Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 897: Chapter 3: The New Suzi

After confirming his short-term goals, Gao finally warmed back up from his useless slump.

Right now, as the only super corporation still operating on the planet, Du Gao Technology was finally enjoying a wave of benefits from the Cyber Test Field.

Blueprints, gear, data, top-tier developers—these top-tier Cyber Test Field resources were now completely open to them.

And beyond this planet, there were even more super resources.

Right now, on Cybertron, tens of thousands of mecha were hauling like crazy. One mecha went ”ka-cha” as it finally cut off a Spark Life incubation pod, then hefted it and flew toward a transport ship not far away.

On another side, two mecha were carrying a Level 90 Advanced Mechanical Lifeform—this one was actually a Leader Level character.

Someone had created some plotlines that never existed in the original timeline, but had also indirectly deleted some of the original ones.

Thanks to Gao triggering a Cyber Tide far more powerful than in his previous life within a short time, the Cybertron storyline hadn’t even had time to start before being wiped out in one go by the Memory Mother.

For example, Lord Celestis, who shone brilliantly in the original Cybertron plot—a Tier 3 Mechanical Leader with Five Templates and 22 million Mechanical Energy—didn’t even get a cameo. His Spark Module was blown out by the berserk Cyber Wave before he could do anything.

Du Gao Technology had salvaged fourteen such ”Megatrons” in total.

And as long as they rebooted the Spark Modules and then modified the Memory System, Du Gao Technology would obtain fourteen Tier 3 Top-level Super Mechanical Bodies.

”Careful, all of you! Handle them gently! These are all treasures!!” Dr. Rong’s eyes were shining as he yelled over the comms channel.

”Doc, all these mechanical bodies are made of Cybertron Alloy. Forget ’gentle’—even if you blasted them with lasers, it wouldn’t do jack,” a mecha pilot complained.

”Bullshit. Sure, the outer armor’s fine, but who says the internal parts are fine too, huh? Ah! Such beautiful shells, such sexy mechanical pecs!”

Watching Dr. Rong feverishly caress the Spark Module of a Cybertron Mechanism, several pilots exchanged glances and shuddered in unison.

As an ”extreme machinist,” what Dr. Rong dreamed about day and night was transforming everyone in the alliance into Mechanical Life. Even though this proposal had been rejected countless times, he refused to give up.

Now that he’d arrived at the nest of Mechanical Life, for Dr. Rong it was like a john walking into a brothel—this was coming home.

Similar scenes were playing out among the other tech department members of Du Gao Technology.

Since they were leaving anyway, in true Gao fashion, they were going to strip the place bare—take everything that could be taken. Whether it was super corporations or the internal databanks of the Mother City, you could see Du Gao Technology people hustling everywhere.

The upside of doing this was obvious.

In less than three or four days, on the Alliance Panel, Du Gao Technology’s 600,000 Alliance Points shot up to 1,000,000, reaching the upper limit of a Level 2 Civilized Influence.

The reason they hadn’t broken through to a Level 3 Civilized Influence was because, to break through, you had to master Level 3 Civilization knowledge.

To get that, they’d have to enter the cosmos first.

...

While every member of Du Gao Technology was busy, Gao was busy too.

On an aircraft carrier, Gao stood on the deck, talking to himself.

”Without the Power of the Destruction Form, everything feels inconvenient.”

Before, with ”Purple Energy Strings” in hand, if he wanted to go somewhere, a single thought would Instant Teleport him there. Now he could only take a ship.

Fortunately, Gao already had a plan to restore his Superpowers.

He needed two prerequisites: one was Planet Magnetic Field Control, the other was Spatial Shifting Talent.

The former was a big ultimate move for the Carbon-based System. Generally, Tier 4 and Tier 5 Supercluster Warriors could master it through grueling cultivation and training in extreme conditions.

Gao was very confident in his Talents under Fusion Mode.

As for the other Spatial Talent, that would be a lot trickier—but the cosmos was huge, and there were plenty of cosmic Races with Spatial Talents; there would be a way.

Soon, Xiao Yu’s excited voice rang out.

”Boss, we caught them!”

On the other side, Fat Xiang’s voice sounded as well.

”Brother Gao, I’ve got mine too.”

Xiao Yu and Fat Xiang leapt out of the water, each with a corpse tucked under their arm.

One was a man whose features looked like a Greek sculpture; the other, a Thin Alien.

3rd Generation Miller, Supreme Messenger.

Under the Cyber Tide, all beings were equal. No matter how big their background was, without retreating in time, their brains going into Downtime was inevitable.

Gao didn’t immediately examine the corpses. Instead, he looked at Fat Xiang and asked, ”Aunt Xiang, you’ve decided? You really aren’t leaving this time?”

Fat Xiang scratched her head and said, ”I’ve decided. This old lady’s planning to retire on this planet, not running around anymore. Oh, and for her and Old Sunx’s second marriage, Boss, you better show up.”

”No problem.”

