Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 899: Chapter 5: Massive Transformations

”Hahaha, I can finally leave the Newbie Village!”

I am the Big Muscle Dominator, wasted no time, spread ape-like arms wide, with the six-barreled Vulcan cannon on them blazing, shooting a big wave of bullets into the sky.

”It’s giveaway time, brothers and sisters, each person is getting a hundred limited romantic action films, remember to accept them on your brain-machine!”

”I want to leave too, I want to pilot a starship!” A player who had just reached Level 20 looked at the three starships docked in the distance with a look of envy, jealousy, and resentment.

”It’s not about affording a spaceship, but staying here offers better value. Haven’t you seen the system announcements? This planet is about to reform, and then various aliens and alien influences will descend, no need to go out.”

”Staying on the planet is so much better, right, buddies.”

”Yeah, yeah.”

”Sorry, I get motion sickness, can’t handle spaceships in my lifetime.”

”Be careful, such a big ship might ram into a fixed star.”

”I heard there are a lot of star thieves out in deep space.”

A group of little players murmured, looking carefree, but their glinting eyes and twitching lips still betrayed their inner excitement.

”I heard the new map opens the Xp system,” a passing high-end player suddenly mentioned.

Just that one sentence broke the defenses of the spectators.

”Ahhhhh, I want to go, I want to board a ship, I want to go to the cosmos!”

”Take me with you, boss, I can sell my... dignity.”

”I can sell my personality.”

”Get lost, I have thousands of virtual personalities stored, why do I need your crappy one,” a high-end player mercilessly pushed away the small player’s hand and boarded a starship.

There were five starships in total, besides the Great Curved Saber, the main ship, and one converted industrial escort ship, the remaining three ships were filled with players.

This time, the players prepared to follow numbered 300,000, almost encompassing all high-end players on the planet.

But even for high-end players, facing these Cybertron battleships, they still looked like bumpkins entering the city, gawking and touching everywhere.

”Wow, what a gigantic ship cannon!”

Through the transparent space window, looking at the menacing onboard energy cannon outside, Baozi marveled at how much money it would cost to fire a single shot.

Playing this definitely beats playing with an Italian cannon.

Influenced by Cybertron’s style, the style of these four escort ships was rough and ferocious, with lengths reaching tens of thousands of meters, even among starships, such massive ships are rare, but considering those living inside are mechanical lives nearly a hundred meters tall, such large starships are understandable.

However, when the players found out that a hundred people shared one large bunkroom, they still erupted in protests.

”Damn, a hundred people per bunk? What kind of dirty spaceship is this, we’re not like stowaways!”

”Yeah, yeah, strong protest!”

”I want a single room, if not, I can modify a single room myself,” a player with a mechanical repair profession appealed.

”Proposal rejected, currently all efforts from Du Gao Technology are focused on converting escort ships into industrial ships, accommodations are basic, we apologize. In the future, we will improve the internal self-circulatory system of the starship to serve players better,”

The chesty onboard AI coldly rejected the players’ protests.

”Of course, you can also earn living points by participating in ship construction and repair, these can be exchanged for various conveniences onboard the ship.”

Originally complaining about the living conditions, the players immediately calmed down and understood.

Turns out it’s a construction-based gameplay, why didn’t you say so earlier, they excitedly rolled up their sleeves, looking around keenly, emanating the aura of renovation workers.

Little A, now the shipboard AI, Big A, remained silent for a while before speaking again.

”Players, please line up in order for the final task rewards.”

Soon, a long line formed aboard the starship.

Soon, the player at the front entered a seemingly ordinary spark room, under the influence of anti-gravity sensors, this player soon floated in the air.

’Mechanical Transformation, Prosthetic Transformation, or maybe advanced surgery?’

The player was guessing wildly, suddenly a blur, and in a trance, as if seeing thousands of himself filling the entire room in various forms, but the illusion quickly faded. Just as the player continued to ponder how to enhance, the AI voice beeped.

”Transformation complete, please exit promptly.”

”That’s it? But I haven’t even started--”

The player blurted out but then paused.

This game is made with remarkable realism, so real that every tiny sensation of level-up is simulated 100%, and now, this player feels boundless power surging through, feeling even more powerful than leveling up ten times at once, he puzzledly opened the player panel, exclaiming immediately.

[You have been parasitized by ▆▆▆, attributes +50 for all five, skills gain +30%]

[You’ve been ▆▆▆ parasitized, Biological Energy +10,000 points]

[You’ve been ▆▆▆ parasitized, obtained ’Second Life’]

[Your latent genes have been enhanced, bloodline potential further awakened]

The player looked down and finally realized his right arm had become crimson and large, with fingertips fierce and nails curved like black hooks, resembling some kind of mythical creature.

