Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 886: Chapter 54: The Great Blackout

The sky was covered with rolling dark clouds, resembling doomsday. Within every layer of the network cloud, data fluctuated rapidly. Antivirus data resembling light screens descended from the sky now and then, like rainbows. More and more data engulfed the sea, the land, the new Mechanical City, and even the memory storage systems of every electronic brain.

”Antivirus, antivirus, target Mr. G.”

A brain-machine user murmured to themselves and then, as if receiving a command, began a rapid pursuit. During the chase, sunglasses grew from the corners of their eyes, and their outerwear transformed into a black suit.

On the streets, besides the men in black suits, there were also those in red suits, purple suits, and white suits. These individuals continuously moved in and out, entering the real world from a virtual node and then stepping into new nodes, seemingly searching for something.

Soon, however, a Cloud Wing Assassin’s expression changed. Looking up, they didn’t know when the walls of the Mechanical City started to rise continuously. Countless codes gathered upwards, quickly towering above the cloud level and encasing one specific cloud among them. The city then completely sealed itself and began sinking with a rumbling sound. Many Cyber Killers tried to break through, but faced with the Planet Firewall level ”Wall of Code,” they were utterly helpless. Even the top-tier Cloud Wing Assassin found their cloud-based database in the Mother City disconnected.

This coded city kept sinking and sinking, piercing through the surface, passing the mantle, and reaching the Earth’s core. In the rolling heat of the Earth’s core, the signals turned to ashes and were annihilated. A large number of Cyber Killers, unable to find an escape route, were engulfed by the fiery tongues of magma. Their bodies burned into electronic code, and then the code collapsed into raw data, causing both the entire city and the data to vanish into the Earth’s core.

This level of data transfer was beyond immediate tactics of such scale; it required at least a Level 3 civilization capable of covering the entire star system network to achieve it.

However, under Gao Gong’s manipulation, the Planet Host’s computational power was driven to the limit, forming one Virtual Mechanical City after another, which then descended.

Earlier, to mobilize players, Gao Gong directly issued over a dozen advanced tasks, which completely drained his Alliance Experience and even his previously stored personal experience.

But now, with Gao Gong’s rampant monster slaying, the lost experience began to soar again, even causing his personal experience to break through 100 billion, reaching the level of Alliance Experience.

Five-star General MacArthur once said, ”Give me a lever long enough, and I shall move the Earth.” Now, the Planet Host ”Deep Net” was that lever. By leveraging it, Gao Gong could fiercely unleash his methods from his past life, likely even digging deeper into the Planet Host’s performance potential than the Deep Net itself.

In Gao Gong’s eyes at this moment, the entire planet transformed into a circular data network. Within this network, every intruding foreign signal was a Cyber Killer. With a casual wave, these killers seemed to step into a data maze, eventually all converging into a trap. The trap sank, falling into the Star Core Recycling Station. ”Star Core” wasn’t a physical star core but a giant star core model constructed by Gao Gong, with all the parameters of a physical star core.

This technique, in the cosmos, was known as ’planet-level data simulation.’ In his past life, Gao Gong didn’t use it until completing Civilization Ascension and becoming a Level 4 Civilization Leader. But now, he had no scruples.

Seeing that the planet’s most powerful ”Cyber Firewall” couldn’t capture Gao Gong, the Electronic Brain Ghost acted without hesitation. With a gentle wave of her hand, layer upon layer of the Cyber Tide came rushing forward, merging with the Deep Net as Gao Gong continued to flicker, dodging wave after wave of Memory Waves in a manner no less than Gao Yuanyuan’s.

As for the worms and butterflies erupting from the Memory Waves, Gao Gong didn’t care at all. In fact, large mouths would even squeeze out from his skin to devour these Memory Worms, strengthening himself.

Everyone has a shadow. At this moment, Gao Gong’s shadow had completely abandoned human form, transforming into a worm shadow covering the entire planet.

Excluding the Cyber Tide’s enhancement, in this state, Gao Gong was the most powerful conscious entity within the Memory Mother.

Gao Gong’s previous preparations were not to destroy the Memory Mother but to become a part of it while preserving his own Divine Wisdom. Only this way would the battle transform into an internal conflict, which wouldn’t trigger the Memory Mother’s body’s backlash.

However, Gao Gong gradually noticed that as each wave passed, the original material, whether information level or physical level, would disappear, replaced by a dense mass of electronic skulls, many wearing Virtual Helmets.

The Brain-Machine Plan nurtured Electronic Brain Ghosts, and now, the authority of the Electronic Brain Ghost further expanded, even encompassing users with Virtual Helmets within her ”brain-machine domain.”

