Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 872: Chapter 40: Mission in Progress (2)

This is a rare battle between high-end players and advanced NPCs.

Typical tasks rarely attract so many players above level 40.

And generally speaking, the Mechanical Legion would not be deployed.

This battle concluded with more than half of the high-end players killed or injured, and the Mechanical Legion losing thirty percent of its mechanical life.

And most importantly, Mr. G successfully escaped once again.

In terms of combat power, high-end players are not opponents of the Mechanical Legion, but they have many tricky maneuvers, especially in escaping abilities, they are full of talents: short-distance space movement, magnetic repulsion, material transfer, cloning, transformation, and so on.

The Heaven-Level task continues—

And this time, the players escaped to the only high-difficulty map on this planet, which is precisely the Oudik Continent, or the S-Level Continent, where Gao Gong had visited before.

Even current players dare not venture here easily.

This place belongs to the high-difficulty within high-difficulty maps.

And the reason for coming here is largely due to the increased difficulty of the task.

”The Armed Space Station has started to recover.”

”Monitoring satellites are searching for you, currently inspecting all the New Continents.”

”Be careful, the Electronic Network Department has sent out at least ten groups of advanced AI. Avoid going online at all costs now!”

Here the advantages of the game forum are evident.

Some high-end players have not directly participated in the task, but they are almost distributed in every organization on this planet.

Memory Supervision Department, Humanity Experiment Department, Electronic Network Department, Machine Consciousness Department...

It is precisely because of these people’s tip-offs that high-end players are not running around like headless flies.

And the reason for choosing this continent is largely because it is probably the only area on this planet with radiation.

And with radiation, it can interfere with satellite surveillance.

Dida quietly looked up at the sky, with the radiation layer disappearing, he could clearly see the Fixed Star surrounded by the Mechanical Split Star, and the two satellites, Cybertron and Night Rabbit, orbiting the star.

Why?

If the game remains as realistic as ever, then before the artificial atmosphere appears, the environment of this planet should have become very harsh; why, after the radiation layer disappeared, did the environment of this planet not worsen, but instead subtly become better?

As an energy life, Dida could feel the life magnet field of this planet gradually returning to normal.

”Dida.”

Dida turned around to see a man stepping out of the shadows behind him.

She recognized him, Rainy Night with a Knife and No Umbrella, the top assassin among players, with at least a double-digit number of boss heads in his hand.

It was precisely because he dared to assassinate ’Mechanical Mountain’ in the previous battle that players managed to carve a bloody path out.

The power he possesses gave her a very dangerous feeling.

”Baozi is looking for you.”

Dida nodded and directly logged into the game forum.

Baozi died.

On the battlefield, all beings are equal, even the rich like Baozi would die instantly if hit by an energy cannon.

’I’m switching to the information route, next time I’ll upload my consciousness, never stepping onto the battlefield again!’

This was Baozi’s declaration of determination to change his profession after repeatedly dying unluckily.

Who would have thought that sneakily hiding behind a bunch of mechanical security guards would still get you instantly killed, who could you complain to!

’@Baozi, you’re looking for me?’

Due to the underhanded manipulation by some mastermind, players are not kicked out of the task even after death, and as long as Mr. G remains alive, the task can continue indefinitely.

Thus, Baozi simply took on the role of the dog head military advisor, fully arranging the player’s movements.

’This isn’t working, Miss Dida, the task difficulty is ramping up; it starts with the Ghost in the Shell Mobile Division, and next it might escalate to the Six Ministries, and if the Six Ministries can’t catch us, it would be the Mother City making a move, and if the Mother City can’t manage, the ’Memory Mother’ will intervene.’

’Do you remember the Cyber Tide mentioned in our task introduction? According to the task description, this is the ’Electronic Brain Graveyard,’ related to brain-machines, and among us high-end players, how many haven’t implanted brain-machines? This is a sign of total brain death for everyone.’

Dida frowned.

She hasn’t done a task this difficult before.

The highest difficulty task she did was with Mr. G leading, however, Mr. G is now out of commission.

’Then what’s your suggestion?’ she asked.

’Have you thought about how those NPCs confirm our location?’

’Memory Worm?’

’It wouldn’t be Memory Worm, because if it were Memory Worm, the first to arrive would’ve been the big boss Memory Mother. The game’s NPCs aren’t dumb, they wouldn’t send them wave after wave.’

’Then you mean?’

’According to my various investigations, during the time we weren’t online, this planet underwent dramatic changes. Of course, this is an obvious statement, but what I mean is, during these dramatic changes, most large-scale monitoring equipment, whether in the sky, underground, or in the Mother City, went into downtime.’