He recalled that some time ago, he bought an advanced Biological Chip from the Black Market for implantation. Since Black Market items are essentially shady products, the surgery predictably failed; the chip wasn’t removed and was stuck behind his neck, with a noticeable bump when touched.

But now the bump was gone and replaced by a ’Qilin Arm.’ This arm felt as though it could tear through steel, and its appearance—

”Damn, this is so cool!!”

Not just one player received an exaggerated transformation. Besides the godlike effect of ’Second Life,’ many players had certain Attributes, like this guy, dramatically enhanced, with combat power directly multiplied.

Over on the game forum, one player after another began showing off their Attribute Panels, prompting a wave of groans and wails.

Since the players in the Mechanical Split Star map were the first player group to step into the Cosmos, onlookers even from other maps joined in, predominantly those from the different planets’ Cyber Test Fields.

No matter which map the players were from, seeing these enhanced Attribute Bars couldn’t help but exclaim ”Holy crap” as a starting phrase.

”Holy crap, what kind of ridiculous boost is this? What did you offer to the GM from Mechanical Split Star, your souls?”

”Mechanical Split Star, Mechanical Split Star, even the chickens are split. Don’t you know what’s been offered?”

”But this isn’t scientific!”

”This is a Hell-level Task, idiots from outside wouldn’t get it,” a Mechanical Split Star player retorted sarcastically.

Many players momentarily fell silent, but a lot were puzzled; a Hell-level Task that could provide such phenomenal boosts for 300,000 task participants—what kind of hell is this? Or is it the hell of the bystanders?

However, soon enough another post exploded on the forum, even players from Mechanical Split Star began to envy and resent.

The reason was simple—a player’s reward transformation had yielded an S-Level bloodline.

S-Level bloodline - Qilin Arm!

”Such good luck, a Luck God, maybe.”

At this moment, Gao Gong hovered in the atmosphere, his gaze falling on five small black dots below, seemingly transcending layers of space, witnessing the excited players.

In his eyes, the players’ current appearance seemed quite Cthulhu-like.

Countless transparent worms crawled into their skin, gnawing at flesh, tendons, and bones, and then dividing more Memory Worms from cerebral pulp, eventually transforming completely into humanoid Memory Worms.

Having ravaged 300,000 players, the enormous worm surrounding the planet became smaller and smaller, eventually only one-tenth its original size, head and tail connected, looping around the entire planet like the previous radiation layer.

”I’ve considered it, and I’ll absorb this part myself—forget Du Gao Technology’s members.”

”Didn’t expect you to actually care for your employees,” came a surprised voice from the Deep Net in Gao Gong’s ears.

”The main focus isn’t really that.”

”Then what is it for?”

”Civilization Ascension.”

The Deep Net quickly understood, if the upper members of a civilization all possess the bloodline of Memory Worms, then during Civilization Ascension, the Ascension Bloodline could become influenced and turn into the Insect Race. This influence is irreversible.

”Alright then, if you can handle it.”

An ambiguous voice of breath reached Gao Gong’s ears.

Gao Gong did not respond but instead entered Fusion Mode.

Soon, the last Memory Worm vanished amidst endless blood-red light.

Opening the System Panel showed no change in Attribute enhancement, likely because the ’Sea of Life’ is rather advanced, and merely one-tenth of Tier 5 Bloodline can’t be upgraded for now.

Nonetheless, Gao Gong felt his originally abundant Cosmic Bloodline growing even more profound.

From a cosmic perspective, Cosmic Life isn’t the endpoint, but the starting point for Carbon-Based Species evolutionary progress through constant absorption and updating of various Cosmic Bloodlines.

The fearsome reputation of Carbon-Based Species was birthed through this evolutionary update cycle, behind which lies the wails of countless wisdom species.

”Boss,” Gao Gong’s ear, through a nano-grade communication device, beeped with the communication channel’s voice—it was Qin Zhenzi’s voice.

”There’s a spaceship in outer space sending us signals, requesting to dock at our temporary port.”

”Shouldn’t this be notified to Director Du?” Gao Gong casually replied.

”Uh, President Du’s intention is for you to personally handle this matter.”

Gao Gong paused for a moment, quickly reflecting, his expression turning nuanced, and his form swiftly vanished from where he stood.

An hour later, a spaceship slowly descended; it looked just like a big white egg and those familiar would recognize it as the product of Bionic Man technology.