Suddenly, Gao Gong’s mind stirred. For a moment, the stars seemed to spin, forming streams of light and code, executing and retracting commands. He suddenly turned around, his hand covering the ”Wall of Code” grasped another pale little hand.

He looked at the assailant, a ghastly pale girl who looked strikingly like ”Gao Yuanyuan.”

The girl suddenly smiled at him eerily as the Rewind System activated.

With each wave that crashed, the original material turned into a dense mass of electronic skulls.

Standing on a virtual level, Gao Gong pointed a finger, and a Virtual Mechanical City sank down.

The Electronic Brain Ghost returned behind him, her ghastly pale hand reaching for his neck, but this time, the warning code command didn’t trigger.

This not only includes the power of the Rewind System, but also the strength of the Destruction Intelligence.

’Gao Yuanyuan’ crushed Gao Gong’s head as expected.

The headless body swayed slightly but did not shatter into countless memory worms as ’Gao Yuanyuan’ anticipated. Instead, a large worm egg bulged at the gap where the head was missing, and as the slime on the surface splattered, a fresh human head emerged from it.

Both their eyes simultaneously emitted a ghostly light.

In ’Gao Yuanyuan’s’ view, the current Gao Gong was already a human form made up of countless memory worms. The worms on the head looked fresh and tender, with even a few butterflies fluttering around the head.

Having already become a memory worm, a blown-up head would naturally have no effect.

In Gao Gong’s view, the ’Gao Yuanyuan’ in front of him was a vast electronic brain ocean composed of countless skull heads, with numerous worms crawling through the hollow eyes, and dense virtual butterflies on the head.

The scene before them would drive anyone insane, except for the Ascension Species.

’Gao Yuanyuan’s’ eyes flickered with an eerie light.

It wasn’t surprising that the opponent didn’t die, after all, he had already become part of the Mother, and the Mother wouldn’t die. What surprised her was that the opponent still retained consciousness.

In the Cyber Tide, this was almost impossible because the only one who could completely preserve consciousness was the will of this Cyber Tide, which was herself!

”Surprised?”

Gao Gong smiled slightly, the starry sky opened up, and his figure vanished once again.

”Consciousness—”

’Gao Yuanyuan’ closed her eyes, and the next moment, all the heads on this planet seemed to be infiltrated by ghosts, including Yagami Suuji’s head. Soon, she understood the opponent’s plan.

To cultivate the next generation of Cyber Tide, to replace herself.

And the reason he could preserve consciousness was probably due to the influence of the next generation of Cyber Tide.

”You’re very skilled with virtual side methods, but in a global network shutdown, how will you use them?”

Along with ’Gao Yuanyuan’s’ words, pedestrians on the street, patients lying in hospitals, employees working in Super Corporations, agents from Mother City’s Six Ministries, all stood still, their electronic brains forcibly shut down.

This was just the beginning, soon, one data hub after another began shutting down, a large number of data systems directly entered offline silent mode, and even enterprise hosts went into shutdown.

The entire planet entered the era of great blackout.

Without human-generated bioelectricity, there would be no sensory signals, and without signals, naturally, there would be no network.

Perhaps some high-level information civilizations can encode physical laws to allow virtual worlds to present without hardware. For instance, the ’Fantasy Land’ once created by Person G didn’t require any hardware; even civilizations of a higher level found it hard to locate his nest, which was a significant reason why he sold films for so many years without getting killed.

But on Mechanical Split Star, without hardware, the virtual network would shut down. No matter how skilled a hacker or AI you are, no signal means no signal, no signal means forced shutdown, and any related skills would directly enter sealing mode, which equates to the sealing of an entire ’system.’

And this sealing is a fatal blow to Gao Gong.

With a flash of bloody light, Gao Gong appeared on an island; the virtual cloak and civilized stick all disappeared from him. Opening the system panel for a look, as expected, all virtual side skills were sealed, the Cyber Hacker profession was entirely blacked out, and only the Information Mother as a Tier 5 Information Life could create such a ’water drop’ effect, unless breaking through Tier 5, any changes on the information level would be sealed.

This sealing complexity is no less than the sealing of a microscopic domain.

”Hello, Mr. G.”

A soft, sinister voice slowly echoed.

Gao Gong turned his head to see a memory worm, resembling a python, slithering over. This memory worm was visible, and its movement happened by secreting worm eggs, causing the propulsion forward so this large python moved four or five meters, and its body extended four or five meters.

Then, from the snake body, worms split and merged, slowly squeezing out a human form.
