he would definitely teach him a lesson.

After that farce, Lin Haifeng’s face was a bit unsightly too. He sat in the place once occupied by Fang Bai, thought for a while, as if making some kind of decision, whispered a few words to Fang Bai, then walked back onto the podium.

”Ladies and gentlemen! Sorry for the scene you just witnessed. Please do not worry about Akad’s threat; I have already made some contingency plans to deal with him shortly. Please be assured.”

After finishing, Lin Haifeng purposely waited a moment, allowing the crowd to whisper amongst themselves before continuing.

”My speech was interrupted by Akad earlier, so let me repeat it. The primary goal of organizing this meeting today is to ease the tensions between the military power and individual powerful experts.

”Earlier, the Earth Community’s military had invited you, the sequence members, several times, and during this process, we have had our ups and downs.”

As Lin Haifeng stated this, he deliberately glanced at Wen Yu, who remained expressionless, and continued, ”We have mostly resolved the disputes we had with you. Otherwise, you wouldn’t have attended this meeting. I would like to promise you, the sequence members here, that starting from today, the military will not use any means to court or bind the Sequence-class experts! This is a promise I, Lin Haifeng, made on behalf of the Earth Community!”

The representatives of the Earth Community in the back immediately burst into applause.

Unfortunately, those deeply offended by Lin Haifeng didn’t give a damn about his speech. Whether a promise held any value depended on who made it. And a promise made by Lin Haifeng? Wen Yu wouldn’t buy it!

After the applause quieted down, Lin Haifeng continued, ”Of course, in view of the impending demon plague, we now need to gather all our strength for a tough battle with the Demon Tribe! Therefore, we, the Earth Community, sincerely hope and look forward to the participation of the sequence members!

”Here, I want to extend an invitation to all the sequence members. We sincerely invite you to join the Earth Community system. Of course, I am not going to talk about fighting for all of mankind or anything like that now. What I’m about to present are the benefits we can offer. The treatment for the Sequence-class experts originally affiliated with the military will be the same as the terms I’m about to announce!”

At this, Lin Haifeng gestured, and a number of military men came up from the back of the venue, each holding a beautifully printed booklet to be distributed to every one of the Sequence-class experts present.

Wen Yu took the booklet, then absentmindedly passed it to Tang Haofei.

Wen Yu didn’t even want to look at it, and both Tang Haofei and Lin Haifeng naturally knew what Wen Yu was thinking, so they both turned a blind eye to it.

At the time when most of the attendees were engrossed in whispering conversations over the pamphlets, Lin Haifeng spoke up again.

”Given the ongoing Sequence Member-Ranking Battle, the sequences at the lower end might not be able to maintain their status. This is not a joke. You all should be aware of the likelihood of this happening. In view of this, any sequence that has been inducted into the Earth Community system before the ranking battle will receive benefits according to its sequence identity, regardless of whether the sequence identity is snatched by someone else!”

Lin Haifeng’s words were indeed hefty!

The current sequence ranking is quite artificial. Wen Yu himself estimated that by the end of the Sequence Member-Ranking Battle, more than fifty percent of the sequence numbers would have a new owner. Even the powerful experts in the top ten sequences could not rule out being replaced—after all, no one knew if there were extremely powerful professionists who had not entered a treasure land with a Treasure Land Protector yet!

Upon hearing this news, the sequences at the bottom were a bit excited.

After all, for sequences with lower rankings, if they were kicked out of the sequence, they would at most revert to being just a slightly stronger professionist. It’s always good to have an additional layer of protection. Besides, the conditions laid down by the military were indeed very generous.

In the blink of an eye, the entire venue became as noisy as a marketplace—sequence experts may be strong, but there was no knowing how high their quality was.

More diplomatically, Lin Haifeng, in his capacity as the supreme leader of the Earth Community, was walking all over the venue, answering questions from time to time.

Half an hour ticked away instantly.

With a broad smile, Lin Haifeng agreed on a time for his next meeting with Sequence Number 72 and strode back to the podium cheerily.

In total, there were only 14 Sequence-class experts not under the control of the Earth Community! Of course, it’s impossible to discern who belonged to the military among those present at this assembly—after all, there’s a creature called a ”plant”!

And just now, these ”plants” had come into play!

Just now, Lin Haifeng had a total of 18 conversations with different sequences, receiving join requests from 12 of them. Eight of these requests came from the plants...

Four out of the 14 sequences not with the Earth Community now joined Lin Haifeng’s team. Even though these four were likely to be eliminated with eighty percent certainty, they were still a considerable gain.

When paired with the sequences currently owned by the Earth Community, without exaggeration, Lin Haifeng has managed to consolidate over ninety percent of the entire human forces within half a year after the apocalypse!

The difficulties and dangers encountered along the way are beyond description. However, in another sense, Lin Haifeng’s strategies and audacity are undoubtedly top-notch!

On the stage, Lin Haifeng quickly composed himself before speaking again.

”Next, we will discuss another matter, which is also the fundamental reason why Sequence Number 1 and I initiated this Sequence Member-Ranking Battle.

”The Human Race Sequence Hunting Plan!”

Lin Haifeng paused a bit at this point before continuing.

”Now, I suppose there’s no one who is not aware of this, since the Dominator has even included it in the handbook. My original intention was to set a trap for the Demon Tribe’s Hunting Group, considering they only target the top ten ranked sequences of the Human Race!”

After listening to Lin Haifeng’s words, Wen Yu at once understood his plan. At the same time, within a short period, he completely figured out the calculation between Tang Haofei and Lin Haifeng!

The theory behind this is simple: the Demon Tribe’s Hunting Group only targets the top ten strongest sequences. Therefore, once they Manipulate the majority of sequences, they can adjust the sequence rankings through the Sequence Member-Ranking Battle. They can arrange for ten weaklings to replace the current top ten Human Race sequences, and then they can gather together to lure the Hunting Group... The location is not important, and Lin Haifeng would not feel pity if these poor souls died. They could use either nuclear bombs or traps, whatever they could employ to obliterate the attackers. In this way, the Hunting Group would themselves become the hunted!

Under normal circumstances, such a scenario would not happen. However, due to Lin Haifeng, the Human Race was united even before the demon plague’s invasion! Many leading sequences were gathered under Lin Haifeng’s control. Not to exaggerate, Lin Haifeng himself indeed has the authorization to Manipulate the Sequence Member-Ranking Battle!
