Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 248: Chapter 248 How to Make a Hot Air Balloon?

Iyas had no idea what strange idea Yang Yu had come up with this time.

But when she learned about the truth behind Yang Yu asking her to shoot arrows at the black bubbles, she was speechless.

Yang Yu had her shoot arrows continuously at the black bubbles just to try her luck at destroying the cores inside and weakening the combat ability of the bubbles.

She didn’t believe that Yang Yu’s method of relying purely on luck could really work.

But despite her reluctance, Iyas followed Yang Yu’s instructions, drew her bow, aimed at where the core might be within the black bubble, and shot at random.

Honestly, Yang Yu himself didn’t believe that this approach of weakening the enemy through luck could be effective.

But after all, it wasn’t his luck that mattered.

Putting someone as lucky as the Luck Emperor in charge of executing this plan suddenly made it seem much more reliable.

After arranging for Iyas, Yang Yu pulled out a huge canvas, called over Bai Jin, and started patching it up.

Iyas only had one Skill that could hit the black bubbles, so while waiting for the cooldown, she joined Yang Yu and the others in patching up the canvas, weaving it into a giant sack.

Once finished, Yang Yu began to set up the surrounding area. He took out a shovel and dug a deep pit, drove stakes into the ground inside it, laid out Sharp weapons, covered them with a cloth, and sprinkled sand and dirt over it.

The whole process took almost four hours, even with Bai Jin’s Magic helping.

In that time, Iyas had shot nearly a hundred Strong Wind Arrows at the black bubbles, but no one knew how many cores she had actually hit.

With everything ready, Yang Yu finally explained the battle plan slowly to Bai Jin and the others.

The key to the fight was the property of the Black Energy.

This Black Energy and the Fairy cores corrupted by it, formed black entities with physical mass. If their cores were shattered, these entities would revert to a gaseous state.

This Black Energy, when other cores were nearby, would be utilized by those cores; and if black bubbles were present, the energy would return to the bubbles.

What Yang Yu and his team had to do was to capture the Black Energy, fill the canvas with it, treat it like rising hot air, and construct a hot air balloon to fly towards the black bubbles.

Unfortunately, obtaining the Black Energy was very difficult; it could only be achieved by killing the black entities and destroying their cores.

Once, Yang Yu had four plump black shadows before him, but he didn’t cherish them. Only when he lost them did he feel profound regret.

Now, apart from the crocodile in the lake, there were no more black shadows from which to obtain Black Energy, and a battle was inevitable.

To be honest, Yang Yu had also considered not using Black Energy and making a hot air balloon directly.

But then he suddenly remembered he was actually a poor student, everything memorized by rote was long returned to his teachers.

Although he knew the principle behind a hot air balloon, he had no clue about how to make a perfect one, nor how to operate it.

Maybe, just maybe, if Bai Jin continually used the Fireball Technique, the makeshift hot air balloon could float up, but without wind, it would just hover in midair, utterly unable to move an inch.

That was why Yang Yu decided to capture the Black Energy, utilizing its characteristic to return to black bubbles, by sealing it into a bag to create a giant balloon that would hoist the box, allowing them to fly towards the black bubbles.

Yang Yu did not know whether this method would be successful, but at this moment, it was the only option available.

”Wait, I will lure the alligator, leading it into the trap we’ve prepared. The two of you must work together to destroy all of its Cores, turning it completely into Black Energy.”

”It’s too dangerous for you to be the bait...” Bai Jin clenched her hands—if only she had managed to learn Flying Magic earlier, then Yang Yu wouldn’t have to risk his life as bait, ”Is there really no other way?”

”I can’t think of any other method at the moment, and after striving for so long, I don’t want to fall short at this critical point. No one is more suitable than me to be the bait.”

Having said that, Yang Yu picked up a Blue Equipment Sword and a Blue Equipment Shield.

The only Purple Equipment sword he had transformed into a V-shape and was unusable, but Yang Yu couldn’t bear to discard it and threw it into the System.

Without the enhancement of Purple Equipment, his combat power would significantly decrease in the future, but if he could acquire the Fairy Racial Essence, this could still be considered a worthwhile trade.

To retreat halfway would have been a total loss.

Yang Yu got closer and closer to the lake. Iyas and Bai Jin picked up their weapons, waiting for Yang Yu’s command.

Without any warning, a black giant alligator leaped out of the lake, opening its enormous maw to devour Yang Yu.

Yang Yu stepped back two paces, allowing the black giant alligator’s teeth to snap shut right in front of him, missing their mark.

The black alligator had taken him by surprise just now, which was why Yang Yu got injured, but now he was fully prepared, and he feared nothing.

”I didn’t expect you to come this quickly. How do you plan to compensate for the sword and shield you just bit through? If nothing else works, use your body to repay!”

A flash of the blade, and Yang Yu’s sword slashed upward from below, leaving a long gash along the alligator’s jawline.

The black shadow was full of mystery, and Yang Yu did not know if this approach would provoke its anger, but trying it out couldn’t hurt.

The black giant alligator was unimpressed by Yang Yu’s Attack, dragging its body with its mouth wide open, and it bit down.

No one would easily give up the food before them, and the black giant alligator was no exception.

Even if it wasn’t a real creature, it still possessed the instincts of a real one.

With a backward glide, Yang Yu once again avoided the black giant alligator’s attack. After several repeats, instead of distancing himself from the black giant alligator, he maintained a dangerously close proximity.

It appeared that with just a little more effort, the black giant alligator could swallow Yang Yu whole.

Unfortunately for the alligator, the familiar scene played out again: as it crawled forward trying to shred Yang Yu, it couldn’t catch him. Unaware, it was led farther and farther away from the lake, stepping bit by bit into the trap that Yang Yu and his companions had laid out.

Yang Yu stepped back along the stakes that had been set up in advance, while the black giant alligator pushed through the earth, chasing him forward, swearing to only go a little further—if it couldn’t catch Yang Yu, it would return to the lake.

But that little further became the last straw that broke the alligator’s back.

The ground underneath the alligator’s feet collapsed spectacularly. The tiny stakes that could support Yang Yu’s weight could not support the giant alligator’s mass; the trap collapsed, and the alligator fell into the pit.

But the black giant alligator wouldn’t go down without a fight; it struggled, trying to raise its body to climb out of the deep pit, only to be met with countless arrows pouring down from above, unleashing a storm that targeted only it!