Gao Gong lightly flicked his palm, and that thin Alien was lifted into midair. A glint of light flashed in his eyes; under the effect of Divine Knowledge, he could clearly see that inside the other’s skull there were three faint black lines, and around those lines Memory Worms were crawling all over.

”So it’s a puppet too? That Supreme Being’s Cosmic Relic is a Spiritual Control type?”

”Boss,” a voice came from the encrypted channel, ”those three zombies have been salvaged.”

”Boss, we found the wreckage of Cloud City, and inside it we located a survivor.”

”What does it look like?” Gao Gong asked.

Soon, a Holographic Projection unfolded before his eyes. This sole survivor was precisely the great‑grandmother of the 3rd Generation Miller—Ms. Miller herself.

”Miller Clan, Xie Family.”

Gao Gong rubbed his chin.

In the early stages of Cosmic Civilization development, the Dark Jungle Law was very popular. In a Cosmos whose distance is practically infinite, once your lair is confirmed, it’s like placing a target in front of a crowd of people with guns.

And now, although the Dark Jungle Law has already been patched through several versions, having your lair discovered is still an extremely dangerous affair.

The Xie Family’s Mechanical Zombie technology, researched on the basis of HeLa Cells.

And the Miller Clan’s Genetic Storage technology.

Gao Gong was quite interested in both.

And barring surprises, these should be Tier 3 Technology.

”Boss, where to now?” Fat Xiang asked.

”You head back first.” Gao Gong glanced at the ”Alien corpse” opposite him. ”I need to make a trip to the Mother City.”

Under the cortical layer, one Mechanical Energy nozzle after another opened, Radiance flared bright; in the blaze of light, Gao Gong’s figure quickly vanished into the air.

However, Gao Gong didn’t rocket straight to the Mother City. After he’d flown high enough into the sky, he stopped there, hovering, eyes slowly closing. Very soon, an indescribable viscosity appeared; in a daze, it was as if countless transparent worms were burrowing in and out of the Void, and Gao Gong himself turned into a Human Form composed of worms. Quickly, the worms on the surface of this Human Form began to fall off, drilling into the floodstream; in the end, the Human Form vanished, leaving only the boundless torrent.

Since Other Shore of Freedom had already been destroyed, the newly built ”Planet Main Control Room” was placed at the center of the Mother City Deep Net.

At the intersection of rainbow Signal radiance and neural currents, a half‑virtual, half‑real Super Building rose up from the ground. From the outside, you couldn’t make out its true appearance, because its surface was covered by the Wall of Code.

The Wall of Code quickly opened a Human Form‑shaped opening, as if something had burrowed in.

Soon, the entire ”Main Control Room” became a Box crammed full of worms. Inside the Box, countless worms once again assembled into a Human Form; the Human Form shifted from virtual to real, once more forming Gao Gong’s likeness, walking out from the viscous virtual fluid.

”Using the Authority of Virtual Worms for movement—how does it feel?” Deep Net asked without looking back.

”A bit disgusting. Like crawling out of some kind of insect’s tract.”

Gao Gong scrubbed his neck hard, as if trying to wipe some slime off his skin.

”You’ll get used to it. Complete insectification is also one step in becoming ’Worm Life’.”

Deep Net paused, then continued:

”By the way, although you’re already the most powerful Life on this planet, even after insectification you’ve only absorbed one‑tenth of the worms’ Life.”

”For the remaining nine‑tenths of ’worms,’ who are you planning to find to digest them?”

”Most members of Du Gao Technology.”

”That’s nowhere near enough.”

”Relax, I’ve got plenty of excellent candidates.” Gao Gong said with full confidence.

”As long as you’re sure.” Deep Net operated the host as she spoke. ”The two parts of the Memory Worms—regarding the Authority over ’Memory,’ I can suppress it. But the Life System must find Anchor Points in reality. The physique of these Anchor Points has to withstand the worms’ transformation, or they’ll be devoured.”

”Don’t worry. The people I pick aren’t afraid of dying at all.”

Deep Net nodded. On the huge light screen before her, planetary images were being reflected. In the images there were several coordinates; one of them was Arasaka Tower.

”In another half hour, the Planet-level Signal Tower will link up. I’ll communicate with the Dominator.”

At this, both Deep Net and Gao Gong’s expressions tightened a notch. Whether they could fool the other side all depended on this one shot.

A figure appeared outside the Main Control Room and said respectfully, ”Ms. Deep Web, the Signal Tower has been successfully connected. We can transmit signals to outer space at any time.”

Seeing the familiar face, Gao Gong couldn’t help raising his brow slightly. The woman before him wore a tight Bionic Man suit that perfectly outlined her curves; on her short‑haired face was resolute heroism. As she slowly rose, neural currents and Sensory Signals crossed through her body, her figure seeming to hover between virtual and real.

One look and you knew she was a queen who belonged in artbooks.

”I remember there are no Bionic Men left on this planet,” Gao Gong looked at the distant ’Yagami Suuji’ and said softly, ”so what’s her deal?”