’So, the initial pursuit was mostly a range-based search, but the next one will be facial recognition and brain-machine positioning.’

’You have a point,’ Dida mused, ’so what’s your take on it?’

’We need to split up, divide the players into several squads, each one with a ’Mr. G.’ I’ll find a way to clone Mr. G’s body.’

Dida was startled, she didn’t expect Baozi, that notorious businessman, to actually master cloning technology, which is a part of a Professional Knowledge Chain.

But she quickly raised a question.

’The higher the level of the organism, the harder it is to clone, right?’

’I don’t plan to fully clone; it’s a gene-mixing technology I developed, as long as we cultivate a body with Mr. G’s aura, it’ll do.’

Dida pondered.

’Since you’ve already planned it out, what do you want me to do?’

’No matter how many fakes there are, there always has to be someone leading the real one, right? Such a formidable task, after our discussion, we’ve decided to entrust it to you.’

’Where do you want me to take him?’

’Reality is not viable, as large-scale surveillance equipment recovers, reality is a net of heaven and earth, staying here would only end up being cannon fodder. The Virtual Realm is not viable either since it’s the ’Electronic Brain Graveyard’, it must be related to brain-machine and virtual, so I want you to take him to the Energy Realm.’

Dida squinted her eyes, she didn’t expect the other party to know about this thing.

She only knew it after advancing to become a Tier 2 Energy Life that besides the Spatial Dimension, Temporal Dimension, and Quantum Dimension, there is also an Energy Dimension.

Where there is energy, there exists an ’Energy Realm.’

To be more precise, a high-level energy field will cause space to distort, and this large-scale spatial distortion will create a little-known virtual world.

A world purely composed of energy signals.

’I need some materials.’

’No problem, I’ll air-drop them to you as soon as possible, Advanced Energy Boards, Top-level Signal Debuggers, and a Portable Advanced Engine, right?’

Dida questioned:

’How do you know this exactly?’

Baozi hesitated for a moment before deciding to give the other party a hint.

’Since there are advanced NPCs chasing Mr. G, then conversely, there are some who want to protect Mr. G. The planet will only be saved when Mr. G wakes up.’

Baozi hinted a little, implying that he also has backing.

’I understand.’

...

They stayed on the S-Level Continent for about 3 or 4 days, changing at least a dozen places during that time.

With the recovery of surveillance equipment, even with many players tipping off, there were still the unlucky ones who got caught.

A targeted open field strike with over ten thousand energy shells air-dropped into an area cleared all players from the region, resulting in over 500 high-end players getting wiped out.

Under the threat of these large weapons, whether you are level 40, 50, or even 60, it doesn’t make much difference.

Unless you have cross-civilization level combat strength.

And the high-end players finally realized that Heaven-Level Tasks are not that simple.

If it weren’t for Baozi, or rather, the tip from whoever backed Baozi, the unlucky Mr. G would have hit the jackpot with just this one wave of attack.

Thankfully, soon after, no one knew how Baozi managed it, but loads of supply boxes were airdropped, bypassing layer upon layer of blockade.

Among them, aside from the food and ammo the players urgently needed, the most important were the various ’Mr. G’ clones.

”Wow, it looks exactly alike!”

”Seriously, how good is Baozi at this,” one player touched his face, ”I suddenly have a bold idea!”

”Can they really make everything?”

One male player silently grabbed the ’Clone Mr. G’s’ shorts, wanting to take a peek, and quickly received a system warning.

A female player quietly touching the chest met the same fate.

”Alright, whether in reality or virtual, corpse picking is illegal,” a responsible player coughed, ”so let’s quickly divide the corpses.”

”Boss, your words seem more illegal,” a high-end player silently commented.

”Enough chatter, most of us here, nine out of ten are cannon fodder, anyways it’s about stalling, stall as long as we can to buy time for G Beauty to wake up.”

Mr. G’s sleeping posture successfully reminded many players of a certain Sleeping Beauty story, so in everyone’s mouth, Mr. G was upgraded to G Beauty.

”I can try, relying on my flexible tongue, to forcefully kiss this G Beauty awake!” A fierce female player raised her hand to report, quickly causing uproarious laughter.

”If you’re not afraid of getting banned, you can try.”

Fortunately, the high-end players were just joking, as compared to the NPC’s looks, the task rewards were more attractive to them, and soon, these players left with their respective ’Mr. G.’

Besides Baozi, no one knew whether the Mr. G they were escorting was real or fake, everyone was on high alert, and if the high-end players wanted to escape, even the experts from Mother City would need to chase them with all their might.

Soon, battles erupted across various locations on the S-Level Continent.
