Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 413: Chapter 36 Qualification Battle and Strengthening_1

PS: There was a bug in yesterday’s Chapter, which has now been fixed after being pointed out by readers. The corrected detail can be found in the previous Chapter. It’s about how even if a Sequence member fails the challenge, they won’t be transported out of the treasure land until it ends. However, they still only have one chance if they fail the challenge. Sorry... things have been extremely busy recently, and some bugs slipped through. Hopefully, I can wrap things up in the next day or two, then I’ll focus on adding more Chapters and providing update bursts.

”You’re here for Wen Yu?”

There was no breath, no heartbeat. Had it not been for the sudden voice, Yang Hong would never have known someone was standing behind him.

When he turned around abruptly, a figure was leaning against Door No.1, grinning at him.

Sequence Number 1, Tang Haofei.

Yang Hong swallowed hard, then nodded slightly.

Tang Haofei advanced two steps, smiling at Yang Hong. ”Together, together.”

The next second, the door opened, and Wen Yu appeared behind it.

In the room, Yang Hong proactively went to the kitchen to prepare some beverages. Wen Yu remained seated, flipping through the manual in his hand once more.

And Sequence Number 1—Tang Haofei—cradled a freshly squeezed juice, leisurely sipping from a straw while sizing up Wen Yu, his crossed legs bouncing.

The entire room fell into an eerily awkward atmosphere.

After ten minutes...

Yang Hong still hadn’t emerged from the kitchen. Meanwhile, Wen Yu, unable to bear Tang Haofei’s gaze any longer, finally slammed his hand down on the table and spread his palms towards Tang Haofei in a gesture of exasperation.

”What are you here for?”

Tang Haofei shrugged. ”Just dropped by because I was bored. Plus, you’re more hospitable than I thought, or you wouldn’t have let me in.”

These treasure land rooms, prepared for Sequence members, had excellent security measures. At least a Level 5 professionist like Tang Haofei would not have been able to barge in. The reason he was leisurely sipping juice in Wen Yu’s room was evidently because Wen Yu had allowed it.

As for Wen Yu’s motive—there was none. Professionists in the treasure land couldn’t attack each other, so there was no need to guard against a knife in the back. Interacting with Sequence Number 1 was a no-lose situation.

Unfortunately, Wen Yu underestimated one thing.

Tang Haofei was evidently more discourteous than Wen Yu had imagined. Once inside Wen Yu’s room, he made himself at home, openly sizing up his host and exuding a constant, unruly vibe.

”Go on, what do you want from me?”

”Nothing really. Just felt bored in my own room and decided to visit you. Oh, secretary, could I have another juice?”

”At your service, sir...”

Wen Yu’s AI secretary, also a blatant opportunist, promptly betrayed its recently acknowledged master in front of someone with higher authority, Sequence Number 1.

Well, a perfect case of the dove taking over the magpie’s nest...

Wen Yu suddenly regretted letting this guy in.

Wen Yu casually chatted with Tang Haofei about various topics. Tang Haofei, an adept conversationalist, could always carry on the conversation, no matter what Wen Yu brought up, yet he skillfully avoided revealing any useful information.

This made Wen Yu realize that Tang Haofei wasn’t just terrifyingly strong, but also sharp-minded.

After another ten minutes, Yang Hong finally came out of the kitchen and handed Wen Yu and Tang Haofei some drinks and snacks.

Then, the television screen changed, and the challenge qualification match began.

The qualification challenge was, simply put, a process designed to filter out the multitude of weaker participants. If any professionist Level 4 or above could challenge Sequence Numbers 91 to 100, those ten Sequence members would likely have to fight tens of thousands of battles each. Even if the Dominator completely restored their physical state after every battle, the mental strain was not so easily dismissed.

At first, the television screen showed a panoramic view of the Solon Arena.

At this moment, as a giant white light flared, countless Level 4 professionists strolling through the Eternal Sky City received notifications.

”Please proceed to the Solon Arena in the city center to participate in the challenge qualification match.”

Then, the image on the television screen started zooming out continuously until it displayed a complete view of the Eternal Sky City.

”Wow, the Dominator must have hired a professional photographer. Look at how good that filming angle is,” Tang Haofei commented, one hand holding his juice and the other a cookie, still muttering.

”By the way, I haven’t asked you yet, do you intend to challenge me later? According to the rules, you are my gatekeeper.”

Tang Haofei said it casually, without even glancing at Wen Yu, his gaze fixed on the television screen.

Wen Yu shook his head without hesitation.

A deep sigh echoed in the room. It wasn’t clear what Tang Haofei was sighing about...

Soon, the image on the screen changed. Beneath the panoramic view of Eternal Sky City, countless professionists, appearing as tiny black dots, swarmed towards the Solon Arena.

Afterward, the television screen quickly switched to an internal view of the Solon Arena.

Innumerable dimensional spaces of various sizes appeared, densely packed and dazzling Wen Yu, Yang Hong, and Tang Haofei.

Every dimensional space was hosting a battle—this was why, as stated in the rules, the Solon Arena could accommodate a hundred thousand battles simultaneously.

The AI secretary then emitted a friendly prompt tone, ”Would you like to switch to single-match observation mode?”
